The Green Duck is simply an easy house to be in. At the end of a private road, you'll find our charming 1 bedroom lake house- which includes a full kitchen and living room area with a bathroom (standup shower only). We have just added a luxurious cedar wood-fired hot tub for the 2025 rental season -we have tried it and it is divine! The house is equipped with washer and dryer! We like to keep all the screened windows open all summer and let the breeze keep the house cool, but if you need it, theres AC in the bedroom and the sun room that cools the whole place. There is working WIFI, DVD system, TV channels, but save that for a rainy day. You'll be spending most of your time outside on the deck or down on the beach and/or swimming dock. There are 2 kayaks for your use as well as some extra life jackets. Plenty of deck chairs for sitting or laying out in the sun. A great place for bird watching (bald eagles!) and fishing right off the dock! 2 fire raised metal fire pits (one on the beach and one in the yard) for those nighttime bonfires! This property is unique as we get both Sunrise on the lake and sunset over the hills of Fox Run Winery! One last thing - a charming and historic train runs next to the house. The train seems to have no set schedule, but seems to run very infrequently. Sometimes not coming for days on end and other times passing by up to 3 times in one day. We see this as part of the charm of the place- the train goes slow and the conductor will even sound the whistle for you if you wave at the train! All in all - this is the perfect house for a quiet, get-a-way - full of fishing, swimming, laying around, working on your new book, or a just a romantic rural experience! Oh, and if it gets too quiet - Historic Downtown Geneva is a 15 minute drive. There you can find gift shops, a cinema, The Smith Opera House, grocery stores, Linden Street, full of shops and great farm-to-table restaurants and a lakefront park.

*** This is a year round rental. We spent last winter here and made some great memories. I must say the place is stunning during all four seasons. We do ask the guests DO NOT use the wood stove (for safety reasons). The house is well insulated. There is electric heat (Thermostat), as well as some very advanced, high-end space heaters for the areas that don't heat up as well. If you would like to see some photos of the place in winter time, just ask and I will email them to you.

We had a fantastic winter getaway at this cozy cabin! We traveled here from Connecticut on New Years for my girlfriend’s birthday and enjoyed the hot tub, outdoor amenities, and the easy access to great local restaurants/wineries. The cabin has everything you could need and the scenery is incredible. Jonny was a fantastic host - he went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. We’re hoping to make a return visit in the summer!

The view from the cabin, hot tub and dock is outstanding! Hearing the water lapping up against the shore is so calming! Very private and quiet! We had a fantastic stay at this Green Duck! The location is perfect with incredible views of Seneca Lake, and the space was just right for two adults. The cabin was cozy, comfortable, and well thought out—everything we needed was provided, with clear and easy-to-follow instructions. The hot tub was such a treat, especially at night when we could relax under the stars. The bed was very comfortable, and the whole place felt warm and welcoming. One day, we took a quick drive to Niagara Falls, which made the trip even more special. Highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with amazing views! Thanks, Jonny, for sharing your slice of paradise!

UNIQUE is the word for the Green Duck cottage. Besides the backyard splendor of Seneca Lake (with multiple decks and seating from which to reflect), and a front yard that offers a gorgeous vineyard view, especially at sunset, this spacious cottage has personality! Primary colors punch out of a well-stocked full kitchen. Whimsical and vibrant paintings and an eclectic mix of artworks showcase, perhaps, host Jonny’s own hand. And a smoker grill and the hot tub allow for special DIY deliciousness and relaxation. Oh, and don’t let the occasional train deter your choice to stay here. It lumbered by twice during our 3-day stay and was more exhilarating and cool than a bother. Private, yet so close to Watkins Glen and local waterfalls, super amazing ice cream, and vineyards and farms in every direction. Our favorite moment: sitting on the dock from late afternoon to sunset on a day when the lake was totally calm, watching gulls darting and diving to catch bugs, and taking in the changing clouds and light reflecting on the lake until it shimmered like mercury. It was truly awesome.

