Mesa - Blueberry Hill - 7 miles to Taos village, 16 miles to Taos Ski Valley with 1 stop light only
Nestled on a Blueberry Hill "ridge" with incomparable 360 degree views, Casa de Legado is a private serene sanctuary, centrally located between Taos Village and Taos Ski Valley. Guests enjoy the ease of getting to and from all corners of Taos activities and sights with very little traffic.
Formerly the home of a well-known Taos artist, Casa de Legado abounds with southwest charm and ambiance. Enjoy the rich experience of romantic adobe arches, Saltillo tile floors, two traditional hand crafted wood burning kiva fireplaces and authentic viga ceilings throughout.
Central in the floor plan is the sunken living room with large flat screen satellite TV and custom designed, hand crafted wood burning kiva fireplace. Please note the property does not have cable or satellite TV as all of the TV's are smart TV's with Roku. All rooms branch out from there including the large and grand "bonus" sun room with cast iron pot belly fireplace and 3 floor to ceiling window walls creating a bright and uplifting grandeur. The sun room, furnished with a large comfy sofa, round table & chairs for dining, games, computers and morning coffee, provides grand views with all activities.
In addition to the two living areas and 360 panoramic mountain views, is the added amenity of a deck with views. The deck overlooks a large hot tub for "starry, starry nights", like most folks have never seen, thus adding a most rare and relaxing visual experience. The traditional "chiminea" (southwest clay pot fireplace) adds evening warmth and ambiance. Yes! Taos really has delightfully cool mountain air evenings throughout summer, all for guest enjoyment.
The fully furnished upscale kitchen / dining area has views through the sunken living room to the kiva fireplace for added dining ambiance. Adjoining the dining area is an enclosed patio with gas grill for barbecue pleasure.
The two bedrooms enjoy a double sound barrier with two back to back bathrooms located between them.
Casa de Legado is all about vacation comfort and pleasure. Your group will "Thank You" for finding this treasure.
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Casa de Legado (Legacy House) was wonderful. We stayed at the house for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The kitchen was well appointed. We prepared several meals and everything you need for basic cooking is provided. The living room was comfortable and cozy, especially while watching the snow fall in the courtyard. The family room area was perfect for playing cards and gazing at the snow. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms were perfect for the stay. The only thing I was not fond of was the number of steps in the house. Down 2 steps to the living room from the front door. Up 2 steps to the kitchen. Up one step to the family room. Down 1 step to the bedrooms. Not my taste, but didn't affect our overall enjoyment of the property.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Casa de Legado was comfortable, clean and full of character. The views were really nice. The home made a great home base for the trip. It offered peace, yet was close enough to town and Ski Valley to make it convenient. Thank you for a great stay!
Beautiful home, lots of space inddors and out. Lots of windows for natural light and views. Clean and well stocked with essentials. Great communication. Plenty of parking, if needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will look forward to returning to Taos again.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Lovely house and location...but.. broken windows, funky smell, stained grout, old discolored bathroom linens, closets full of sour smelling fabrics, no key as promised, wrong wifi in book, no checkout instructions in book, messy landscape, cheap plastic outdoor chairs....sorry
Nice home, close to Taos, we'll furnished and spacious. Dark skies made it possible to see the Milky Way from the hot tub. Highly recommend!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed staying at Casa de Legado for its beautiful views, hot tub, and convenience points of interest in the area surrounding Taos! Thanks!
This house was much nicer in person than in the pics. I was worried that since you can have animals in this property it might not be pleasant smelling however it was great. The only thing i wished it had was an enclosed fence. I forgot my dogs lead so she was confined to the patio or me walking her on a leash. If you can not relax here than you can not relax anywhere!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved the property and its location. So quiet and such a lovely landscape around it. The boiler was broken so we were cold for a few days before we realized it. The property manager was extremely responsive and sent a plumber out immediately. We have already booked again for next year!
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Excellent location and views, but overall the property gives a feeling of being somewhat neglected. For instance, the beautiful gates shown in the property photos--front gate is completely missing and sunrise gate to a side patio is barely hanging by a single screw. One of the floor to ceiling sunroom windows was well ajar on our arrival and could not be closed with the crank mechanism. That was because the lever to open and close the window was not attached to the window frame. I was able to manually close it from the outside and noted significant rot in all of the sunroom window frames. The beautiful outdoor paths shown in the photos are totally overgrown and in need of serious weeding/clean-up. Shower head in the second bath has been repaired with a combination of plastic wrap and strapping tape; it works, but not a good look. As noted by a prior reviewer, the curtains in the sunroom are in need of some major hemming to eliminate the current unkempt appearance. I have the impression the stove in the sunroom is intended for decoration only; the couch and daybed (daybed not pictured in property description) are far too close to the stove to consider lighting a fire. Nice furnishings and amenities throughout, but some of these current minor issues need to be addressed pronto or this property is going to rapidly decline. That would be a shame because it has a lot to offer; it's a good property with the opportunity to be great (a true Premiere Property) with some much-needed care.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Except for a couple of minor issues, which did not warrant any attention during our stay, this was our favorite location of any of our many, many trips to Taos. The house had everything we needed, was nicely decorated and beautifully located. The mattress on the bed in the master was obviously old, was kind of creaky and not very supportive. The curtains in the sunroom are a bit haphazard and are not up to the decorative standards of the rest of the house, and one of the electrical outlets in the kitchen stopped working, but we were able to work around it. But none of these things affected our very pleasant stay, and we look forward to coming back one day.
This was not a pleasant stay. Not clean, old towels. Pans for cooking should be replaced. We had to purchase a pan to cook. What I paid a night, I should have just slept in a tent.
My wife and I were looking forward to a relaxing three week vacation to Taos to celebrate our anniversary. After a few days we noticed a dead animal like smell coming from the master bathroom, soon to morph into a raw sewage smell. It was horrible enough that we had to seal off the master bedroom from the rest of the house and spent the rest of our time in the smaller second bedroom. The initial problem was addressed by replacing the toilet seal and servicing the septic system, but the smell still continued. I'm not sure what, if any, service was performed after we left. The house itself has a nice layout and is comfortable for the most part but it has several problems. When we first arrived we noticed that the sun room was extremely warm, heating the whole house to an uncomfortable degree. We notified Terra, the caretaker. She was a great help throughout. She got us some curtains for the sun room windows (there were none there) and that helped a little with the heat. We tried to open the windows in the room but several of them did not work. This would be a great room in the winter, but as mentioned in an earlier review, it was much too warm in the summer. The room now has a day bed, that is not shown in the listing, that makes it feel a little cramped. The kitchen was well stocked with essentials (contrary to an earlier review) but there is very little pantry space and the condensation from the ice maker fills the refrigerator with water. We enjoyed the two outdoor areas but the deck by the hot tub did not have the dining table as pictured in the listing. In addition neither of the large outdoor table umbrellas were functional. We feel that this could be a nice property but not until the maintenance problems have been addressed.
This place is beautiful & the location was great. Very close to Taos & still far enough away to get a great secluded vibe. I would recommend to bring everything you need, toiletries & kitchen. If you forgot soap, lotion, hair dryer, etc… not going to be here so requires you to be diligent in your packing compared to other places I have rented which hosts would generally have a few little things in those cases. Overall great stay.
We loved staying here with our two dogs. The access to hiking and to town was great. The kitchen was very well equipped! We would gladly come again.
We had a great time at this house. Ample space all the amenities, great patio with fire place and hot tub. The heated floors worked like a charm. Property manager was super responsive and hospitable. The only negative was the hot tub had a weird smell. Other than that great property!
