First, I will focus on the positive. The view from the house of Otter Bay is wonderful. You have an unobstructed view of the bay and we were fortunate to see sea otters in the water from our windows. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend staying at this property for the following reasons listed in descending order. First, there was a significant odor in the house. The odor was primarily in the large bedroom with the four post queen bed. We tried sleeping in this room but the smell was so strong we had to move to another room. We closed off the room to minimize the smell throughout the house and had to purchase air fresheners the next day to help make the remainder of the living spaces tolerable. Second, the dishwasher had a significant odor when we first opened the door. We decided to run the dishwasher empty with detergent to see if this would solve the problem. We discovered while having the dishwasher go through its cycle that the dishwasher door would unlatch, causing the dishwasher to stop. This happened several times and we finally had to prop a chair against the door in order for the dishwashing cycle to finish. When not in operation, we kept the dishwasher door open to prevent the odor from returning. The door on the dishwasher could not be left open partially (possibly a broken return spring) so we had to leave the door all the way down. There were issues with the shower door not preventing water from getting on the floor and lack towel bars to hang towels. Can’t type more

Beautiful location! Accommodation was ok with outdate furniture, and small 2person coffee pot.

Great location at the south end of Lopez with blazing sunsets lasting a couple hours. So minute walk to Iceberg Point.

A comfortable waterfront house in a quiet area with a stunning view. Agate beach and the trails along Iceberg Point were gorgeous.

What an incredible spot! The house could definitely use some maintenance, from a broken window shade, to a broken coffee table, there are things that could be taken care of. We tried to call both numbers we were given and only able to leave a message at one, the first didn't even accept messages! Sent pictures and a message to the hosts but never heard back. All that said....an amazing location!

We loved being right on the beach and close to iceberg point. The house is dated and shows lots of signs of wear, but also was comfortable and met our needs. You can’t really beat watching the ocean from the living room window like that! We also enjoyed having such easy beach access.

If you are looking for a quiet getaway, this place has it all for you. Plenty of walks nearby for beachcombing and forest bathing.Town is a short drive away if you miss some activity and the ferry terminal is about 20 minute drive to take a jaunt to a neighboring island. InterIsland travel is free for walk on passengers. Please read the listing carefully. We were under the impression that laundry facilities were on site. Some materials list them and others do not. Confirm if you need them. There is a town laundromat but it will require about an hour and a half of your time for a wash and dry. Bring quarters!!

We had a great time at the house which is across a lane from a private beach. The house is fully equipped but has some quirky aspects. Loved the large windows and sand dollar lamps

Great kitchen with nice amenities, dishes etc. Beautiful location on Agate beach where there were breathtaking sunsets. Bedrooms comfy and loved the feather pillows. Still quite rustic, all furnishings are from the 70s and the front window views are amazing. Saw Loons swimming and eating, the large Herons eating and admired beautiful rocks on the shore. Hikes to Iceberg Point were beautiful with more amazing views!

The one-level home was roomy and comfortable. The views and the proximity to Iceberg Point was great! This is a good way to unplug from the world with no Wi-Fi available. Play board games, go for a hike, and a stroll by the water! We saw seals, herons, and birds from the dining room window!

If you want to have ocean views and beach access this is the place. It is a bit dated but has a well equipped and updated kitchen. Be sure to download your favorite shows as there is no wifi. They did provide an assortment of DVDs, which was an educational experience for our kids.

This home has 3 bedrooms, one bathroom with a shower, two dining areas, a living room with basic TV, and a nice galley kitchen. Is the home showing its age and time next to the ocean? Definitely. But it’s well-maintained inside and is a great base for fun days at the beach. Save for furniture, it is sparsely furnished— don’t expect many extra towels, any cleaning products, or any of the basics (like salt and pepper or oil) if you are planning to cook, but there are stores on the island if you need anything you didn’t pack. We spent hours on the beach rockhounding and playing and would love to return on future family trips.
