This is a Saturday-to-Saturday vacation rental for up to 4 adults (adults only).
The spacious deck of the Downstairs apartment is only a few feet from the water's edge at high tide. The front door, approached from the parking area and gardens, has a small deck with two steps; the sliding glass door on the harbor-side deck is accessed by a ramp.

The sliding glass door opens into the living room area. The living room has a beautiful sliding glass door view of the harbor, and the windows add the head-of-the-harbor view of the mountains. There are two comfortable arm chairs and coffee table, gas fireplace, books, and ROKU TV in the living room, with the kitchen and dining area just beyond.

The small kitchen has a four-burner electric stove, microwave, fridge, and a good variety of pots, pans, dishes, and utensils; cleaning supplies under the sink. There is a small dining table for two in the kitchen area, and the deck has a round picnic table and four comfy chairs if you care to eat outdoors.

The harbor side bedroom has a queen-size bed, two side tables, dresser and closet. The study in the room next to the bedroom has a desk, twin sized bed, dresser and closet.
Being a cozy apartment, it is perfect for a couple.

There is a full bath just a few steps away: all tile; tub and shower. Plenty of fresh bath linens. Supplies you might need are under the vanity.

The deck wraps around the side and front of the house and is shaded part of the day by the Upstairs deck. There are the outdoor table and four chairs, and a grill. It’s a wonderful place for watching the gulls and eagles and other shore birds, the boats coming and going, the fishermen with their lobster boats, and the sunset over Bernard, across the harbor: great opportunities for making some memorable photos.

There is central heat; fans for ventilation if needed; all linens (bed, bath, and kitchen) are provided. Immaculately clean. Lovely decor.
No smoking, no pets, not appropriate for children.

Glad to be on 'the quiet side': Views are beautiful. Bass Harbor has been photographed for the cover of a National Geographic book about New England and has been the site of several movies. The lobster fishing boats are always interesting, and if you love wildlife, eagles soar over the harbor daily. We counted twelve herons in the low tide one September day and have watched loons, ducks, terns, and gulls work the harbor.

Although we're only thirty minutes from Bar Harbor, we are essentially very different. Bass Harbor is a small fishing village and working harbor on the southern end of Mount Desert Island. We're called 'The quiet side of the Island.' There's plenty to do here: The Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, Wonderland and Ship Harbor (part of Acadia National Park) are only a mile or two away. At Little Island Marine, the small boatyard which shares the peninsula with the house, Island Cruises makes nature trips Monday through Saturday, and charters private fishing or sailing trips. Restaurants are within easy walking
distance.

Amazing location on an island/peninsula jutting well out into Bass Harbor. The tides are wonderful to watch - at high tide right up to the deck, at low tide you can walk out nearly a hundred feet. It was so nice, we found ourselves just sitting on the deck taking it all in, at times foregoing all of the recreational opportunities of Acadia National Park. The house itself is cozy, clean, well maintained. So good we know we'll back again.

We have stayed at this location several times. It is a wonderful little island house! It is right on the water in Bass Harbor. Everything is clean and ready for us when we arrive. Thanks again to Charlene for being such a gracious host and for sharing your little island house with us!

If you're looking for a quintessential New England experience, this is the place for you! It is an easy drive to the more touristy Bar Harbor, but unlike it's more well known companion, Bass Harbor is quiet, calm, and beautiful. The sunsets you'll see from the deck are simply stunning!

This is the third year of my wife & I coming to this perfect little house on the harbor. It’s always impeccably clean and welcoming. Charlene is the host and is very sweet & thoughful making sure we’re happy. The back deck is right over the shoreline, a perfect place to sit. And sit. Oh, and sit. And relax. Nice little kitchen with all the utensils and vessels necessary to stay put and DYI or a 5 minute walk will get you to the Seafood Ketch for some really good seafood. Hopefully we’ll be able to make it back next spring.

House was clean, had all the amenities needed, and was close to all the things we wanted to see (hiking, eating, bar harbor).

The cottage was located in a beautiful serine private spot on Bass Harbor. We arrived and the cottage was super clean, kitchen was well stocked with utensils and cookware provided. Cozy layout with a gorgeous porch overlooking the bay. Owner was great in communication and we could not have dreamed of a better place. Looking forward to return next year!

My wife and I had an incredible week staying at Charlene’s accommodation. It was clean, very homey, and extremely comfortable. We enjoyed evenings sitting on the deck, watching lobster boats come in and out, and watching beautiful sunsets. The area is very quiet and perfect for a quiet vacation! We hope to come back someday.
