Blanding, Utah
Note: Two bedrooms and One bahtroom are down the stairs!
Aloha!! Welcome to BIG Bear! We share this home in hopes you’ll make some unforgettable memories at our unique and family-friendly place.
Close to downtown Blanding and the bears ears monument.
You won’t find a more funky and fun home to use as Your basecamp for adventure!
Mahalo,
Billy O’ and Tiger.
Please don’t wear shoes in our home at any time. We’ve taken special care to decorate the house with cool stuff from far and away during our travels.
Keeping the dirt out of the house is key and since we are from Hawaii it’s a cultural thing to not wear shoes in the house.
Mahalo for following this very important rule.
Guests will be able to reach us if they need us but we won’t be in the area most of the time. We do have excellent teammates in town if you need assistance with anything.
Large corner lot in town. Surrounding you have the edge of the cedars, tons of trails, the abajos, canyonlands and natural bridges are just a quick jaunt from the house.
You can also hit capitol reef, bluff and Moab with a quick drive.
The house is yours 100%. We stay here a few weeks a year when we aren’t traveling for work and we’ve been professional hosts since the 90’s so hopefully we’ve got everything you need to have a super good time.
This is NOT a party house. It’s a basecamp for adventure (Blanding’s motto) for us and we appreciate everyone who stays here focusing on two things.
1. Be respectful and kind to our neighbors.
2. Be good stewards of the surrounding land. The mountains and desert surrounding our “Big Bear” is super special to us and the locals. Let’s make sure we keep it pristine while enjoying the beauty.
Aloha! Welcome to our special basecamp we call BIG bear. It’s all decked out with fun finds from Morocco and other desert African countries we’ve visited.
We felt it was fitting to decorate our desert home with these fun items. But for this reason we want to remind all reading this is a solace and not a place to get wild and crazy. It’s a quiet town full of adventure.
We love this area because it’s even more central than Moab when it comes to epic adventures in SE Utah. If you know the area, you know Blanding is actually the best jump off point for the best fun around!
We came here for the annular eclipse. The weather was perfect, not a cloud in the sky. We've been to this part of Utah in the summer and I've got to say that October is sooo much nicer. The house was centrally located, Arches/Canyonlands are about 1.5 hours north, Monument Valley about the same to the south. Hovenweep was a bit closer, about an hour away. Unfortunately we didn't have enough to time to visit Natural Bridges but it's about an hour to the west. The house itself was nice, plenty of room for our family. Every room had it's own wall mounted A/C unit. The kitchen was well stocked so we only had to pick up a few things at City Market in Moab. Will definitely consider renting again in the future.
Big Bear was the perfect launching point for friends and family who were running an ultra marathon through the mountains of Bears Ears and for those of us who just wanted to enjoy the beauty of the area. The house was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with what we needed. Communication with Billy and his staff was smooth, responsive, and friendly. We had a great time and would definitely return if we’re in the area.
Had a great time! The house was lovely.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay and explored this great area of Southern Utah. The property was as listed and served as our space to reunite with friends. The house has plenty of room, simple efficient amenities, in a quiet neighborhood, and well supplied kitchen. Communication with host was excellent. Definitely would stay again.
The house was as advertised and was roomy and comfortable for two families to enjoy (7 people). The kitchen is nice and well stocked. The only noticeable item missing is a corkscrew. I gave the property 4 of 5 stars because it was not ideally set up for a winter visit. Four of the five beds did not have blankets only sheets. We were also only able to find two blankets and they were lightweight. Fortunately the second family came a day later and brought additional blankets. Overall this is a very nice property and is a great spot for exploring southeast Utah.
Plenty of room for large group of people
