Breathtaking, Wooded River Retreat Isle Of View

What a cool, unique place! We had plenty of room and everything we needed to enjoy a quiet getaway from the city, while still being close enough to everything else we could have needed. There is a little bit of deferred maintenance around the property that could absolutely escalate the appeal and comfort of the home, but nothing that was a hindrance in any way to our wonderful stay. My kids thought this was the coolest place ever!

We loved and enjoyed our stay very much We stayed 3 nights it was my Brother-& wife along with my granddaughter, my husband and self. Our granddaughter is in an electric wheelchair , it work very nicely for her. Not a place to sit and watch tv r be on phones but a relaxing , fire place, bomb fire marshmallow, bright sky , bird listening place!! We r in our late 60’s , granddaughter 27. The Global wildlife reserve is about 5 miles went there and it too was great. A great Treehouse experience for our sibling get away!!

It made for an incredible girls trip! Great for relaxation and enjoying nature. It is such a unique little place.The host was great with communication and always quick to respond.

Our host was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the entire stay. We actually had another reservation before this, but they refused check-in because we have a large dog. Thankfully, we found this beautiful place instead — and everything turned out perfect.The property is directly connected to the river, so our dogs were able to swim and enjoy themselves, which made the trip even more special. The interior was also very stylish, clean, and luxurious. We truly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend this place to anyone traveling with dogs.I know how difficult it can be to find accommodations when traveling with large dogs. That’s why I’m especially grateful for hosts like this who welcome guests and their dogs so warmly.I also hope guests will be considerate in return — cleaning up after themselves and leaving the property in good condition at check-out. I think that mutual respect is what helps places like this continue to stay pet-friendly for future travelers.

Our stay at Isle of ViewThis home truly has beautiful views and a unique “treehouse” feel. The owner, Marcus, was very responsive and helpful, especially when we had a minor issue with the elevator.However, the property did not fully match the condition shown in the listing photos. The outdoor areas appeared less maintained than expected, with some disrepair and missing items. Inside, we noticed several cleanliness concerns, including dust in multiple areas and items in the refrigerator and pantry that were expired. There were also a few maintenance issues, such as misaligned stove knobs and some minor safety concerns.Overall, we still had a pleasant visit and enjoyed the space, but we felt the home could benefit from more thorough cleaning and upkeep to match the expectations set by the listing. We would consider returning if these issues were addressed.

This was our second stay at this property and it was beautiful! It made for a wonderful storybook wedding venu.

This was a very magical place to stay--unlike any other place we have stayed before! Very peaceful and quiet! We enjoyed our stay very much and it was hard to leave. The host Marcus' communication is excellent and he offered for us to reach out for any suggestions on places to eat, attractions in the area, etc. Thank you so much, Marcus, for sharing this special place with us and others!

Marcus was very welcoming and the property was very cool

The home was very clean and well maintained. Our dog Max is a senior, like the both of us, the elevator worked out great! The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and spices. We loved the peaceful setting, would love to visit again in the Summer.

Everything was very clean, Marcus gave very clear check-in instructions and was very easy to reach for the one question I had. This property is very unique! I’m not sure what it was prior to becoming a VRBO, but it is very cool to explore and there are surprises around every corner at this place. I just wish I would’ve booked two nights instead of one!

Isle of View is THE COOLEST majestic most wonderful place. We wish we would have had more than two nights to stay here. Marcus is on point. We'd love to go back someday.

Marcus was a great host who went above and beyond. My daughter left her cell phone at the property and we didn't even realize it until Marcus contacted us. We were over 2 hours away on our way home. He shipped the phone to us so we didn't have to add 4 more hours to our 9 hour drive home. The property was very beautiful and unique & had everything we needed. Thank you Marcus!

Great place in the middle of nowhere. There is a Dollar General about 5 minutes away but that is most of the town. My Grandma really appreciated the elevator and said that the property would be great for entertaining. There was a few things that were obviously in the process of being updated but overall it was a great place to stay as long as you want to be away from the city.

Beautiful place so quiet and peaceful, we stayed 4 days and had a small ceremony. We had no issues at all and the host was easy to communicate with. Only suggestion I would make would be to maybe label the light switch so guest knows which ones work what. Hoping to return every year if possible

we rented it for 3 days and had a small wedding ceremony, it is a beautiful place, so peaceful and relaxing, we will come back every year if we can

Property was absolutely stunning , my wife and I had an amazing time for our anniversary and will definitely be back again. Slightly disappointed that durring our stay the fireplace and claw foot tub weren't operational but the facility had such an over abundance of amenities that this was only a minor inconvenience. Property manager was very accommodating to our needs and for the money I'll choose this over a hotel anytime im in town.

Everything was very nice and clean. We enjoyed our stay very much. Nice and quiet, just what we needed.

We had a great time for our weekend getaway! The kids did not want to leave! They loved fishing in the river. Don't forget to bring fishing poles and some chairs to enjoy the river. We left the chairs at home but will bring them the next time.

Nice quiet property. We stayed for the weekend, able to take a short trip to Covington/Abita but still stay away from any city feel. Owner was great to deal with.

Cute place to stay! Only complaints are the amount of spiders and bugs (outside, not inside). Granted, it’s summer in Louisiana. The property could just use a little outside maintenance. There is also a friendly cat that roams the area. The only reason this was an issue is because our dogs are reactive and it made it a little stressful. Friendly host who was very responsive and accommodating.

