Stayed Apr 8, 2026We loved our stay here. The home is spacious & well kept, & in a good central location to many of the places we wanted to visit along the coast. Ernesto the caretaker was on site the whole time & helped us when needed. There was one day that our water line broke, but Ernesto had it fixed within a few hours. Maria was amazing; we were told there would be someone coming to clean/pick up, but we had no idea she would come daily, clean the entire house/pool/patio, & insist on doing all our personal laundry & dishes. What a treat! We especially enjoyed the pool area & spending time on the terrace overlooking the amazing ocean views & witnessing the abundance of tropical birds. The only “drawbacks” were the non-air conditioned common living area & kitchen (the bedrooms are cooled very well), but apparently this is the standard in Costa Rican homes. Also, the beach is more than the 300 paces away as advertised, it is more like a 10-minute walk. The nearest beaches were our favorites of all the beaches we visited during our stay, & it’s a very easy walk other than the steep driveway. Overall, this was a fantastic place to stay & I would highly recommend it!

Stayed Mar 29, 2026The view absolutely took our breath away from the moment we arrived, and the bedrooms are comfortable and cool for restful nights. With restaurants and beaches just a short walk away, the location is hard to beat. A favorite morning ritual became sitting outside listening to the birds — especially the one that sounds exactly like a car alarm. You'll know it when you hear it!The entire team made our stay special. The owners provided great information ahead of our trip, and onsite, the caretaker, housekeeper, and property manager were attentive and kind. When we got a flat tire, Ernesto and Jorge helped us change it and directed us to a nearby shop — that kind of hospitality is rare. The sweet on-site dogs were a charming bonus we loved encountering throughout the week.A few things to know:-The main living area and kitchen are not air conditioned and can get quite warm.-The driveway is a steep incline with no sidewalks — walkable, but use caution if you have physical limitations, are with young kids, or it's very hot. We drove most of the week.-The third bedroom has a separate floor and entry, great for privacy but worth noting for families with young children.Overall, a memorable stay with spectacular views and genuine hospitality. We'd absolutely return!

Stayed Mar 20, 2026My family (two teens and parents) had the most wonderful stay at Villa Buena Vista in late March. The house was even more lovely than described and pictured. It is spacious, well-appointed, and the views are stunning. We enjoyed time in the pool and walks to Playa Prieta, which was almost empty each time we visited. The landscaping and bird life around the house are beautiful, even during dry season. We heard howler monkeys every day, and there's a family of them in the trees across the street. The town within walking distance has several restaurant options, and we couldn't get enough of the gelateria! There are several beaches within a 20-min drive, but a highlight was spending the day at Lola's on Playa Avellana (as recommended by the hosts - 1 hour away). We recommend making a reservation beforehand to ensure you get umbrellas and loungers. Ernesto and Ana were wonderful house and groundskeepers - our laundry was done daily, bed linens changed a couple of times, and house swept and tidied up daily. We enjoyed the visits from the dogs, too.Overall, one of our best VRBO stays anywhere. Would highly recommend!

Stayed Mar 5, 2026This home was a wonderful place for our week stay in Potrero. The house is through a locked gate and up a steep driveway. The house was clean and had almost everything we needed (except seasonings). The housekeeper came in every day to clean, and she made beds and did laundry. The bedding was changed out halfway through our stay. The bedrooms were comfortable with air conditioning. The rest of the house did get a little stuffy with the 95 degree temperatures since there is no air conditioning in the other rooms. Caretaker Ernesto cleaned the grounds and pool everyday. The pool was warm and so nice to be able to enjoy in the hot weather. Property manager Jorge was very helpful providing directions and instructions for the property and was always quick to reply to any questions we had. Owner Mindy was also very quick to respond to questions as well as providing information on places to go and things to do. Be aware that if the outside house doors are shut you will need to use the key to open them from the outside. If you are looking for a nice place for a massage in the area, I would highly recommend Veronica's Massage in Playa Potrero. We ate at Las Brisas a couple of times. It was a comfortable place on the beach. The Beach House Bar and Restaurant was also a favorite. I would also recommend visiting Diamante animal sanctuary. It was very clean and well kept with a lot of animals that seemed to be taken care of very well.We would definitely stay at this house again!

