Affectionately known as Dory Haven, this newly renovated cove-front cottage features tasteful New England decor, high ceilings, a screened porch, and a sunroom boasting an abundance of windows and waterfront views. In a prime locale, you'll have close access to the area's natural wonders. Traverse the coastal woodlands of Acadia National Park, or hike local peaks like Champlain Mountain and The Beehive. For explorations nearby, Bartlett's Landing and Long Pond can be reached in no time.
r>Relax in the spacious living room, furnished with two sofas, armchairs, and a gas fireplace. Pick your favorite film from the vast array of DVDs and have a movie night on the 31-inch TV. An adjacent sunroom boasts a sofa and rocking chair, as well as a dining table. Whip up tasty vacation meals in the open kitchen, outfitted with new appliances, granite countertops, and all the kitchenware needed. Enjoy morning coffee at the two-person breakfast nook. Gather in the sunroom at the unique live-edge wooden dining table for six and take in beautiful views of the waterfront backyard.

The whole family will enjoy the expansive grassy backyard. Roast s'mores over the fire pit or go for a swim in the refreshing waters. Please note that the waterfront is tidal, meaning at certain times of the day, there is no water. However, during high tide, the water is perfect for swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. Keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife, including seals, otters, and Maine seabirds. End your day with drinks on the deck, with seating for two. Sizzle dinner on the grill, then head to the lower-level screened porch to enjoy an alfresco dinner at the picnic table. This area also offers a two-person table, ideal for a quiet moment at the end of an activity-filled day.

For nearby excursions, launch a kayak from Bartlett's Landing, which also serves as a wonderful spot to catch a sunset. Or head to Long Pond, a nearly 4-mile long, glacial lake. Drive 15 minutes to Acadia National Park. Spend your time exploring the woodlands, breathing in the salty air on the rocky shores, and watching for local wildlife. Explore the coastal town of Bar Harbor, just a 25-minute drive from your home. Indulge in local cuisine, shop the boutiques, or charter a boat to explore the deep blue sea.

We had a lovely visit at the property. This family has taken the theme for Dory Haven to a really nice standard. It was a great location for our trip to the National Park and Bar Harbor.

Communication was perfect. We had an issue with a door lock and after sending a quick text, Vacasa was very prompt responding, maintaining good communication until the issue was resolved. The house was very clean and the sun room made it a wonderful retreat. It was an easy commute to Cadillac Mountain for sunrise. Our only suggestions would be: One, an updated shower head. Its very high and only tilts so far so it hits the wall and not the person. Two, window coverings. Even though the area is secluded, we would have liked the option to cover the windows at the sink, the kitchen table, the kitchen/entryway door, and especially the hall, since it large and sits right outside of the bathroom.

We really enjoyed our time at this house. It was the quiet getaway we were looking for. The kids loved playing outside, and we used the firepit every night. Would recommend.

Our only complaint would be the toilet. I think it needs to be tightened or something.

We had a wonderful family vacation at this beautiful Mount Desert home. We loved being able to step out the back door to swim at high tide, watch sunsets, enjoy a fire, and play yard games in great weather. The location felt private yet convenient, and the thoughtful touches throughout made it cozy and inviting. The house has plenty of natural light and very comfortable spaces. As others have noted, cell signal was spotty and the Wi-Fi wasn’t strong enough for remote work as I had hoped, so I needed to make trips into town—which was a nice excuse to visit a local coffee shop. The host was communicative and helpful. Overall, a charming and relaxing spot perfect for a family getaway!

Place was a nice gem tucked away from busy Bar Harbor. We enjoyed watching the stars and the sunsets from the covered patio. Only mild complaint is the door does not lock from the inside so our toddler would try to escape every chance he got. Additionally it was not per se toddler friendly but what really is as an vacation rental. All and all a great stay and we would come back. Also make sure you open the upstairs windows in summer otherwise it will be rather hot.

Been to Maine in the summer with family the past 12 years. Always wondered what it would be like in the winter. Now I know… just as beautiful as the summer with way less people lol!Dory Haven was perfect location and accommodations lovely for a weekend getaway.

Perfect place for getting away and back to nature. Great 4-season porch overlooking the cove. Quiet, comfortable, cozy. Bed and stove could be updated.

We absolutely loved this property. It was so tranquil and the view of the cove was beautiful at all hours. The issues that we encountered were with communication. The listing when we booked over a year prior to our trip said that the property was pet friendly, which has since changed. Thankfully, we were still allowed to bring our pup, but it took significant effort and time to get clarification which was quite stressful. Also during our stay there was an issue with a lock on an exterior door and they sent someone to repair the issue without communicating this - it was really upsetting to return with someone inside the rental without being notified prior.

The view and yard were the best things about this rental. The house needs attention and upkeep that would have made our stay so much more pleasant. 1) The bed in the primary bedroom was so squeaky (from old box springs) that I moved to the second bedroom so my wife and I didn't wake each other up when one of us moved. Vacasa noted the bed was old. So why did the owners not replace it? There was also no mattress cover on the mattress. 2) The 2 front burners on the stove were broken. Vacasa said the lighters were broken and they hadn't been able to replace them. This is something they should have communicated to us so that we knew when we tried to cook. 50% of the burners were not working and they didn't think they should tell us? 3) The 2 skylights in the bedrooms are not usable. One had no screen and the other one was broken. How hard is this to fix? 4) The shower head did not fit the shower; you had to stand sideways, otherwise your face was literally 3 from the back of the shower. And I am a small person! 5) The toilet was loose and rocked every time you sat on it. Vacasa's response: The plumber used a new type of seal and it doesn't prevent it from sliding. If this is the case, Vacasa needs a new plumber. Other issues: the locks on the door from outside to the sunroom were broken and no toilet paper holder. Come on owners, take some care of your house! The gist of our dismay is that there are simple fixes that should have been done.

Well appointed and beautiful setting. Very peaceful on the cove. Coffee on the porch watching daylight arrive, and sunset at night was stunning. Will book again next year.

The pictures do not do this home justice! The sunroom is spacious and you will have gorgeous views onto the water. The living room is big enough for our family of 4 to be together but not on top of each other. The DVD collection made for fun filled family evenings We loved the coziness of the furniture and decorations. The screened in porch on the bottom was a wonderful addition to discover. The bedrooms are light and since there are no blinds on the skylights, you will wake up early enough to do all your hiking:).

There is a lot to love about Dory Haven. The location on the water afforded great views in a serene atmosphere. We loved the enclosed porch and pretty much stayed in that room exclusively when in the house. The kitchen was modern and well equipped, as was the bathroom. However, the Wi-Fi was absolutely inadequate and seemed like false advertising. The house is in a dead spot for 5G/LTE, so Wi-Fi is essential. However, we could not get it to work at all during our weeklong stay because the speeds from Hughesnet were too slow. The lack of WiFi made it difficult to plan activities because we were unfamiliar with the area. My son, who had work to do every morning, had to drive 20 minutes to a coffee shop with Wi-Fi every day. This raises another issue with the location. We loved being away from the crowds of Bar Harbor; however, the location really is remote. By the end of our week-long stay, we were tired of driving 25 to 30 minutes to enjoy shopping or dining out. Finally, during this time of year (early July) the sun starts to rise at 4:15 AM. Because there were no shades on the skylights and the curtains were thin and white (and stained) in the bedrooms, we rose with the sun at an ungodly hour. Dory Haven is a charming house with some great features, but we won't be back. It could be perfect for someone who wants to and is able to disconnect during their stay. That wasn't us, unfortunately.
