Castaway Cottage is a beautifully updated beach house with a separate apartment, ideally located across the street from the beach and backing up to a scenic canal—perfect for fishing right in your own backyard. Set on a large, shaded tropical lot, this home invites you to relax, unwind, and settle into island life.
Enjoy ocean breezes and the sound of waves from the spacious screened porch, or open the sliders for an airy indoor-outdoor living experience. The backyard canal offers some of the best fishing on Fripp Island, along with easy access for kayaking or boating from the private dock.
The main house (upstairs) features an open floor plan with a well-equipped kitchen, dining area, and comfortable living room that opens directly to the screened porch. Two king master suites include sliding glass doors to the porch, and an additional bedroom with two full beds brings the upstairs sleeping capacity to eight.
The separate ground-level apartment offers privacy and flexibility, with an open living and dining area surrounded by windows, a kitchenette, a full bathroom, and a bedroom with two twin beds—ideal for extended family or guests who appreciate their own space.
Beach access #23 is directly across the street and features a ramped boardwalk—no stairs—making beach days easy and accessible.

PETS MUST BE PREAPPROVED (DOGS ONLY).  You will be asked to sign a pet agreement and pay a non refundable $150 pet fee for the first pet and $75 for a 2nd pet. An additional $300 will be charged for guests that show up with a dog without approval.

A few notes about the island - We are club members which means that the Club amenity cards are available for purchase.  The Fripp Island Club requires amenity cards for you to frequent their amenities. These amenities include golfing, playing tennis, going to the restaurants on Fripp, going to the swimming pools and the fitness room. 

 
Club cards are required to enjoy any of the Fripp Island Resort amenities and they are available for purchase with this property. If you opt to purchase cards, a 12.8% resort fee based on the rental amount before taxes, cleaning and other fees will be charged in addition to the cost of the individual Club cards.
 

Each guest 13 years or older must carry an amenity card to access the Club's facilities.  There are a few places on Fripp Island that you do not need an amenity card. SpringTide Market is at the front of the island that has a large menu at their deli. From breakfast sandwiches to family BBQ meals, there is a lot to choose from. There is also a deli at the Marina that serves sandwiches and salads. The Fripp Ship and Mango stores are fun to go into for your perfect souvenir.

If this property offers club cards for access to Fripp Island Resort amenities, a new 12.8% of the total rent resort fee will be charged in addition to the cost of the individual club cards. After booking this property, VRBO will charge their service fee separately and then the reservation will be transferred to FrippIslandStay where the property owner or manager will charge your credit card for the other items seen in the quote provided by VRBO. The refundable security deposit if applicable will be included in the final payment. You will also have the opportunity to purchase travel insurance and damage protection insurance on FrippIslandStay.

You will receive an email with log in information from FrippIslandStay right after booking. Please check your spam or promotions folders. Once logged in to FrippIslandStay, you will be able to order club cards if available and gate passes for access to the island.

    This house was a great place to stay to fish in the canal out back and cross the road to the beach. We had a great vacation with ages from 3 to 80 in the house. My only not 5 star would be the comfort of furniture in main living areas, especially for the grandmothers, but otherwise the owners were so helpful with any questions and handling a A/C issue without interrupting any fun. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

    The location can’t be beat as it’s right across from the beach and close to all of the Fripp activities. Property is in rough shape (beat-up old furniture, squeaky beds) and the cleaning left a lot to be desired. For what we paid, we were expecting the property to be a bit nicer. Property management group was very responsive… I communicated with them about the cleaning issues and they responded right away. If you’re not looking for anything fancy and want to be walking distance to the beach, you will like this place.

    This was actually the second time my family and I had stayed at this property. Since there is a separate apartment with a living room, kitchenette, bathroom, and bedroom, we found it to be convenient when traveling with teens who could stay in there and have their own space. The property was clean and comfortable and is a perfect location right across the street from the beach. It came with an electric golf cart in great condition, and tons and tons of beach chairs, body boards and other beach supplies. My family and I had a wonderful time and would love to stay again.

    My family and I love going to Fripp, and we had a great time at this house! Great location, with the beach access almost directly across the street (one house down). The main living area and 3 bedrooms (and a bathroom for each bedroom) are on the top level, and there is a separate apartment on the ground level with its own entrance thru the garage that has a fridge, microwave (no stove) and 1 bedroom, 1 bath, and living area that we found perfect for the teens. The home was clean and comfortable. We had a few questions when we arrived and the management was very fast to respond. I would recommend this property and would stay again. :)

    The picture misrepresents the actual furnishings, age, and condition of the property. Based upon the pictures, we were expecting a much nicer home. Overall it was average. Furniture was mismatched and not what was represented. The deck and outside areas were worn and dirty. Ceiling fans on the deck were old, off balance, and loud... could not use them. Not sure it had been thoroughly cleaned. Kitchen counter and bath tub/ shower was dirty. Needed some routine maintenance. The screen was torn on the front door. The deck door did not align with closure allowing some bugs in during the evening. The towel racks fell off the wall in all three bathrooms when towels were placed on them. Location on the island was nice. The use of the golf cart was a nice perk. Property manager was helpful assisted with a miscommunication concerning boat storage. Originally we were told we could keep a boat at the home, but learned upon arrival with the boat that the HOA does not allow boat storage at the homes. Property manager was responsive and helpful in resolving.
