Doc's Retreat - Yachats Ocean Front

Love being able to watch the waves from the living room or kitchen table. Only complaint is the couch/hide a bed is not sleepable. My daughter and her husband put the mattress on the floor, but both were sore in the morning. Please don't say it can be used as a bed. A short person could sleep on it as a couch, but not that comfortably (I'm 5' 1) and I tried it. Saying it could sleep 6 is false advertising.

It was ok, have had much better. The odessy manager was very helpful.

Property very old. Furniture old and uncomfortable. All appliances worked well. The back yard s a mess. The shrubs obscured the ocean view from the house which sits way back on the property. The replaced windows were nice but several were missing their screens. The location was perfect.

Yachats was a great little place for a week of quiet reflection. The weather was great and we had a front row seat for the angry sea ahead of a small summer storm.

Such a delightful cabin right on the cliffs. 50 feet out the back door are amazing rocks with crashing waves. ocean view from the living room and the kitchen. Overall just delightful and a quiet neighborhood for walking.

This is a classic beach house- a little quirky, cute, water view and walking distance to town. The house had everything we needed and we had a great time there. We had some great wave watching from the bench on the property and we took some great walks- you can walk to town one direction and eventually to nice walking path the other direction. This is a great little house!

We loved the storm, the closeness to town, the view of the ocean. It was comfy. Would do it again.

A bit chilly drafty - the floor in the kitchen is wet by the window from a leaking roof We pay a cleaning fee but that doesn’t include laundry what seems strange to me but a fun stay great location to town and trails

The retreat was quiet, comfy and cozy! I adored the ocean view from the kitchen window and the privacy of the space and the homey vibe. Just a short walk from the door was the big blue Pacific, and a bench to sit upon and savor it all.

While they allow pets there is no grass. Front and back is some shrubby plants..we knew the ocean views would limited because of how far back the house sits but then these shrubs blocked it even more. It would be ok for a couple days but we were there for 3 weeks. Inside and furniture typical of some lower end rentals we have stayed at before. Love staying in the village so we can walk. Good location for that.but we come here for the ocean views so the lack of that and no grass is why we will not stay there again.

It was clean to look at but....I think it was the old outdated furniture and the fact that they allow dogs. I would not use it again.

We spent two nights at Doc's Retreat and really enjoyed our stay. The rental was really clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable - we did not use the pull out bed. The bathroom was clean but really small, and you kind of had to squeeze yourself in. It's an older house with no overhead lighting, so the kitchen/dining area in particular were a little dark - we were doing a puzzle at the table and had to bring one of the living room lamps into the kitchen. The backyard has a spectacular view, but we were a little disappointed that the usable space was so small. We wanted to spend more time outside in the evening, but there most of the yard is covered in shrubs with just a park bench and small patch of grass at the end, so it was only really suitable for 2 people max to be out there at a time. The pictures of the yard are accurate, but we just thought the usable space was going to be bigger. There are also no side gates to keep children/pets contained in the backyard. The location is also great. We were able to walk to restaurants and had easy access to the bluff, and it was an easy drive to hikes and sandy beaches.

The bath is very compact as is the cabin but access to the bath is separate from the bedrooms so would work if the two bedrooms are occupied.

The house itself is nice, but could use some TLC and updating. The backyard is not totally fenced in for dogs, but is manageable. The listing shows it can handle 6 people, but with one bathroom, we found 4 people was a practical limit.

Shower is quite small and the washing machine very finicky. The view from the outdoor bench is not only amazing, but the crashing surf brings a sense of peace and calm. We've visited Yachats from Texas for 10 years now and would be delighted to stay in this home again. Walking distance to town and exceptional food is easily accessible. The 804 trail, Cape Perpetua, Heceta Head and other excellent hiking areas are nearby.