Stayed Jun 27, 2025We absolutely loved our stay in Potrero. Our family of four (2 kids) enjoyed a 10-day vacation in our favorite town. We loved the different beaches (all within walking distance) - all with their own special qualities. I enjoyed picking up fresh mangos at the local farmer's stand. The food choices are all excellent - not a bad meal the entire trip! And the house is gorgeous. The view is amazing in all weather - enjoying sunrises, sunsets, sailboats, and thunderstorms. It's a very special place. The owners and property manager were fantastic - very responsive and kind. The kids (and my wife) were so excited to go boogie boarding so the owners and property manager arranged for two boogie boards to be there! Anna Maria is an absolute doll, keeping the place clean and comfortable. She's so sweet. And the dogs are great! We're do people so it was such a treat to have them hanging around (unobtrusively). We will definitely be back!! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing such a special place.

Stayed Apr 19, 2025We had special requests that the host graciously assisted with. It was exactly the together time we needed. The driveway was steep but we could have gotten a car. A waitress at Las Brasis referred us to a driver and he took us wherever for 10 to 20 dollars. Just loved the local spots. Not asPrivate as weHad hoped but I think it was because of the dry season thinned out the vegetation. The property could use some updating. LOVED. Location and locals. Would love to go back. Could use some air in the living spaces.

Stayed Apr 12, 2025Absolutely dreamy. Costa Rican perfection. Second time here. Ernesto and Ana (caretaker and house cleaner) are wonderful, helpful and lovely. Mindy (host) is super responsive and goes above and beyond. This place is perfection. Right mix of everything you need to feel pampered, while feeling laid back and casual. You feel like you’re in luxury, without feeling nervous the kids are going to break something. The walk to the beaches is dreamy. And the beaches themselves are perfection. It’s starting to feel like our home away from home.

Stayed Apr 1, 2025We had a great week at this house overlooking the ocean. A couple of minor issues that were addressed very quickly by the property manager (eg new hot water heater installed). The location is fantastic and the view is great. The onsite caretakers were wonderful, cleaning the pool, making beds, doing laundry and dishes. We really enjoyed our stay.

Stayed Feb 7, 2025We are 2 couples in our 60’s. The set up of the house was perfect for us. We each had a bedroom on the end of the house. We did have a 3rd couple join us for 3 nights and they stayed in the lower bedroom. If we’d been 3 couples staying the entire time it might have come down to drawing the short straw to see who took the lower level bedroom. The property is set up on a hill - therefore the view is spectacular! We did not rent a car so we used Uber or we walked everywhere. The hill would be a climb if you are not in good physical shape. We walked all 3 of our beaches daily and really enjoyed that. We also spent lots of time under the gazebo or in the pool. The purpose of our trip was to rest, relax, and enjoy the heat, good food, and the beauty of Costa Rica!Walking into town along Playa Potrero is a much safer option than the road but check the tide charts. Potrero had many good restaurants and we tried numerous ones but not all of them. The staff at the house were friendly and very helpful. We had to resort to Google translate sometimes as none of us speak very much Spanish. We enjoyed the company of the dogs, especially Bella, as she was most affectionate and happy to hang out with us. Lovely home with a well set up kitchen and as I mentioned, spectacular views. Great to watch the sunset or the boats on the ocean. Our hosts were responsive and helpful and I highly recommend this property.

Stayed Dec 31, 2024We very much enjoyed our time in Potrero and this house was perfect and spacious for family of 5 adults. It was nice to have AC in the bedrooms to get ready and to sleep. The master BR and bath are very large and the views are stunning. The kitchen and family room area do not have AC but there are plenty of ceiling fans. The kitchen is well appointed. We spent time on the large veranda and you could not beat the sunset views. The pool area had a covered area with table and chairs. The landscaping is beautiful and we loved seeing the parrots. The best was having daily cleaning and laundry. Short stroll to beach. The hardest part of walk is the steep driveway. There are many great local restaurants in town. Would definitely recommend this house for your stay in Potrero

Stayed Jul 24, 2024Our family of four truly enjoyed our stay here. Although the main area was not air conditioned, there were plenty of ceiling fans even on the wrap around porch. We never felt uncomfortable. We heard the howler monkeys everyday and even saw them on the last night. There are so many beaches in the area. I wish we could have stayed longer to see even more. The La Leona waterfall trip is a must. Our driver and guide provided an adventure of a lifetime.
