Highlands, New Jersey
Breathtaking location on Sandy Hook in the Gateway National Recreation area that is part of the National Park System. This half of the duplex over looks Sandy Hook Bay. It’s about 60 miles south of NYC. The sea streak ferry lands about two blocks away in season. Our home lives like a peaceful cottage on the bay. Two of the three upstairs bedrooms have spectacular views, along with the living room, dining room, and side porch. Our guests love the cozy feel and decor. We use the home for our own family events, and wont rent anything we wont use ourselves. It is a special and quiet spot, but just a few miles to great restaurants and attractions. Fishing charters, amusement parks, and Everything New York City has to offer is available as a day trip. Check out our reviews on the web.
This home provides a unique and fun experience. Host Brian is very easy to work with. He provides everything for a comfortable stay; Comfy beds, good kitchen, tv, security and more. We enjoyed brilliant sunsets on the front yard and dappled sunrises in the screen porch. The park is great with tours of lighthouse, history house and beach days from different beaches. The food trucks for lunch were plentiful and dinners around the family table were fun. Enjoy walks to see views of nyc skyline! Stop at Super Foodtown on your way out to this special place. The house has everything else!
Magical!!! The house has amazing history!! And we got to stay in it!! It was so quiet in the evenings. We had many deer and raccoon visits! The nature here is splendid. Brian keeps a clean well equipped house. He truly makes it feel like a home. We brought our own bikes and enjoyed biking on the many bike paths and explored the beaches. We got out an evening or 2 to go to Asbury Park and Point Pleasant. Everything is so close! Thank you Brian! We will be back!!!!
This beautifully restored officer's home located on Fort Hancock on Sandy Hook was a delight for all. The front of the home faces the bay and provides an excellent location to watch the sunset. From the back of the home you can see the light house. We walked, bicycled, and drove to the many beaches and historical sites. The home itself boasts a fully stocked and modern kitchen, two full bathrooms, four bedrooms, living room, and dining room. It was beautifully decorated throughout. Brian is an excellent host. He was very attentive.
We had a great stay on Sandy Hook. We wanted a quiet place near the ocean, where we could reconnect with family, and this property was ideal. Beaches are an easy walk, and there are tons of hikes and bike routes that explore this gorgeous natural area. Brian was a perfect host, helpful and informative, and solving our minor hiccup immediately. We cooked in a lot, but there are also great restaurants nearby. We want to come back again soon, and all the family members who didn’t come with us, want in on our next trip here. I highly recommend this property!
Officers Row is a striking architectural experience and the ability to stay in the only rentable building is a unique thrill. The premises are clean, spacious and well-equipped. It’s a shame to see so many of the old quarters on the row so neglected but it is heartening to see remediation efforts at the maritime academy. The beaches are wide and seemingly endless and the view of Manhatten from North Beach is spectacular. A great getaway.
