This house does have air conditioning to cool off on those hot days.

Because of the tight knit neighborhood, a maximum of six (6) people are allowed at this property at any given time, this includes overnight and daytime guests/visitors.

The Cottage:
Del Mar Cottage is the charming 1920's Air Conditioned cottage by the sea you've been dreaming about. The character of this cottage, from traditional architectural details like crystal door knobs and elegant crown molding with beautiful easy open windows to let the cool sea breeze in, make this get a way a 'must stay'.

The Garden:
Relax on the garden's porch swing while reading and sipping your favorite lemonaid. Later enjoy some stargazing from your luxurious outdoor spa while planning the next day's ferry ride, antiquing or golf game.

The Neighborhood:
Just 15 minutes north of Gig harbor is Del Mar Cottage's tiny neighborhood of South Colby, nestled between Port Orchard, just 5 minutes to the West, or the Southworth ferry dock to Seattle, just 4 minutes the East. This charming cottage seems to have guarded the bay for many, many decades. Make Del Mar Cottage part of your next get away. You'll want to come back every year!

Walks & Dog Lovers: There are several wonderful walks to take your dog on for an adventure. By the way, the house allows a maximum of two dogs, and each dog is a separate pet fee. Del Mar Cottage is one house back from the beach, but there is a quiet, single lane frontage road that is directly on the beach, great for walks and viewing all that the beach has to offer. The frontage road (SE Cornell) is just west of the Del Mar Cottage gate.

Then, just 1/8 of a mile east from the cottage is Harper Pier, overlooking Puget Sound. Continue your walk another 1/8 of a mile to the park just past SE Scatterwood Lane; great for letting the dog run in the fenced little league base ball area.

Across from the park is a natural boat and kayak launch, great for letting the dog play in the water!

We loved our stay at the Del Mar Cottage! The house is so cute and cozy, and super close to both the ferry and activities. Kitchen was fully stocked which made making pizza for family board game night super convenient.

Overall, it was a good stay on Southworth at the English Cottage. Our host was easy to contact and responsive to our questions and needs. Property was clean, safe, and comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked with essentials. Beds were comfortable. Hot tub on property was excellent. Location close to ferry access was a big plus. A few small suggestions or oppprtunities for improvement include making sure the check - in access code was correct and loaded prior to arrival. Updating instructions and procedures for maintaining the hot tub. It was actually much easier once we found out what was done in advance and needed for our stay. Finally, keeping the backyard clean and enjoyable every morning was a bit of a chore given the lush conditions and nearby tall trees. Also, we were not able to locate the patio umbrella for some additional shade during late afternoons. Finally, the views of the sound were somewhat limited with the new construction in the neighborhood and overgrown trees off property. There is also an abandoned house blocking otherwise potentially stunning views of the sound.

Cute little cottage surrounded by green gardens. Fair view of the ocean/bay. We drove to an inlet near the cottage and walked down to the little one way road that followed along the beach. Lots of seaweed and dead/live crabs. Great location. Fun quiet place. My son loved the piano that could play itself!

I liked the location, view, hot tub, AC, and gardens. The 100-year-old cottage is quaint and quirky. Unfortunately, the outdoor surfaces (chairs, tables) were filthy. We couldn't use them. The photos online didn't show the lack of upkeep outside. The linens were cleaned in the strongest perfumed laundry detergent. We were very allergic and had to go get our own bedding and towels. The king mattress was very comfortable but the wood bed frame was dangerous for knees and legs, getting in and out or walking around it.After we brought over our own chairs we enjoyed being outside. Getting to the frontage road on foot via the highway is hazardous. The property manager was kind, responsive, and helpful. Overall, I'd give the house 3.5 - 4 stars for lack of cleanliness outside and the strong laundry soap.

We had everything we needed for a long holiday weekend. The host was friendly and responded quickly. We enjoyed being able to quickly walk down to the water, and seeing deer in the yard next to the house. The hot tub was gorgeous on our chilly, cloudy nights!

We enjoyed our stay at this house. It was nicely decorated and well-equipped equipped with everything we needed. We saw deer in the back and front yard, which was fun. The area was tranquil. The picture in the listing from the hot tub has changed a little as a huge building has gone up behind the building, but there is still a view of the bay.

I stayed here for the weekend of my wedding, as it was right down the road from the venue. It was more than I expected. Extremely clean and cozy, the hot tub was kept at the perfect temp, jazz playing when I checked in. I think the checkout list is a little excessive, but I would absolutely stay here again.
