CUTE COTTAGE CLOSE TO SHORT SANDS BEACH AND TOWN

A cozy, private cottage close to the beach and town. So convenient. Hope to come back again!

Our stay started off a little rocky with some disappointment in the overall accommodations at the cottage. There was a very bare bones quality to the cottage with few of the expected amenities that we have had on numerous other stays in cottages in Maine over the years. For instance, there were no wine glasses available (we are BIG wine drinkers!), there was no hand soap in the kitchen or bathroom, no bath mat, no hand towels and only a partial roll of paper towels and a partial roll of toilet paper for two people for the whole week. I expected these things to be available because the only items we were told we needed to bring was bath towels, sheets and pillows. I did reach out to the owner and he quickly got the missing items together and brought them over to us. His quick response was very much appreciated and we were able to relax and settle in. The cottage itself is located approximately a 3-4 minute walk to Short Sands beach...which was a big plus. There was a private deck out back which we appreciated. All in all the week was good.

The cottage had all the amenities we needed and was in walking distance of the nearby beach and lighthouse area. The drives to area towns, beaches, and the mountain were short enabling us to take in numerous activities. Our host was inviting, gracious and was available for any questions of the area and property. We now know why people come back to this area often.

It was our fifth time and York Beach (so we can compare) and this was one the best we had. Close to everything, a quiet street and the warmest people you can find in Mike and Janice. Ideal for a couple, a bit small for a family but easy to manage if your on vacation. C'était parfait!

Overall a good vacation. Could have had better weather but no one can control that. The cottage is small but very cute. The back deck is a wonderful place to sit and read. Very private.

We very much appreciated the ease of check-in and the access to the Property Manager when we needed it. This was a great place for the price and we would recommend.

Pros: Cute place- quick walk to Short Sands, amazing private patio, cold ac in both bedrooms, quiet street, super nice hosts. Great town- plenty to see and do, good for all ages. Zoo, arcade, playground, piano bar, brewery, lots of shops, lots of food, lots of snacks. Cons (sorry!): Tight quarters - it's just two bedrooms, a bathroom, a tiny kitchen and a small main room. It was fine for two adults and a young kid but larger groups may want to take caution. BUT the patio makes up for it, we spent most of our time out there. Some repairs are needed- this is our second year here and both times the heat didn't work. BUT they had someone there trying to fix it within hours of us mentioning it so we appreciated the effort. The patio door did not want to slide easily. We could use it with some effort but our kid needed help every time. Overall recommended- a great place for a beach vacation.

We’ve been coming to York with large family group annually for 45 years, this year we came twice (once with large group and once with just us). The property was perfectly located with easy parking. Nice shady, private deck!
