Luxurious amenities combine with beach casual to make our Nid d'Amour (Love Nest) distinctive. In it's prior life a 'pole barn', this property has now been restyled into seventeen hundred square feet of self-contained comfort. Just a short walk to the community beach access where the Mouth of the Elwha River and Strait of Juan de Fuca converge, with acres of sandy beach. Most days it seems like your own private beach, with only a few surfers or beachcombers. When you arrive at your destination the refreshing sea air tells you immediately that this is a very special home-away-from-home and the scented evergreens whisper their welcome, and the waves provide a relaxing, natural soundtrack,.

While oriented to the woods and fully fenced for maximum privacy, guests are lulled to sleep by the sound of the surf. Rainy days on Freshwater Bay are a delight because as the rain patterns on the tin roof, you are cozy with a cheery fire, books to read or board games to play. We are located less than 1/4 mile walk from the public beach access where the mouth of the Elwha River meets the bay.. In addition to the many known attractions ofClallam county, we have guests who bird at the mouth of the river. We have hosted guests interested in the Elwha Dam Removal Project, authors who crave a quiet place to think and write, as well as the film crew who documented the history of the river and salmon habitat in a documentary called The Breach. A lot of guests feels we are centrally located to all the natural wonders here on the Olympic Peninsula.

Snuggle by the fireplace before slipping into the silky comfort of the European linens on your Cal-King canopied bed. The second bedroom contains an Eastern King (wider than longer), Enjoy cooking in a well-equipped galley style kitchen. .Lyndee refuses to cook on vacation-or ever anymore- but guests who enjoy cooking have said we have the best equipped kitchen of any vacation rental they have visited. Or enjoy the unique flavors of the Pacific Northwest at one of the many excellent restaurants in town. (We are eight miles west of downtown Port Angeles, the park entrance for Hurricane Ridge or Victoria ferries).

Take a dip in your double fenced private hot tub, count all the stars you can't see living in town and revel in the sounds and smells of our woods and sea. We frequently get guests who tell us 'last night was the best I've slept in ages.''

While often used by lovers who want to get away from it all, (and frequent honeymooners), the house has been enthusiastically received by families wanting a unique location to use as their home base while they explore the wonders of the Olympic Peninsula or day-trip to Victoria, British Columbia. To enter Canada an enhanced drivers license or passports are required for each traveler. We took two grandchildren to Canada and at that time they accepted birth certificates as ID. Check with the Coho and Victoria Clipper, if parents divorced, a notarized letter from the non-custodial parent granting permission for the day trip. Originally with only a master bedroom with large Cal-King bed, we have added a second bedroom with a plush Eastern King bed, both covered with imported Italian linens.
Some guests could care less about TV but we do have a Smart TV( Directv Prime, Netflix, Hulu, Discovery Plus, AMC, Showtime, HBO Max) and hundreds of DVDs. We have Prime streaming and a huge selection of channels.

Kid-friendly amenities include board games, glider, a fire pit for weenie and marshmallow roasts (we provide s'more supplies) plus, it's a 5-10 minute walk or one minute drive to the beach and the Elwha Delta.

The owners of the Love Nest live next door and are delighted to help their guests plan their excursions, recommend wonderful places to dine or even arrange for a masseuse to attend you after a full day of activities.

We enjoyed our stay in Port Angeles! The converted pole barn was so comfy and with 2 bathrooms was a wonderful place to share with our son and his wife. We were be able to see family living near by and pop into Port Angeles during the holiday weekend. It was walking distance to the beach with our dogs and had a great little fenced yard. We enjoyed the hot tub and appreciated the well stocked kitchen for cooking.

From booking to checkout this was a great experience. Warm and welcoming hosts who live next door but there is no issue with privacy - it’s separated and landscaped so that you’d never know the houses connect. The place is stocked with the essentials and more. Plus it is very cozy and comfortable - best 2 nights of sleep we’ve had in ages. We like to paddle board, so being steps from the Elwha and Freshwater Bay were perfect for our excursions. Just two of us for this trip and we plan to return.

Allen and Lyndee were fantastic hosts! The place was great, had everything we needed and more, and was a good home base for our Olympic Peninsula adventures. We saw deer multiple days on our walk to the beach and even a doe with two fawns one morning. We eloped at Lake Crescent and Allen and Lyndee even had a bottle of champagne for us! Couldn’t have asked for kinder people to welcome us to Port Angeles.

The host was not only welcoming but walked us through the house to make sure we knew where everything was as some light switches were not obvious. Also how to warm up the jacuzzi which unfortunately we didn't get a chance to use. Also helped us find the path to the beach!

Great location. Very quiet, well-furnished with interesting decor and book selection. Everything worked well, felt very private and a bit exotic. Only recommendation would be flipping or rotating mattresses. Both beds had noticeable depressions on both sides in normal sleeping positions. Overall a very nice visit and accommodations. We would recommend your property to other like-minded people.

Allen and Lyndee’s place is a very eclectic, quirky, fun home to stay in. The decor alone is entertaining! Clean & comfortable home with quite literally everything you might need. Very thoughtfully stocked. We very much enjoyed the hot tub and yard with the fire pit. Allen & Lyndee are very kind and it’s nice knowing they are next door in case anything is needed. Yet you will not feel your privacy is invaded at all. We felt secluded in our little home away from home.

This place was great. We wanted a nice getaway weekend from the city where we could relax and be near the beach. This place far exceeded our expectations. The place felt very homey, it was easy to get comfortable and relax. The jetted tub and the hot tub really helped too. There was plenty of space and a very well stocked kitchen. The yard was great, being able to bring the dogs was a huge bonus. We were in walking distance to the beach, very easy walk down to the water with the dogs. The environment is beautiful and peaceful. Allen is a great host and made communication easy and check in was smooth. We really felt at home staying here and will be back again.

Perfect place to spend a quiet weekend away from home, just the two of us and the dogs. Everything we needed to relax and chill out. Well stocked kitchen, plenty of games, movies and books, a fully fenced yard for the dogs - no need to leave the house except to enjoy a walk along the beach. It’s hard to find a place that allows big dogs, so that was a huge plus!

We had a wonderful girls’ getaway for two nights and wish we could have stayed longer. The spacious accommodations in this beautiful area were immaculately clean, well-stocked with far more than the basics, and has every form of entertainment along with games and a huge library for book lovers. After a friendly and thorough tour from one of the owners, we enjoyed time on the beach and then a relaxing evening in the tastefully decorated home. 5 stars! The only minus was the lack of dry firewood and kindling for the outdoor fire pit- so youmight consider bringing your own.

Many listings look great, but the reality doesn’t hold up. Not so this time - Lyndee and Allen’s place was even nicer in person. It was extremely well appointed with nice linens, quality kitchen appliances, and coffee, tea, and s’mores fixings. Allen was very welcoming of our dogs, and we loved soaking in the (very nice, if shallow) hot tub while our pups sniffed around the fully fenced backyard. It’s about a 5-10 minute walk down to a lovely dog-friendly beach, where our dogs loved playing in the waves. A++++ will return!
