CACTUS - Flower Houses in Alonissos island

Little piece of paradise at Alonissos.Wonderful and so helpful hosts with a special thank to Panos and his Mom for this lovely stay.Every thing was simply perfect.

We feel so lucky to have found the flower houses in Steni Vala! The Cactus house is in a lush, colorful garden with a covered patio overlooking a rocky beach (Glyfa) and the sea. There are beautiful sunrises there and the patio is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine while watching the pink sunset glow on the water. The owners were very helpful and they had the cottage spotlessly clean. They even stocked the fridge with essentials and left us some great coffee, tea and olive oil. The water pressure was strong and the bed was really comfy. We walked to dinner at the port which was fun (5 minutes away) and recommend Sossinola and Tassia’s Cooking. There is a lot of good hiking around, too. A peaceful and memorable stay!

We have stayed in many places but this was definitely the best. The hosts are super sweet and helpful and their son Panos was going beyond to help with every need! We totally recommend these beautiful houses, right on a beautiful beach with everything you need close by

This is a great location and perfect place for a couple to rest and relax . The beach taverna is 5 minutes walk and the port with several places to eat and drink is 10 minutes walk. Quiet and peaceful, very comfortable and helpful hosts. We loved it.

Cannot fault it

We enjoyed 3 weeks in Cactus house and it was fantastic stay. The house is small but perfectly formed and it’s position, in a lovely garden and overlooking the sea, could not be bettered. Easy access, across the pebbly beach to 4 or 5 tavernas on one side and a cute beach bar with sunbeds, a 5 minute walk on the other side. It was the quietest place we have stayed in Greece in 40 years… just the sea lapping on the shore, the ducks patrolling the beach and the occasional swimmer crossing the bay. Manuel, Demetrius and Stella are a lovely family and the house was kept spotless during our stay with clean bedding and towels every 4 days. Also a generous welcome pack with enough food for at least a day! We will return one day 🙏.

We were met off the Seacat ferry by the owners and their son who spoke excellent English. We were hiring a car, so we picked this up, then were led to Steni Vala and helped to our house, which was a short walk along the top of a beautiful pebbled beach. The house is compact - a main living room with comfortable bed, wardrobe etc and a kitchenette equipped with all we needed. The shower room was a good size and well equipped. Upstairs were two single beds, we didn't need these, but there was also more hanging space. The house was cleaned and linen and towels changed every 2-3 days, which was lovely. The a/c worked well at night. The house is set in beautifully landscaped garden and when you sit on the verandah you are surrounded by olive trees and colourful gardens with hibiscus, bourganvillea and lots of succulents and cactus - beautiful. The view beyond overlooks the beach; to the left of this there's a good taverna with free sunbeds and umbrellas - beautiful crystal clear waters and clean beach. The locations is excellent with the harbour just a 15 minute walk away, several good restaurants which overlook the harbour busy with yachts and boats. The old town in the hills is about 20 minutes drive, the port about the same distance; there are plenty of other beaches to choose from too, if you have a car to explore. There is a local bus service, but we had our own car. We'd love to return to the house and see our hosts again - they looked after us so very well - thank you for a memorable holiday. Jane and Ian

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this amazing place. The owners were very welcoming and helpful and small touches like helping with our luggage and leaving fresh food supplies in the property upon arrival made a big difference! The location was perfect for us as a young family with the beach on our doorstep and a lovely beach bar a stone's throw away. The gardens are beautifully maintained and we appreciated the privacy and the views. The island itself is magical and we hope to return! Ευχαριστούμε πάρα πολύ!!
