Stayed Nov 25, 2025We had a good time here, but I had some significant issues with the way the property was listed. To the host’s credit, they said they will address them. In case they don’t, here's a rundown: The listing prominently mentioned the “Entire Home” was available, and then far down it says it’s a “ground unit in two-story home.” That’s a bit of a conflict. In reality, it’s a two rental unit house, so if you don’t like noise above you, keep that in mind. (Was OK during our stay.) I would have let that go, but there were other conflicts and inaccuracies. It prominently lists “Laundry” as an amenity, but then deep down it says it doesn’t have washer and dryer and that the laundromat is in town. The listing also says “hardwood flooring in public areas,” which sounds nice but isn’t accurate unless you think luxury vinyl flooring is hardwood. It says there’s a garden. There’s not one, unless I guess you consider the beach a giant garden – I sort of do! The listing also mentions a “newly remodeled kitchen,” which is not true unless you think appliances that are 10-12 years old are new. Small things, I know, but they add up. Finally, these units are on septic, which means you’re awfully close to the drain field in this ground unit. The unit also had an odd musty smell, like an old thrift store. That said, the owners took a lot of care in decorating it an old-timey beach vibe, and again, the beach is right there out the door.

Stayed Apr 2, 2025This house is a trip back in time. It’s old and special. We loved everything about it from the location to the well supplied beach house but my favorite part was the sitting deck at the end of the short hop over the dunes boardwalk. No other house (that I noticed) had a sitting area on their boardwalk but this one does and it’s on point. It made the short walk to the beach easy for toy and chair storage and a great place to welcome the sunrise. The other great thing about this property is the lack of stars. From the house to the water it can’t be more than 8 or 10 to climb each way. Thats a lot less than most of the neighbors. This house is a treasure. It’s not a shiny new dime it’s Grandma and Granddaddy's beach house and we loved the stay. I would book this house again it works for a party of 3 or 4 easily and makes for a great time on the beach.

Stayed Sep 21, 2024We LOVED our stay here. The direct beach access was perfect and the spot on the beach had a great tidal pool during low tide the kids played in. There is also a grassy area out back that had so many butterflies. Our toddler had a blast running around with his net catching and releasing butterflies. The house is old but cute and we'll decorated. The furniture was super comfy. The kitchen was well stocked with plates, bowls, pans, etc for us to cook anything we needed. Unfortunately we had to relocate due to a maintenance issue early on, but the host was easy to work with and gave us good options to recover our stay. When we're back in Folly, this will be the first place we try to book as long as we all fit.

Stayed Aug 3, 2024We were so disappointed our stay was cut short due to weather hurricane Debby and that we spent so much money for only one night. It definitely would not have been safe to stay in a little beach house that was build at sand level and the local restaurant workers advised us to leave although VRBO did not. We realize you cannot control the weather though some refund for unused days would have gone a long way.

Stayed Aug 9, 2024The house's layout and location were perfect for our family. Management was very responsive and flexible. That said, the house smells strongly of creosote (somewhere between kerosene and mothballs). The bottom floor was likely constructed of creosote-treated phone poles (common at the beach) and enclosed after the upstairs was built. As a result, the creosote poles offgas noticeably into the house. If you are sensitive to smells this may be an issue. Management was very nice about it, but there is no way to address the smell.

Stayed Jul 28, 2024Location awesome. Even with neighbors above it was quiet. Great access to the beach. Only negative - beds are very worn, and master bed is very creaky.

Stayed Jul 2, 2024The house was well stocked with everything we needed for a family of four and a beach vacation. Property management communicated quickly with us when we had questions. Town is a short bike trip away and the beach, well, is right out the back door!

Stayed Jun 12, 2024There were a couple of maintenance issues. One of the bathroom doorknobs fell off, and the bathroom sink did not drain very well. We would have really appreciated if a couple of beach towels were available. Loved the beach decor, the porch and swing!!
