Property was as advertised. Great location on the lake. Kitchen could use some more essentials like cutlery and pots/pans. But we managed ok. Dock is great as is the tiny community. Perfect for the family!
Had a great stay.
We booked this place for a high school fishing tournament. It was perfect! We had dock space in a cove that saved us from having to pull the boat out each day. Clean beds and bathrooms are all I ask for! There was no dish soap or trash bags, but there was hand soap. I would re- book this place if we ever visit Lake Hartwell!
You only have the basement of the house and it’s separated from the upper part of the house. It is not stated in the description on the listing. The owners were there at the house the whole time we had it rented including their dogs that did bark occasionally. There were dirty dishes and coffee grounds left in coffee pot upon arrival to the property. We had 8 ladies staying at the property and had one lady coming over for a few hours on Saturday. I received a voicemail that that we were having a large gathering and to “ immediately reduce your guest count to the maximum occupancy of the home as clearly stated in the listing.” Also, the kitchen is a little slim on the utensils and pots/pans. There was not even a pair of scissors. You have 3 parking spots, however they have a trailer parked in one of them. We still were able to get 5 cars parked. We seen the owners watching us walking back to the house from the dock via ring. Walking to the cars to leave for dinner, they would watch us through the windows of the house. Also, the only separation from the basement to the upper part of the house, is 2 curtains, which is not very private at all.
The property itself was not too bad but for the cost especially the cleaning cost that I paid I expected a little more cleanliness. The wash rags were not white anymore and neither were the kitchen wash rags. The toaster oven in the kitchen was filthy and full of crumbs. The walk way to the dock was very steep and I feel like that should have been put in the description because someone maybe bringing a disabled or handicapped person such as myself and getting her down to the dock and back up was very demanding. The dock is in desperate need of a good cleaning. There is spider webs all over the dock and spiders all over especially at night. During the day we couldn’t sit peacefully because of all of the MANY wasps that were flying around and going beneath the dock. I think there are several nests beneath the dock. It was very peaceful but for the amount paid for cleaning especially I expected clean.
We came here to this property to celebrate my birthday with 3 other couples. First, I was given the run around with who to contact with some questions before arrival. When I finally got into contact with the right host, I specifically asked about linens & dishwasher detergent, both of which the host said they had. We got to the house and could not find any pillowcases for the pullout couch and futon pillow. We were missing a flat sheet and the sheets and comforter for the pull out couch had dried stains on them (looked like old blood). Since I had communicated with the host beforehand, I wish I would have been made aware of the linen situation honestly as I would have brought my own. When I reached out to the host Friday night about the pillowcases - they did not respond at all. We also spent our weekend killing spider after spider after spider… there were always at least 3 spiders in the bathroom at a time and at one point we were sitting on the couch and a bug fell down my brother-in-laws shirt and he had to shake it out. It was very buggy. I know it’s on a lake and things happen but still, definitely should be noted. The property was also not specific on the check in process. You had to go around back and check in on the lower level and we would have not known that if the neighbor wouldn’t have come out to help. We were very appreciative of him! The property was also not specific in stating they ONLY WANT 8 GUESTS on the premises at all times. We had 8 sleeping there but others dropped by on Saturday to go down to the dock to get onto our boat and I had notification after notification saying I violated the occupancy even though only 8 guests ever stayed in the house. This kind of clarification definitely needs to be made especially considering I contacted the host prior to the stay telling them we would be celebrating my birthday. Finally, we were told to start the dishwasher before we left and when it came time to do so…. Low and behold, we found NO dishwasher detergent, something I specifically asked if they had going into the weekend. It is also not specified that this space is a SHARED space. You are in the lower level of someone’s home in which sometimes they are using and the downstairs is separated from the upstairs by stairs and curtains (we could not see if there was a door behind the second curtain but overall felt very weird). Overall the stay still met our needs but it was very frustrating and felt overall kind of dirty.
