Our only complaint or suggestion is the beds are really small, and the pillows are huge. I love a fluffy pillow, but these pillows are way too thick everyone from kids to grown men complained. So if you dont mind the small beds you may want to bring your own pillows.
First, the positives: 1) House is new, very clean and exactly as described in the listing details. 2) Kitchen is well stocked with everything you'll need to prepare your own meals. We were pleasantly surprised that there was an air fryer available for use as we use one at home very frequently. 3) Yes, there are a lot of stairs to reach the lake, but they appear to be relatively new and are well maintained. Not a problem for my wife and kids. 4) The home is located in a quiet cove, hardly any boat traffic to be concerned about. Nice area to enjoy a float/swim off the dock. We did not use the kayaks, but they are there for renters and with the lack of boat traffic, probably an excellent place to kayak. One item to be aware of is that if the lake level is up, there is a chance you may have to lower your canopy when going under a bridge. We rented a boat and fortunately for us, the lake level was down so it wasn't a problem. However, even with the lake level down, we only had about a foot and a half clearance. Just something to be aware of. Our only complaint is that the internet/tv was down for our entire stay. Normally, this wouldn't even be a problem as it's good to go off the grid every once in a while. But, this was college football opening weekend and we missed all the games, which was a total bummer. The property manager was excellent in responding to our repeated contact and concerns; however, we were repeatedly told that the homeowner wasn't able to be reached. IMO, If you are renting your home, you should be available 100% of the time for issues such as this (which probably could have been resolved in as little as an hour if they had to contact AT&T directly). Service was working at other homes in the area, confirmed by a conversation with a homeowner a few houses down.
The house was very nice and spacious. The driveway was very steep there were no pictures of that in the listing.
Let me start with the positives because there are many things. The home itself is beautiful and new! The kitchen is open and allows you to be in the middle of it all despite cooking or cleaning. They had firewood which was nice so we were able to have a fire without having to supply our own firewood for s’mores for the children. There was also not a boat in the slip so we were able to park our boat under the slip each night. Negatives and I will start with the higher priority items first. There are 58 steps to get from the back yard to the boat ramp and it is on an incline. I normally bring my 80 year old mother with us and I am so thankful I didn’t because she would have been trapped in the house the whole week. This is not mentioned anywhere in the listing and really should be. In addition to the 58 steps, there are 17 additional to get into the house. We had an age range from 7-54 and each and every person struggled up that incline each and everyday. The driveway is narrow and very steep and because of that you can’t park many vehicles by the house due to having to get completely turned around to go back up the steep narrow driveway. You cannot see the lake at all from the house due to all the trees blocking. One of the things I love most is mornings sitting on the porch before the children wake up and having views of the beautiful lake each year. You are responsible to bring all of your trash to a convenience center located 6 minutes away. Thankfully we had my sons truck with us so that wasn’t a problem but if I had to put that all in my new SUV I would have been very upset. No trash pick up at all and they expect it all to be taken there the day you check out. The master bedroom says it has a queen size bed which I wasn’t thrilled with as most master bedrooms have a king but behind that the bed was so very uncomfortable. It appeared that the bed may have been adjustable but there wasn’t a remote to be found. I am also pretty sure that the bed is actually a full size bed and not a queen size bed. Everyone else seemed to be satisfied with their beds. Very basic kitchen items there and only two dish towels. In addition there are two towels in each bathroom. I think for the whole house there was maybe 8 towels total and 3-4 washcloths. Make sure you pack your own. There was also not many pillows and we found ourselves wishing we had brought our own with us. They left out important details in this listing!
Wonderful place to stay and love the lake.
