THE SHORT VERSION

A reclaimed-wood cabin under the palms with a garage door for a bedroom wall. Roll it up and the bed opens straight onto a covered deck with a hot tub and a clear roof you can watch the sky through. Real kitchen, fire pit, three miles from the oldest city in America. Sleeps four.

THE ROLL-UP DOOR

The bedroom's fourth wall is a corrugated garage door. Roll it up in the morning and the room becomes a porch — bed, breeze, palms overhead, the spa three steps away. Roll it down at night and it is the snuggest room in the world. It closes and locks like any other door, so the bedroom is exactly as open as you want it to be. Nobody forgets it.

INSIDE

Walls of warm reclaimed pallet wood and corrugated metal, a white vaulted ceiling that makes the place feel twice its size, and a brick wall behind the dining table. The kitchen is a real one — range, oven, full-size refrigerator and a big butcher-block island with stools pulled up to it. You can genuinely cook here, which is not true of every tiny home. A long table for dinner. In the living room, a sofa, a smart TV and a ceiling fan turning slowly, and a full futon that sleeps two more.

The bathroom is corrugated metal and wood, with a walk-in shower and a round mirror over a live-edge vanity.

THE DECK

Covered, with a clear roof, so the palms and the sky stay overhead while the weather stays off. The hot tub sits at one end, chairs and a table at the other, and the trees come right up to the rail. Out front, a fire pit ring set into white shell.

HOW IT FEELS

The door rolled up and coffee in bed with the palms moving. The long middle of an afternoon in the spa, light coming down through the roof. Dinner at the big table. The fire lit after dark, and the sound of frogs starting up.

WHAT IT IS FOR

Couples who want somewhere with a story. Two couples travelling together. Anyone who has scrolled past a hundred identical rentals and is looking for the one that is nothing like the others.

WHERE IT IS

Three miles from historic downtown St. Augustine, about ten minutes from the beach. From mid-November through January the Nights of Lights run downtown, and this is a very good place to come home to afterward.

WHAT YOU PAY

One cleaning fee of $145 covers the full turnover - linens, laundry, the spa and the deck - and it drops to $105 on one- and two-night stays. There is no resort fee, no service fee and no booking fee on top. A pet fee applies if you bring your dog. Everything appears in your quote before you book.

Need a little extra time You can check in early at 2 PM or check out late at noon for $45, depending on the bookings around yours. It's one or the other, since our cleaning schedule can't stretch on both ends. Just message us to ask.

SMOKE-FREE INSIDE. Casa Gaucho is smoke-free inside, cigarettes, cannabis and vaping included. Smoking is welcome outdoors, and ashtrays are provided. If signs of smoking are found inside, a $300 smoke-remediation cleaning fee applies, and any damage is billed separately.
