Beautifully Renovated Rustic Retreat | Heart of Downtown Saranac Lake

Welcome to your beautifully renovated Adirondack escape inside the historic Conklin Cottage, perfectly situated in the heart of downtown Saranac Lake — just 15 minutes from Lake Placid and directly across the street from Hotel Saranac.

This three-bedroom, two-bath mountain-view retreat has been thoughtfully curated to highlight all four Adirondack seasons — a cozy winter base for skiing, snowmobiling, and ice climbing, and a bright, airy summer home for hiking, kayaking, and lakeside relaxation. Whether you’re here for adventure, a family getaway, or a nearby wedding celebration, this space blends rustic Adirondack character with modern comfort.

As lifelong locals and a family-run business with over 50 years of community roots, we love sharing our insider knowledge to help make your stay unforgettable.

Perfect for Weddings & Group Stays

Located right across from Hotel Saranac, this property is an ideal choice for wedding parties or event guests. Groups can reserve multiple units or the entire Conklin Cottage for a more affordable and intimate lodging option than traditional hotel blocks — all within walking distance of the venue, restaurants, and nightlife.

Unbeatable Location

You’ll be steps away from everything the village has to offer:

Lake Flower, coffee shops, bakeries, and restaurants

Grocery store, farmers market, and boutique retail shops

Riverside Park with live music and community events

The Adirondack Carousel and Saranac Laboratory Museum

It’s no wonder Travel + Leisure named Saranac Lake the “Best Place to Buy a Lake House in 2023.”

Adirondack Adventures

There’s something to enjoy in every season:

Ski & Snowboard: Mt. Pisgah (2.5 mi), Whiteface Mountain (18 mi), Dewey Mountain (1.7 mi)

Winter Fun: Tubing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, ice skating, and ice climbing

Summer & Fall: Kayaking, canoeing, boating, hiking, and exploring over 50 ADK trails

Local Favorites: The Wild Center (20 mi), Lake Placid Olympic Center (9.3 mi), and Donnelly’s Ice Cream (4.8 mi)

After a long day of adventure, relax with mountain views and unwind in your cozy Adirondack retreat right in the center of town.

The host was very responsive and the kitchen is well stocked with supplies. Our only issue was we all found the mattress on the queen size beds to be too hard. I mentioned this to the host and he said he was going to look into mattress toppers to help. we'll certainly come back, we LOVE this location. We walked all over town and enjoyed a really delicious dinner, waterfront, at Lakeside Drift.

Beautiful and clean. Walking distance to good food and cute little shops. 10 minutes to Lake Placid, Tupper Lake is not far either. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The space is well decorated . It is in the heart of everything but that means it comes at a price with noise. It’s on a corner and you can hear all the traffic. We stayed in February which means the plows going by at all hours shook the house and woke us all up. Pillows are super hard, queen bed was also hard. My brother stayed in the king bed and said it was fine. Maybe I just got unlucky. parking is also an issue and wish it was stated in the listing. You only get one parking spot. (The owner helped us out by giving us extra spots if his other units were empty.) And street parking is only two hours or there are bans during the winter months for snow removal. Otherwise it suited our needs. They have everything (most amenities) you can want. The person who takes care of it did great with snow removal and even made us homemade chocolate chip cookies that were amazing!

My family and I had a magnificent stay. The location was fabulous - walking distance to everything. Access was easy. The inside was beautiful and very clean. The kitchen had everything you could need for making home cooked meals. The beds were comfortable. The layout was good, we each felt like we had our own space, but the common areas were cozy and great for our family. The host made everything easy and checked in during our stay to make sure everything was good. I highly recommend staying here. It was fabulous!
