Charming 100 year old remodeled 2 Story Historic Artist Cottage Duplex in Peters Gate nestled in a Grove of Redwoods & Cypress trees. Fully Furnished with all amenities. Centrally located to Downtown, Fisherman's Wharf, Golfing & Big Sur.
A lovely house in a quiet and safe neighbourhood in walking distance of the centre of town. We found it well equipped (especially the kitchen) and very comfortable, and everything was clean and tiny. There was a parking space right outside by the gate, and the garden even had redwoods in it! Our only real problem was that the rain in the night was very noisy on the roof in the bedroom (we stayed in January). If it had not rained, we would have had a faultless experience.
Five stars for Lisa's charming, impeccably clean and ideally located property. My wife and I visited our son and his family. The three grandkids came over (one at a time so grandpa remained centered) and we had a perfect vacation. This was the best VRBO we have stayed in. Lisa was always prompt, responsive and gracious answering any and all of our questions during our 11 day visit. You will love this wonderful house. We will be back again soon!
If your looking for a lot of MODERN CREATURE COMFORTS this is possibly not your place. House was built in 1916 and the owners have worked hard to make it a comfortable home. Heating System on the bottom floor is awkward to operate that it has no thermostat that you can set so when you turn it on it’s what you get! Unfortunately, same for upstairs. We didn’t need to try the cooling system. The weather while we were there was very cool. In my opinion the bathrooms could use Grab Bars. All and all if your not looking for a four or five star property this might work. It is a quaint older property. A highlight of the property for us was its proximity to the down town area and very easy to get around to all the tourist sites, restaurants and grocery stores. Would we go back and stay here again? If we were younger, we are 82 and 79 respectively maybe so. But with the amount of steps that are required to climb between floors and the lack of safety appliances we would probably not. In finishing up …. I WILL say you couldn’t ask for a more gracious and accommodating Host. Lisa was the best! Best of luck to them as they continue to rent this home out. Sincerely, Tony & Aleita Pizzo
You'll enjoy this gem.
This is a nicely fixed-up older home in a nice neighborhood that is conveniently close to many places. Add in 2 large TVs, comfortable furniture, and a well stocked kitchen, and our stay was a pleasure.
We needed somewhere to stay since we were working as food vendors at the Monterey County Fair. This place was perfect for my team of 4. With 2 bathrooms and 3 beds. It was very quiet and clean. Will definitely stay here again for next years fair.
This was a family/business trip, and while I had to work, the family spent a lot of time both at the house and around the beautiful water that surrounds this area. The house was perfect, and kids loved and were amazed how well the space was utilized! The place had a feel of the mountains/forest. Highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a very cozy, wonderfully located house.
Perfect location to explore Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur and kayak Moss Bay. The house is a lovely 100 year old gem. Our family of 3 had a perfect week relaxing and exploring the area. The daybed upstairs was too small for our 6 foot teenager so he slept on the sofa bed downstairs. Ample space for all of us; our mattress upstairs was very comfy. Definitely functional; could be more funky and uniquely decorated to match the age/style and history as told by Lisa the manager. Porch is great but needs some actual furniture (maybe a swing?). Lisa is very accommodating and communicative; when I mentioned I was a percussionist she invited me to her place to a hand-drum jam with her and her significant other, both very accomplished in West African drumming. Great time. Highly recommend this place for one small family. If 2nd room upstairs had a couple of beds, maybe a trundle and a bunk bed, and the downstairs had a larger sofa bed, maybe 2 families could fit… just a suggestion to increase the potential renter field. Loved this cottage!!
This was a fantastic place. Super clean, super private, quiet, well stocked kitchen and very hot water! It was exactly as pictured in the photos. Monterey is a very walkable town and this location was perfect for taking in all that was available. It also is very close to the freeway and 17 mile Drive, crucial to us getting to and from Pebble Beach Golf Course for the week. It's chilly in the area in July but the fireplaces were more than adequate even for us desert dwellers. The owner was super responsive when we needed her. This will be our first choice when booking in Monterey again. Thanks so much for making it a great trip!
Wonderful place to spend a few weeks in Monterey, close to everything including Fishermans Wharf, Cannery Row, the Monterey Aquarium, beautiful area with momma and baby dear wandering, lovely neighbors. Would recommend! Lisa was wonderful to work with.
I stayed here for 2 weeks for work. I felt very comfortable and cozy. The house had everything I needed. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen had everything I needed to cook full meals. The location is only 5 min from town. The property is surrounded by big trees and flowers. Lisa was warm, accommodating and very responsive to my needs, I hated to leave and will definitely come back.
We greatly enjoyed our stay at this lovely house. It was comfortable and conveniently-located, and the neighborhood was quiet and calm. We highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a wonderful, relaxing place to stay!
