If you like to cook, this is the place to do it. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking gear. The rear patio has a picnic bench, a large BBQ grill and even an herb garden for your use during growing season. After a good meal, you have Riverfront for a nice relaxing walk. The sunsets are to die for with the many bridges that Harrisburg city is known. Enjoy!
It was a good experience. The neighborhood was quiet and it was very close to I-83.
Based on the other reviews and pictures, my expectations were very high for this place. In reality, it's a very old house that smells like mold/mildew. It's three floors - first floor is kitchen and living room, second floor is one bathroom and two bedrooms, and third floor is one bathroom and one bedroom. The top floors get VERY warm. There is no fan in the master... between the hot air (and mind you, this was May - I'd hate to feel it over the summer!), and a too soft mattress with very cheap-feeling sheets, we slept terribly. I also didn't love having to put one of my kids up on the top floor by themselves. The house was fine, just not great and not somewhere I was excited to come back to at the end of each day. We ended up leaving a day early since no one was sleeping great.
Nicely located for sight seeing with great access to freeways. Old and needs some updating but overall a nice place and a pleasant stay. Better furniture on patio would be a significant plus. Steep stairs to all bathrooms and bedrooms could be an issue to be aware of for some.
We really enjoyed our stay here and the hosts were great! We had 6 adults and a two year old that were very comfortable in the house. It was nice having a large kitchen with all the amenities to cook so we did not have to eat out every meal. The location had a beautiful view of the river and we felt safe walking on the trail. Would definitely book again if in that area!
We wanted a place to stay in Harrisburg, that would accommodate our family. The location was very convenient for our needs. Loved the views of the river, as well as the cute patio out back. It was unfortunate that all but 3 of the patio string lights were burned out.
This house was everything and more. It was very accurate in the description and very clean. The house was perfect in every way for our Harrisburg trip. From the bathrooms, to the bedroom linens and kitchen was stocked. If you want a home away from home- this is definitely the one! You won’t be disappointed! ☺️
The location is fantastic - we used it as our home base for a Hershey trip. Less than 20 minutes from the park and access to anything you might need within minutes. Beautiful view with the river directly out your front door (and a great walking path right there as well). Pay close attention to the parking instructions. The garage on site *might* fit a smaller car. Anything else needs to go on street parking (this was no problem whatsoever - just pointing it out). As to the space itself. The first floor is good. Its the upper floors that are a bit rough. There needs to be some repair and cleanup. Overall we had no problems but the four stars are for the state of the space in entirety. We would return if we were taking another Hershey trip.
We stayed at this rental to mostly go to Hershey park attractions, but also to have a couple of nice dinners in Harrisburg and check out the music scene. The location is great, right on the river with a bike path along it, and it was really easy to get to the highway and whatever else we needed to access. The house is a modernized older city dwelling, which was exactly what we wanted, and was clean and we'll stocked. There was also a garage for our car, which was a major plus, and my seven year old got to see some bunnies and otters on/near the property, another bonus! The only critique I might have is the hot water ran out rather quickly; I'm not certain the tank is set up for a vacationing family of five. But I also didn't complain about it, because it was only an issue once or twice. I definitely received the property.
The stay was very nice, the pictures were a correct representation on the place. There was a lot of stairs and there was a little mix up on the check in. But the owner was easy to contact and the problem was fixed promptly. The instructions and the directions on how to get a parking pass were slightly confusing. But I would definitely recommend.
In the beginning, I booked for 5 people and paid extra for an additional guest. When I learned that one person could not attend, I immediately contacted the owner and asked to decrease the number and for a refund on additional expenses. It took a LONG time and several messages to get a response. When I did, no refund was given and I was told it was because VRBO wanted to charge me more for the change so just leaving it alone was the best and least expensive option. Later, I checked rates again for summer months and we were still paying higher than average costs so I reached out again to ask why. However, I did not want to leave us without a place to stay so I just asked the question and did not pursue. I did not get an answer. Later, my friend's parents wanted to come and visit us for one night and we were charged an additional $30 even though I had already paid for 5 people for 9 days. The property has 3 bedrooms and 2 tiny bathrooms (typical of homes in the area) with 4 beds. Upstairs rooms are HOT unless you lower A/C a lot and use fans. There were plenty of towels. The sheets are not cotton and this felt weird to us but may not to everyone. The property is being maintained but not loved or appears as little money as possible is being spent on it. We arrived to find the door code was not working but they did help with this immediately, a broken cabinet hinge, bleach stains on the carpet upstairs and not enough seating in the living room for four people. We had to go out and buy toliet paper. We went out and swept cobwebs/bugs off the entry door area/light fixture. You are told to NOT wear shoes in the house and we all found this extremely hard. I understand not wanting shoes upstairs but no shoes in the house just does not match with American habits. The book of instructions/rules does not match what you are sent in messages and ends up being very confusing. We received a parking ticket even though we bought a parking pass because we were not told it did not mean on street cleaning days. This is very important information for people who have no experience with street cleaning and parking on streets. It should have been provided in the book. We paid for cleaning and then were asked to complete a lot of cleaning before leaving which was not in the book of instructions/rules. The view across the street is awesome. The walking trail along the river is amazing. The house was in a great location for our adventures.
If you need a place to stay. This is definitely it!