The Isle of View was the perfect location for my friends and I. Situated a little more than an hour from Baton Rouge and New Orleans, we were able to visit both cities and retreat to the quiet castle at night. The resident Hemingway cat that oversaw the property was very affectionate. Bring cat treats! We will stay again. Thank you Marcus.

The house is amazing. Such unique architecture lends to a wonderfully quirky interior layout. Being on the second floor is really like being in a supercool tree house! Every window has a view of the lush woods. And there are so many places to sit! Porch, deck, gazebo, fire pit, table by the bridge, and two first floor decks. The deck was my favorite hangout. The reason I left a star off cleanliness was not due to the house not being clean. It definitely is. But, there are a number of minor house maintenance tasks that need to be attended to. None of these deterred from our enjoyment and the host is well aware of them. When we were there some outdoor fixes were in progress, which is great to see. Speaking of host, Marcus is amazing. What a nice guy and very attentive. The neighbor's cat is also quite attentive and incredibly friendly, meeting us as we arrived and greeting us each morning when we came downstairs. The kitchen is well-stocked. Spice cabinet has just about everything you could ever need. The house was very clean, lots of towels available, and the main bedroom bed was very comfortable (we didn't use the other two bedrooms). The property is gorgeous. You're right in the middle of a forest. So many birds! There is lots of room to walk and explore. Our dogs were in heaven. This is such an interesting house, I know you will enjoy your stay.

Absolutely gorgeous property! Peaceful, quiet, and a very friendly, sweet kitty who visited daily. The house was very pretty, stocked well, and the elevator was a fun touch. Only concern was that a significant number of items were out of service including the claw foot tub, bedroom door to outside and indoor fire place which were done of the points for us to select this place. Additionally, even locked, the front door can be easily pushed out pulled open meaning no security.

We loved our time here. We were upset about the tub not working and the shower and other bathroom shower had little to no hot water. We would’ve liked to take a hot shower after a long day. My kids did love everything about the inside and outside of this property! It was worth it for us to stay here! Check in was east and communication was great. There are so many things we loved about this house - the wooded and peaceful location, the fun and funky furniture, and the great! great room where we spent almost all of our time. Inside the house, we found things quite clean and tidy. The manager/owner was also excellent - wonderful communication and quickly attended to one issue we had. But on the down side, the exterior of the house could use a good cleaning, including the stairwell and decks. It's sad to see some of the house falling into disrepair. We hope the owners put some money back into the house and return it to its former state as when originally built. We would happily pay more for the house if attention was paid to these details.

Had a blast at this beautiful property with a few friends over the New Year’s holiday. It’s such an interesting house. We all fell in love with the cat that hangs around outside. We made use of the fire pit and enjoyed some stargazing.

Big and roomy! It was perfect for our family gatherings during Christmas!!! Beautiful scenery!

We had a great time. House is way off the busy roads. We enjoyed hiking in woods. Playing in river. Barbecuing at lunch. Had s’mores in evening at fire pit. Kids loved going up the tower stairs. But elevator was better for hauling suitcases up to living room level. House had everything we needed for our stay. A wonderful relaxing long weekend away from stressful world.

This was a perfect charming retreat! It was exactly what I wanted! I could agree with the other reviews that it could use a little additional maintenance, and I was very disappointed that the fireplace and tub were out of order, but the beauty more than made up for it! Not to mention Feets the cat we met that we named based off of well his huge feet! The many sitting places made for a wonderful evening and we even sat around the fire for a while. The o ky thing I would have changed is our duration of stay!

Marcus was awesome and friendly. The place was beautiful and I’ll definitely be going back it’s very secluded and great to walk around in the morning.

We wish we had booked more time to stay in this little piece of heaven! Marcus was super accommodating and the place was exquisite with everything we needed. There is a resident black cat on the property (who we called Pantera, supposedly male) who was very affectionate and seemingly a protector of us, we will miss him dearly. The river is cold and beautiful, refreshing on a sunny day, the trees and the acorns dropping at all times are an environment we felt comfortable and at peace in. We built some fires in the pit some nights and with the house in view with all of its lights made us feel at home. We definitely hope to book again real soon!

My 11 yr old granddaughter saw this listing and begged to stay “at the castle house”. The “castle” is a unique, one of a kind 3 story house, at the end of a trail through the woods. Please be aware that the dirt road and narrow trail to the house might not be suited for small cars. (We have a full sized truck.) We were not allowed access to the 3rd floor of the house, but the 2nd floor had everything we needed. The house has a small elevator that worked well. Although we didn’t have much time to enjoy the view, it would be very nice to have a cup of coffee while sitting on the wrap around porch and listening to the sounds of the river and wildlife. So peaceful! If you want to get away from sounds of civilization, this is the place for you. Our only complaint would be the lack of window coverings. Most of the walls are glass, including the master bathroom and bedrooms. EVEN THOUGH the house is deep in the woods with no neighbors, we were not comfortable sleeping and using the bathroom with no window coverings at all. My first thought was that the glass must be coated so you can’t see in from the outside. But that was not the case. So if you are a very modest or private person, this might be a concern. Other than that, it’s great!