Memorable First Visit to the Finger Lakes – Even Better Than Expected! We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this property! The location was perfect—close to everything we wanted to explore, including Seneca and Keuka Lakes, Watkins Glen, Geneva, and even an Amish Flea Market. We visited four wineries, went hiking, kayaking, and enjoyed so many other activities that made our trip unforgettable. The property itself was exactly as advertised. It offered total relaxation with a beautiful lake view, a hot tub, and a fire pit—perfect for unwinding after a day of adventure. We were even lucky enough to catch a full moon, which made the evenings even more magical.Jonny was a fantastic host—responsive, helpful, and full of great recommendations for food, drinks, and activities. His guidance really enhanced our experience. We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to explore the Finger Lakes. Wow, what a week! This was one of the most relaxing and peaceful vacations we’ve had in a while. The cabin is utterly adorable, clean, stylish and comfortable - definitely a place where you don’t mind staying in to enjoy all it has to offer. The lake views are gorgeous and the cabin itself is situated in such a private spot where you really feel like you’re in your own private world. When you do venture out, there are fantastic wineries that are so incredibly close by! I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the wood fired hot tub. It’s so amazing to unwind in it at the end of the day and take in the sunset over the vineyard or the shimmering lake on the other side. This property has been carefully cared for and curated and we loved everything about it. The host, Jonny is so helpful and friendly and offered great suggestions for the area. We truly hope to return one day to explore more of the finger lakes. A week long stay was wonderful but we can see returning for more. Highly recommend this property!

We stayed in the cabin Oct. 17-20 and everything was perfect! The area was beautiful, the cabin was at the end of a private drive with a beautiful lakefront view. We lucked out with an amazing 4 days of clear blue skies, mild temperatures and a full moon that we watched rise above the lake from the Adirondack chairs around the campfire. We loved sitting on the porch and watching the view of the lake. Every morning I went down to the dock to drink my coffee and watch the sunrise. It was absolutely gorgeous. Johnny was a wonderful host who gave us a lot of great suggestions. Our favorite was the winery across the street, Fox Run. We were lucky enough to book their last Food and Wine Event for the season that included a great tour of their vineyard where we got to meet their head winemaker who gave us an overview of how their grapes are harvested and made into their delicious wines- pro tip- look for Fox Run’s 2024 Reislings in 2025, they said that this harvest was the most perfect growing season they’ve ever had and it should be one of their best wines yet! This cabin was spectacular, it had everything we needed and was so close to everywhere we wanted to go! Thank you Johnny!

It was exactly what we hoped for when booking this property, from the location overlooking Lake Seneca; to the availability of a great fire pit but also an amazing charcoal grill; really sturdy outdoor furniture strategically placed so that the lake was always in view; to all the amenities inside the home, including very plush bath towels and a kitchen full of cooking supplies. Cozy lake cabin, with a great view and access to Seneca Lake. Perfect location to visit the Finger Lake region. This is a cabin, not a house, cozy but small. Perfect size for a couple or a family of 3-4 (easily fit two small children or 1 teenager). We did not cook this time around, but the kitchen was well equipped and there was an outdoor grill. The back deck, fire pit and dock were awesome. Plenty of comfortable outdoor furniture. Perfect location close to great wineries/vineyards and restaurants. Jonny's recommendations were spot on. My husband and I rented the cabin for our first visit to the Finger Lakes area had a great time. The cabin was nice and clean and exactly as described. The lakefront access is wonderful and we enjoyed watching the water and the eagles. We debated on the the West versus the East side of the lake and were very happy with the choice. The sun was so bright that I think facing the West would be tough until the sun actually sets. The owner has obviously put a lot of love into the cabin and we very much appreciated getting to experience their home. There is a train very near to the property and it was not a problem. It came by a few times. It went pretty slow and was short, so was not loud or disruptive at all. I wouldn't let the train deter you as most homes on the East side of Seneca Lake will be near this train. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would rent this cabin again.
