Brooksville, Maine
Hollyhock House is a renovated 1906 farmhouse secluded from the street and neighbors by mature cedar, fir, spruce, birch and ash trees and surrounded by gorgeous vegetable, flower and herb beds – more each year!
The house features hardwood floors in each room, many windows, and a 14′ x14′ screened sun porch, which many guests use as a breakfast room or home office. The kitchen is well equipped with a microwave, dishwasher, gas stove and lobster pot, of course! All linens are provided and beds will be made up for you when you arrive.
Eat outside at the picnic table, or, on a chilly evening, gather at the fire pit on the outdoor chairs and swing. Curl up at night to watch your favorite shows on the 40" Roku smart TV (bring your own streaming subscriptions).
This property worked very well for us during our fall trip to the Blue Hill area. The garden is lovely and the location was convenient. Heidi was a great host and she was very helpful answering our questions. Thanks again!
Owner has been very helpful. Pleasant grounds and convenient location
Lovely gardens and wonderful porch, the most used room in the house. The kitchen could provide basic cooking ingredients (salt, pepper, sugar, etc.) and the stairway definitely needs a full handrail for geriatric people like us!
My family loved their stay at Heidi's home! Such an idyllic location that has beautiful gardens and SO much outdoor space. The rooms in the house are spacious and well furnished. But the porch is what really shines. My family spent nearly all of their time on the porch because it was so lovely and comfortable. Heidi was very communicative and helpful. Oh, and the house is right by the best pizza place, Tinder Hearth. I highly recommend her lovely home. Thanks again, Heidi!!
Staying here at this lovely house in Brooksville has been great! A perfect location to be on the coast of Maine. And this location is fabulous with a truly quiet and natural setting, yet excellent shopping nearby. There's fresh food, clean air, and good people. A restorative choice which has soothed my soul. This house has been as comfortable as if I had family in Maine. I have been able to settle in from day one with all my housefold needs accounted for. I love the privacy with trees all around, but wide open spaces to see the amazing sunsets. But, I like the conveniences close enough and can get to the Buck's Harbor Market for my fresh veggies if I'm not going to Blue Hill to shop at the Blue Hill Food Coop or Tradewinds (both excellent) . It's been great getting my eggs, vegetables, cheese and bread just by drivng to the various neighbor's around Brooksville. Maine is truly about abundance and fresh, local food. There are so many activities here, even off season, but I love nature and it's why I came. I love water and I'm constantly going to the ocean and on the trails of Holbrook Island Nature Sanctuary nearby. I've seen otter, rabbit, and deer tracks. I've seen my first American Woodcock in this yard... beautiful and very exciting! (All my friends are envious). This is the best place for an artist looking for a quiet place to relax while working on projects. I've accomplished so much. And musicians would love it, too, because the house seems to make music sound so much richer. And, happily, there's no neighbors to disturb. Kids will love it here, because there's plenty of room to play. I couldn't ask for a better vacation home with a nice owner who wants you to have a good time.
