It is the 2nd time that we have rented a place where the owners actually live there. We will not do that again. I did read that one person said the kitchen is well equipped, however it really was not. No kettle to be found, (boiled water in a pot) few plates, bowls, old pots and pans (I would get rid of that very old pressure cooker, maybe put it in the locked closet when renters come). Yes, there are lots of wine glasses though. We were not comfortable with all the personal family pictures around, approximately 25 of them. The golf course is very sad. There was absolutely no grass, no signs where to go during the game. Everyone that my husband spoke to said that it is very neglected. Outside there are 2 tables for dining but one of the chairs is totally broken and the smaller table and chairs have been left out in the elements with cushions, were quite dirty so we never used them. There were 2 issues while we were there. One was fixed quickly however the second one was not. I really felt that we should be able to use the screen door in the living room but it was falling off the rails every time we used it. I cleaned off all the leaves and put WD40 however did not really do the trick. Maybe master bathroom should be updated. Maria however was great. Such a nice lady, pleasant and communicated rapidly. The house was clean on the surface however the drawers and cupboards thru the house would need some spring cleaning. FYI there are no stores or pharmacies close by.
Perfect location if you dont go into SD every day. Patio well shaded from morning sun with plenty of furniture. TV room great for 2 people but would be a little crowded for a family. Kitchen well stocked with cooking equipment and utensils. We stayed a month without a single issue.
Quiet, beautiful location on a golf course - and we don't play golf! Fred was very accessible and helpful. Weekly cleaning provided, maintenance man just down the street, if needed. Kitchen had full amenities. If available, we will be back.
Fred & Jeanette's home felt like our home. Seeing all the art work on the walls told us that they love to travel & enjoy all parts of this wonderful world of ours. Since previous renters have already commented about the fully equipped kitchen & other amenities, great views of the golf course etc, we will just mention what we liked about our stay: - Communication with Fred was easy and he responded to our questions within minutes. He took care of 2 minor issues immediately. - It was wonderful to have weekly cleaning done by Maria, the Colemans' long-time housekeeper, - The neighborhood was beautiful & safe. The neighbors in the adjacent units were friendly & welcoming. Thank you Fred & Jeanette for being such caring hosts.
This is a beautifully decorated home that has plenty of space. The location is rural, about 10 miles north of Escondido city. It was quiet and the neighbors were friendly and helpful. The winter of 2019 had more rain and cool nights than usual for the area, but we still played many golf rounds, including the golf course outside the door. We took walks in the area, and found a park for bicycling. The owners have a men's and women's bike in the garage for use. We also used the gas grill on the patio. In warmer weather, a nice neighborhood pool is available. Overall, we would recommend this location.
I have rented Fred's home for the past three years. I have always found it to be a most comfortable place to stay, and I find that Fred is most accomodating and very easy to work with. I plan on returning yet again, same time, next year.
We spent a great summer at this home away from home. From the well appointed kitchen, maid service, Netflix and Amazon and great owner (Fred). Spent most mornings on eastern facing patio for breakfast, coffee, paper, etc. Being from AZ, we definitely enjoyed sleeping with the windows open each night! Would recommend to just about anyone. Easy access to just about anything in SD North county (San Marcos, Vista, Oceanside, Del Mar) etc.
Great location, great place, very comfortable bed and fabulous bathroom. Kitchen well stocked with equipment. Very clean and east facing deck made morning coffee out there overlooking 18 fairway a fantastic expierience. Would recommend this place to everyone. We love the great scenery and terrain in the Escondido area. Will return for sure, hope this place is available when we do.
My husband and I were fortunate enough to have spent the months of Jan., Feb., and Mar. 2012 at Fred's home. Imagine our surprise when we entered and found the home to be more warm and inviting than pictured. Because this home is Fred's personal residence it is fully decorated and exudes a sense of home vs a temporary rental accommodation. Furnishings are tasteful and comfortable and the kitchen adequately equipped. On the patio which faces the 1st, 9th, and 18th fairway, there are comfortable seating arrangements for relaxing, reading and eating. A user friendly barbecue is also located on the patio which is private and comfortably shaded. The complex is located close to Escondido, Vista and San Marcos where we did most of our shopping. Due to it being winter months we did not use the pool but it looks lovely and well maintained. The whole complex is well maintained, quiet and mostly owner occupied we believe. Folks were friendly but inobtrusive. We are told our weather was unseasonably warm (highs in the 80's occassionally) however even when the weather cooled we found it very comfortable for a game of golf. On warm days we ventured to the sea (only about 20 mins. away) and visited areas such is Oceanside, San Clemente, Carlsbad, Julian, Cardiff by the Sea. We also took day trips to San Diego (about 30 mins. away) and weekended in Los Angeles (Getty Museum is fantastic!). Overall, we were seeking an area that offered more than golf, and this is the place!..... Speaking of golf, which was our major pasttime, the Castle Creek Golf Course is challenging enough to keep most golfers interested. The course offers fantastic monthly rates for Snowbirds and we certainly took advantage of it over the three months. Would we come back - absolutely! Hopefully in the very near future.
