Camden, Maine
Located on a famously pretty village street, a short walk to town but in a quiet neighborhood. Restored from top to bottom, this 4 bedroom, 3 bath Victorian farmhouse sits on the street that runs along the east side of Camden Harbor. It's a scenic 5 minute walk along the head of the harbor to town, the park, library and amphitheater, shops, restaurants, windjammer sailing and a public beach. One block the other way down the street is the public landing, where you can launch a boat or just admire the view of the outer harbor and Penobscot Bay.
The house is light and spacious, simply furnished with an eclectic mix of comfortable antiques and contemporary furnishings. There is plenty of space to gather together or have some privacy. Very well suited to multigenerational groups. Securely fenced back yard for your dog . Large airy living room with 2 french doors opening to a back porch ideal for reading or conversation. Gas fireplace for chilly evenings. Outdoor covered porch seating and picnic table in the yard. Open flow from kitchen to dining room, separate family room/library. Downstairs bedroom with bath. Upstairs primary bedroom with en suite bath; soak in the claw foot tub with a view of Mt. Battie. 2 Additional bedrooms, another full bath and a laundry room also upstairs.
Well behaved dogs can enjoy the fenced backyard. Ample off-street parking and a 2 car garage. Relaxed, comfortable in-town Maine coastal summer life at its best-- 'the way life should be.'
Joanne's listing is in the PERFECT Camden location. 1/2 mile walk to downtown Camden around the harbor. The home is exactly as it appears in the listing and there is plenty of room for everyone. And Joanne was an awesome host. When we had a issue the first couple of days she made sure that is was remidied within the day. She was VERY responsive. My only wish was that there would have been a gas grill...but that is just nit picking. Great stay and if we get back to Camden we would stay there again for sure.
The house truly felt like home. It had all the creature comforts of home (some of which we actually even have in our own home!). The fireplace was nice to take the chill off as well. There was enough space for everyone to spread out and do their own thing, or to hang together and watch a movie. The yard was great for our pup, too! The covered back porch was so nice to sit out on during the few rainy days we had. The location can't be beat. It was such an easy walk in to town (maybe 8 minutes), and also very easy to launch kayaks at the town launch just a block away. Will definitely keep this one in mind for future visits to Camden!
This house offered the best of all worlds. The house itself was wonderful, lots of space and very well stocked with everything you would expect and more. There were lots of different cozy spaces throughout the house to hang out or work (2 living spaces, kitchen/dining area, covered porch, yard seating) along with the 4 large bedrooms. The fully fenced in yard was amazing, and our dog had a fantastic time playing fetch and lounging in the sun. It is located on a quiet residential street just a minute walk from the marina that has a coffee shop, a restaurant, and a distillery. It was just 5-10 minute walk from the core of downtown. Joanne was very responsive and easy to correspond with, and she provided plenty of great recommendations for the area. She made if feel like we were family members staying at her house rather than strangers. We're already talking about coming back for another stay!
This property was excellent. The house was clean and comfortable with plenty of room for 6 adults to move about and have time as a group and individually in the house. One of the very best aspects is that this house has an ideal location. right at the Camden harbor (less than a 10 minute walk to downtown). We greatly enjoyed our visit. the owner/manager of the property was really very cordial and helpful. Overall this was one of the best places I have stayed and I would highly recommend it.
This property is as perfect as all of the other reviewers have said! We had 2 couples staying for the week, with another couple camping nearby. We used this home as our base as we explored the wider area. Camden is picturesque, and this home is cozy and clean with fun, eclectic decor and everything we needed. Joanne was wonderful to work with before and during our stay. I would return in a heartbeat!
We enjoyed this property and the location was wonderful. The location was within walking distance to the local downtown shops & restaurants and the Camden harbor.
THIS PROPERTY IS WELL LOCATED IN CAMDEN. NICE RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. VERY CLEAN AND FULLY7 STOCKED. THE OWNER IS VERY GOOD WITH COMMUNICATION AND THOUGHTFUL. WE WILL ABSOLUTELY BE GOING BACK. GREAT YARD IF YOU HAVE A DOG...FULLY FENCED IN.
First and foremost, the location is amazing. A 7 minute walk from the center of Camden. Across the street from the harbor. Around the corner (2 minute walk) from a couple waterfront restaurants. Located on a quiet street. It was exactly what we wanted. In the back of the house, there is a beautiful covered porch and a great fenced in backyard with privacy. Great for a dog and little kids. You look onto a couple beautiful weeping willows that sway in the wind. Interior is very clean and as described. 3 bedrooms upstairs and 1 bedroom downstairs. 2 bedrooms have in window AC units. Downstairs has a sitting room, kitchen, dining area and living room in addition to the downstairs bedroom. Host is amazing. Anything we needed, she was quick to respond. Even coordinated a babysitter for us one night!
It was a well appointed house in a great location…..walking distance to harbor, shops, and restaurants. Great place to stay with your dog. Owner provided great recommendations for food especially the lobster.
The only thing we missed was a TV in the bedroom. We like to unwind at the end of the day by watching a little TV in bed.
Our group had a delightful experience with this Camden Harbor home. The house itself is spacious, with multiple common areas, a decent-sized kitchen and dining area, and bedrooms with ample space to sleep and store luggage. The backyard is large and fully fenced, with no gaps, which was important for my squirrel-obsessed beagle. The neighborhood is quiet, but parking on the street can get pretty full, so we were grateful to have use of the sizable driveway. It was amazing to be so close to the harbor and town; it is truly walkable. Most days consisted of a walk and exploring our surroundings. There is plenty to do in town and short drives took us on other mini adventures. Knowing we had access to a lovely home in the center of all we planned to do was comforting. Throughout the rental experience, I interacted with Joanne through email; she proved to be charming, communicative, and kind. We felt quite welcomed to use her home, and our group was impressed with all the kitchen offered. We stayed a week. During that time, we had two rainy days and - on those days especially - the home itself was an amusement; there is an abundant supply of books and loads of fascinating pictures; it is like a mini library and museum rolled into one! We also watched some movies in the eclectic and cosy front room. This home made our first visit to Maine fun. We would definitely be interested in renting this home again in future.
