Casa das Marias - Countryside House with Private Heated Pool

Taking my 81yr old dad away I would have benefited from better photos as the property had more stairs than expected and outdoor steps were often uneven. His first and only go in the swimming pool was problematic and hit his confidence. The single bathroom and inability to flush paper in the toilet also presented inconveniences. The property was good but just not suited for our needs.

This is a homely house with an effective log fire if it's cooler and a lovely pool and outdoor living area when the weather is warmer. Sunset views each evening as the property looks towards the west. Lovely walking around Ponta do Pargo and the nearby Levada too.

We booked this looking for a quiet place to stay for our last week of vacation. And we loved it. The house if very private, has everything we needed and was very clean. The host was great, made checking in very easy.

We had a wonderful time! There were all of the necessary amenities to help (washing machine soap, toilet paper etc) and enjoy our stay. We enjoyed the pool and the surroundings. Being an hour away from the airport or Funchal was not a problem for us and we managed to tour the island and we had some wonderful activities.

We stayed at this place in mid november 2021 for 10 days. Before arriving we received a detailed description how to reach the house via WhatsApp, because it is not located in Google maps or usual navigation systems. With the upfront support from the owner we found the place immediatly. The location is absolutly quite. There is a house next door and at the end of the driveway, but no noises could be heard. Nevertheless you should keep in mind, that for a dinner or grocery shopping you have to drive or take a longer walk to the nearby town center of Ponta Do Pargo (about 3 km). The host was very welcoming, friendly and helped us out with every question. We were welcomed in person, shown around the house and were able to ask questions directly. The contact during the whole stay was uncomplicated and quick. The house had everything one will might need, also a washing machine and a dishwasher. Even in november the temperature was quite okay, but still there were additional blankets offered as well as heating devices. We did not have to use the indoor fireplace. The furnishing is functional and extensive, we had everything we needed. During our stay we had the pool heated up to 24°C which was absolutely fine for the weather conditions during this time of the year. We also had the opportunity to use the outdoor barbecue. Overall we had an amazing time in the house and would definitely come back.

Thank you to Mariana and her family for making us feel so welcomed when we arrived here. It was so kind of you to meet us and show us the way to the house. Thank you also for the food you left for us, that was much appreciated and welcomed after a long journey. The house is immaculate with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The pool was a fantastic bonus and my daughter spend many hours in there. The location is in a lovely quiet spot , with wonderful views and access to lots of lovely walks. I would highly recommend staying here.
