Stayed Apr 18, 2025This was our first experience renting from Vrbo and we will definitely not hesitate to do it again! My husband, our college-aged son, our dog and I enjoyed our 3-day weekend. The house was close to the WCU campus (the reason for our visit) and was well equipped for our stay. Sitting on the deck in the afternoon, listening to the stream was very relaxing! We will definitely be repeat visitors should my son decides to transfer to WCU!

Stayed Nov 27, 2024We rented the property for Thanksgiving to celebrate with my WCU student. The property is mostly as described. We appreciated the comfortable living area, the ability to have our medium dog with us, the very well stocked kitchen (we were very pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the kitchen was in teens of casserole dishes, pots and pans, and serving pieces. Only thing we couldn’t.find was a whisk. :)), and the closeness to WCU (5 min drive). The property is very basic in terms of linens and finishes so didn’t feel it was quite a 5-star property. We also experienced the VERY musky odor that other reviewers had mentioned. I brought some scent items with us in case we had this but the odor was detectable every time we entered the property. Also, while challenging to control, there were a good number of dead insects in the unfinished basement / game room. The WCU students somewhat enjoyed the basement games but didn’t spend long down there as they found it cold and a bit creepy. :)). One important thing for awareness is that the house appears to be in a cellular dead zone, at least for AT&T and Verizon. We had absolutely no connectivity and initially the Wi-Fi password we were given was incorrect. We had to drive back towards campus to find cell service so we could call property management. Property management was great, but we couldn’t troubleshoot anything in real-time. Once we got connected then we could make calls and text over wi-fi, which was strong.

Stayed Aug 15, 2024We stayed for a week to move our child into WCU. The property was great for our family. Our only concern was a mothball smell in the house that was very distinct and overpowering. The gas grill had no propane and the dryer did not work. Both of these things we did not find out until the last day. Even with the issues our stay was nice and we would recommend.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969TONS of games and activities for kids and teens! Nice rooms, and the kitchen was stocked well - there is both a regular coffee maker and a Keurig, and even an air fryer. Once you find the home the first time, the outside lights make it very easy to find in the dark. Very much in nature, not the place for folks who don't like the woods; quiet and peaceful. Fire pit access requires climbing down a slight hill on an uneven path. Nothing terrible, most will have no problem, but if you have a hard time walking for whatever reason, it will be difficult. Overall, while older, it is well taken care of and nice without being fancy. Highly recommend if you have kids!
