Charm between sea and mountains

Great house in a beautiful, quaint location. Right across the street from the wine bar, a 2mn walk from the bakery, butcher, grocer... and quite a few restaurants. 20 mn from the beach. Lots of trails into the mountains. Philippe, the owner is very nice , this is our second time in one of his properties. Highly recommended.PS. The wine bar can get a little loud in the evening, just people laughing and the music in the background. Not a problem for us, but it could be for some.

It was a very special time for us to be in Philippe’s rental in Laroque-des-Alberes for five plus weeks this winter. The house is one of the most spacious and comfortable we’ve rented during our decades of travel. Especially nice is the sunlight that brightens every room. Though there were only two of us, the house would easily accommodate 4-6. It has everything in the ways of need and convenience: kitchen supplies along with a good selection of staples, washing machine, great shower, and reliable internet. On each of the two floors are two patios as well, one when you need shade and the other to bask in the sun. The house is wonderfully located in the heart of the town, and for convenience a boulangerie/patisserie, a small grocery with an excellent selection of cheeses, and a butcher are a very short walk away. There are also several restaurants close by.The history and culture of the area are rich and deep from the many, many beautiful Romanesque and medieval chapels, abbeys, churches to the modern artists who worked in Seret, Collioure, and Banyuls-sur-Mer. And the stunning varied landscape of the region is a walker/ hiker’s delight with exceedingly well-signed trails along the sea coast and in the hills, mountains, and valleys.All of this coupled with the kindness and thoughtfulness of Philippe made our stay a full and filling one of pure pleasure.

Very nice! With a good kitchen

Very nice house, well equipped and warm in wintertime. Situated in the mid of the village. Philippe is a sypathic and fast respondive owner. We will be back definitely.

Philippe was incredibly helpful on arrival and the house was just as described with everything you could possibly need. We particularly enjoyed the balconies. The village has a fantastic selection of bars and restaurants - we sampled many of them and we found every meal to be excellent. The coastline is beautiful and we wish that we’d had more time to explore. We hope to return again soon to see more.
