Essex town is located between East and West Glacier. It is a good location for exploring both sides of the parkThe house is close to main road and train tracks, the trains don't blow the horn because there is no crossing but you can hear them. IF YOU ARE A LIGHT SLEEPER PLEASE DON'T BOOK. The Great Bear Wilderness is right the back side of the house. Stanton lake hike (in the wilderness)is one of my favorites. The trailhead is 5 minute drive from the house. Stanton creek is a nice spot forpicnics too.
Our house has all the amenities completely furnished with linens, towels and dishes. There is a TV and a DVD player with a selection of DVD'S. There is no satellite TV. There are some games and puzzles and a pool table. There are some hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trail maps available and some activities you can do inside and around the park.
The house features exterior security cameras. The cameras don't look into interior spaces. The cameras record video when activated by motion.
Walton Ranger station which is an entrance for day hikes and back country trips is 7 minute drive from the house.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the appliances, coffee maker, microwave, dishes and cookware and some seasonings.
The bedroom has a queen bed.
The bathroom is fully equipped too, We stock the starting supplies of toilet paper, soap, shampoo, trash liners.
It used to be a bar in late 1950s.
Enjoy your stay and also go and explore the park and outdoor activities as river rafting, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, boating.
There are also Red Bus Tours available in the park.

Very nice setup and pert near in the middle of both east and west glacier park entrances. We were off season so not much open around, but likely much more lively rest of year.

It was a really relaxed beautiful location and home. Comfortable and great base came for exploration. As previously noted by others this is right on the tracks. I am pretty adaptable and it was fine but my partner is a lighter sleeper and wore earplugs. Everything was well stocked including bottled water.

A unique little gem with all the amenities. We found it to be an excellent location for the west side of GNP and also not too far from the east entrance. The host was extremely helpful and very responsive. We will absolutely be back!

Such a great home. We were told that the train behind the house would be miserable. But we just turned on our white noise and slept wonderfully.

We really enjoyed our stay at this cute cabin. The trains are definitely very close and very often but she does say if you are a light sleeper this is not the cabin for you. Also the road is super close. Definitely loud during the day not so much at night. Great location between both sides of Glacier. The host was very easy to get in touch with and made sure we had what we needed. Thanks for an amazing stay.

We absolutely enjoyed the mix of rustic and modern during our stay. Much of the House remains apparently as it has been from when it was built yet it has up to date kitchen, bathroom, and laundry appliances. The quiet, isolated area was also very nice. There is a great place to eat not too far from the House - an unexpected pleasure.

Awesome vacation rental. Well stocked kitchen. Nice gas grill. Even has a pool table. Great location for accessing east or west Glacier entrances. And I liked the trains that went by every couple of hours.

We stayed here for our 4th wedding anniversary and it was perfect for us. Its almost the same distance to both east and west glacier, its a great location if you're looking to explore both. They were so nice to include so much in this cozy cabin like trash bags, laundry pods, bear spray, tea bags and more. Whenever we decide to come back to glacier we will definitely book again!

This was a great place and that it was almost mid-way between east and west Glacier meant we could go to either side of the park. The train reminded me of childhood!

We were there in the middle of winter. I love a wood stove and it was very nice. We had a lot of plans but after about 2 days we just would go get food and sit by the fire. It was fantastic and probably the most chill vaca I've been on. I loved the trains passing all day, it was so cool.

The cabin is clean and attractive. In less than 30 minutes we were at the west side entrance to Glacier NP. The property manager has a large notebook to help you explore the park and many other trails and places to check out. We enjoyed our week.

Beautiful property and cabin. Centralized location to both entrances of Glacier. Train runs super close all evening and throughout the night. Highway traffic noise can also be a bit loud. Fans were provided, so we were able to drown out the noise for the most part. Overall very spacious and clean with a great vibe!
