We had a great weekend at Ella's Inn. All 6 of us had our own bedroom which was nice since we were up north to do a fat bike race. Very homey place and the kitchen was well stocked. Would definitely stay again.

We had a nice relaxing stay. Loved the house location and all the bedrooms! Actually 6 of them. Kitchen was well equipped. Only thing I would add would be shampoo and soap or body wash in the bathrooms.

Wonderful place! It was like a comforting big hug! 6 of us. Each had our own bedroom and shared 3 baths. Kitchen well stocked for cooking in yet close enough to quite a few restaurants (and shopping). Host was friendly and available but we had no problems. Perfect spot! Would definitely recommend!

I’ll give you the bottom line first: My family would absolutely stay at Ella’s Inn again. Check-in couldn’t have been any smoother. Upon arriving, we found the house neat and clean. A binder with the history of the house, the story of its owners, helpful phone numbers, sight-seeing suggestions, and other information was on the coffee table in the living room. The house is pretty old, originally built as the rectory for the Catholic Church that used to be next door, but is quite nice. Not luxurious, but nice and cozy. You feel at home in it. Being an old house, the kitchen is small but has everything you need. The house doesn’t have a washer and dryer for guest use, but there is a laundromat two blocks away. The back yard has a fire pit with plenty of firewood, lots of chairs for sitting around the fire, and a large Weber grill. The house is located within walking distance of all the main Grand Marais bars, restaurants, and gift shops, as well as the picturesque harbor and lighthouse. In addition to the house being perfectly located, Lori is a wonderful host. We called about a plumbing issue and she was there in less than 15 minutes and the problem was quickly resolved. If you’re planning a trip to the Grand Marais area and need a place with 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, very conveniently located and with wonderful hosts, check out Ella’s Inn.

We had a great time. The location is wonderful. Lori, the host, was very attentive and helpful. We love the North Shore and it was fun for my extended family to be able to walk everywhere. Thanks for a great weekend.

My family of 7 plus sister-in-law had a great relaxing time at Ella's Inn. The house was comfortable, we had plenty of room to spreadout to play game or simply read. The access to Grand Marias was simple, just a few blocks from town with their coffee shops, bakeries, shopping and best of all lake access! In fact, we even found terrific pickleball courts by the YMCA we walked to a few times and played. We love the North Shore and all the state parks and other outdoors amenities. Ella's was a great central point for us to get to these activities easy. Thank You for a great stay and nice comfortable home.Pat

The house was only two blocks from the lake and downtown Maher. That was the best part of it. It was also pretty spacious with six bedrooms and a nice big dining room table. However, that there was a lot about it that needed work. The landscaping had not been done at all yet this spring I don’t think except for mowing. Weeds everywhere, including in flower boxes. A lot of small things in the house that need to be fixed and equipment in the kitchen was pretty good but knives for example were completely dull. The yard was in pretty bad shape with weeds everywhere including in the window flower boxes. A lot of small things in the house that need to be fixed. Also, equipment in the kitchen was pretty good but knives for example were completely dull. Interesting decor.

This house was so clean and beautifully decorated with tons of great art! We loved the homey, welcoming feel, 6 (!) rooms and beds, and 3 bathrooms with showers especially as we booked it for our town day following a 4 night camping trip. Town was in easy walking distance as was the shore of Lake Superior. I could walk out the front door a few steps for a beautiful view of the lake. My family enjoyed the many books available to peruse as well as the guest book where other guests recommended places to eat and shop. On our final morning we took a 10 minute walk to the northeast side of the harbor to watch a beautiful sunrise. Once we parked the first afternoon, we didn’t get in the car again til the morning we left - and we ate, explored and shopped our way through our 1 day, 2 night stay! Thanks so much for the great stay, Lori and Terry. We couldn’t have asked for a better home base.

This was at least the fourth time that friends of mine and I have stayed at Ella’s Inn while on our annual skiing/hiking trip. As always Ella’s was a great place to stay. The house had everything we needed and was conveniently located to restaurants in downtown Grand Marais. We’ll definitely plan on coming back again.

Every fall, our family takes a trip to Grand Marais. This is the first year we stayed at Ella's Inn and it was perfect! The property was spotless and well stocked and Lori was an extraordinary host. We had a little ones who needed a nap and it happened to work out that we could check in a bit early. We loved the family space and the abundance of bedrooms. We hope to return next fall.
