Wellfleet, Massachusetts
Everyone loves Wellfleet and this is one of the loveliest homes available in an extraordinary location. Set high and private on one and a half acres with 375 feet of a swimming beach below, this house with its 180 degree water views of Cape Cod Bay from 5 out of 8 rooms is the perfect retreat for families ready to unwind and enjoy all the surrounding natural beauty and activities of the outer Cape. The bay beach is ideal to fish, kayak, watercraft with Wellfleet's incredible National Seashore ocean beaches, fresh water ponds, & charming downtown just a few miles away. In a private community, this house is at the end of a road with no drive by traffic, and a driveway long enough to handle a boat trailer, cars and room for kids to play. Brand new big deck too! Neighborhood is perfect for very scenic walks, bike rides and star gazing. Central air, one level living is a gem for Grandparents and kids will love the large rec area in basement with ping pong and another TV. Internet, DVD. New 55' TV in living room.
Wonderful Year Round! : Snug, heated, and cozy year round with a wood burning fireplace in the living room and captivating water views, this house is a perfect destination Spring, Fall, and Winter. You may not be inclined to go to the beaches off season, but many of Wellfleet's restaurants stay open May through October. The Wellfleet Oyster Festival in mid October is a weekend celebration with music, a road race and art and craft fair.
Any Fall or Spring weekend is an opportune time to bike the range of trails in the area, from the 22 mile Cape Cod Rail Trail, which is a paved surface with few hills going from Wellfleet all the way back to Dennis with stops in towns along the way, or for the more aggressive bikers, the Provincetown Lands Trails, a spectacular and challenging 5 mile course through hills, dunes, and wetlands. Scenic but rigorous!
Another tremendous natural resource just a few miles down the road is the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, which has 5 miles of trails offering incredible bird watching opportunities and educational programs. Because two thirds of Wellfleet is in the National Seashore, twenty square miles of it or thousands of acres have trails that ramble through pine woods, salt marshes, and towering white dunes along the shoreline, all providing the chance to discover and enter wildlife habitats. For one of the ultimate wildlife eco- trips, no one should leave the Outer Cape without having gone on a Whale Watch, which are run out of Provincetown, about 25 minutes away. Few experiences compare with seeing one of these magnificent creatures swimming and splashing right up close to the boat! Indeed, Wellfleet remains a mysterious and captivating place for both the intellectually curious and the casual beach goer.
If its more humanistic pursuits you're after, a jump in the car can take you a few miles down the road to Chequesset Yacht and Country Club, which is a fancy name for a very low key public golf course that is open mostly year round and has some nice water views from the course. Or swing over to the Beachcomber at Cahoon Hollow Beach and hear some live music, eat some famous Wellfleet oysters, and revel with the beach crowd. However you choose to spend your time in Wellfleet, you will keep a part of it with you long after you're vacation is over.
You cannot beat the location of this house with its amazing views of the Bay. The house has everything you could need for an awesome vacation. The deck is beautiful with private access to the beach. The kitchen is fully equipped. The bedrooms are all comfortable and well-appointed. And the basement game room is a special bonus. A great spot for family vacationing together or really anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of Cape Cod.
My family had a great week in early August 2019. Wonderful location steps down to beautiful bay side beach and close drive to kettle ponds and Atlantic side beaches. House has everything you need to relax and cook. Some of the best views of Wellfleet bay.
Val, your house was absolutely perfect and our week there was just incredible. Every day we'd wake up and look out to that indescribable view and be in awe. We would take walks at low tide, swim at high tide. We visited with oyster farmers on the sprawling flats, strolled along our private beach in the windy moonlight, cooked and enjoyed the best seafood meals ever as the sun set over the bay and just enjoyed every second. My kids said it was the best trip they'd ever been on...and they've traveled a lot. If you want the perfect spot on Cape Cod, this house may definitely be it. Wellfleet is such a special place and this home is the perfect expression of that specialness. We can't wait to come back and certainly will.
We could not have been happier with our stay here. The home provides 180 degree views of the harbor/bay side of the upper Cape from the huge deck and the large, all-window sun room. Since it's on the left side of Route 6, you get spectacular sunset views. We've always enjoyed Wellfleet and have rented in the area twice before. The house is a roughly five-minute drive from the town center and 5-10 minute drives from Wellfleet's larger town beaches. The house interior isn't huge but it utilizes its space perfectly with a large, comfortable living room (in addition to the sun room). I'd highly recommend Mac's Shack for dinner (no reservations, though) and Hatch's Seafood for fresh fruit and veggies and for when you're cooking. PB Boulangerie in South Wellfleet has a great bakery but is very expensive for dinner. The Flying Fish Cafe in town has great homemade scones and casual lunch.
Hi Val, We wanted to let you know that we had an awesome vacation at your house in Wellfleet last week. Our entire family was able to relax and enjoy ourselves in your comforatable home. It was totally worth it for us to just be able to sit and stare at the water, enjoy the breeze, and shower during the sunsets (THAT is a great outdoor shower!). The kids (and their parents) loved being able to head down the stairs to look for crabs, take a swim, chat with the oystermen (and women!) etc. And the National Seashore just can't be beat- the water was chilly but swimable and the weather was generally cooperative. Larry and Kathy were also very accomdating- not that they needed to be as there was nothing wrong. But it was entirely comforting to know that they were there to help if we needed it. They were at the house when we arrived and returned the couple of calls we made very promptly. I'm so glad we were able to find your house and I hope we have the oppurtunity to rent it again in the future. Future Renters: Looking for a great place for the family to relax? This is it- spread out in the comfortable living areas and watch the water, take in the breeze, cook a great meal. This house will feel like a vacation, you can simply decide to do nothing and it will be great. Or you can venture off and have a blast anywhere within minutes. And you'll feel looked after- both the owner and caretakers of the property are highly communicative and the property is maintained in great shape. You can't go wrong!
