The Sea Ranch is a one-of-a-kind coastal community on the Sonoma Coast, where miles of trails wind through meadows, forests, and along ocean bluffs. Nearby highlights include community heated pool (North) (7-minute walk), Shell Beach tidepools (6-minute drive), The Sea Ranch Lodge restaurant, lounge and café (6-minute drive). The community features miles of bluff-top and forest trails, tidepools, two heated community pools, a fitness center, tennis courts, and The Sea Ranch Lodge with its restaurant, lounge and café. For provisions, Gualala (10 minutes south) has grocery stores, restaurants, and a gas station. Jenner and Bodega Bay are scenic drives south.



Getting Around:

Sea Ranch is located on the Sonoma Coast, approximately 2.5 hours north of San Francisco via Highway 101 to Highway 1. The closest airport is Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa, about 1.5 hours east. A car is essential for exploring the area. The scenic drive along Highway 1 is part of the experience.



Other Things to Note:

Sea Ranch has three recreation centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis courts. Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times.



Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast.



December through April is whale season. You may spot gray whales breaching right from the bluff trail nearby. Wildflower season (April-June) transforms the coastal bluffs into a tapestry of color -- worth an extra walk on the trails. Summer offers long days and warm afternoons, though the iconic Sonoma Coast fog often rolls in at sunrise and clears by noon.

    His house has a great view and I have rented it for many, many years. Now the lot nextdoor is being newly developed which reduces the view and privacy dramatically . Our stay was interrupted continually by the sound of loud construction equipment. It was a very unexpected and disruptive surprise.

    We are return guests to the Levy retreat. We visited in July 2020. Unfortunately, this time was sub-par. The construction was not noted in the listing during the time of booking. I noticed the negative reviews as we approached but it was too late to cancel. The construction is very very close to the house and it’s a big eye-sore. The deck that we loved sitting on before had a large piece of equipment parked right in front of it. For this reason, we will not be returning. The views in the upstairs living area are beautiful. I could sit for days and stare out of them. The furnishings are very very dated and the home needs some general maintenance done. The hot tub was gross, the carpets desperately need stretching, fireplaces out of order, etc. Our trip was unfortunately timed with a big storm and we were out of power for final 24 hours. I was unable to get in contact with anyone and the house had no candles, flashlights, etc. Additionally, the fireplaces were out of order so we had no way to keep the family warm. We were traveling with 2 children 4 and under. We would have left early but the conditions were so poor. This trip was a Christmas gift for family and unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. We will be finding a new home to rent next time.

    The house is beautiful and clean, 10 out of 10. The construction on the lot 5 feet away next door isn’t. I’d avoid staying during the week until the construction is complete.

    Gorgeous property with easy access to coastal trails that are dog friendly. Hopefully the construction gets completed quickly so the room with two single beds can also have nice views.
