Beautiful Waterway-View Home with Private Pool, Ping-Pong, Washer/Dryer & WiFi

We loved this ocean front cottage. Beautiful views of the ocean. Cozy, serene and quiet. Perfect place to reflect and refresh.

Great place and location to stay with your family! It’s obviously an older home but very well kept and clean upon arrival. We stayed two houses down last summer and that home was very recently remodeled with modern appliances, layouts etc. We enjoyed our stay at the Shem Cottage much more it just feels more like home to us. Will definitely stay again if available

This cottage is directly on the beach, which was a must for my family with 3 young kids. No hauling a big wagon full of stuff… we simply walked down the steps to the beach each day, which was magical. The house is tiny. The pictures definitely make it look bigger. I cannot imagine fitting 8 people (the occupancy limit). My children are young, and we were all cramped inside this tiny cottage. The deck is on the back of the house, which was odd and didn’t really seem to serve a purpose. My biggest complaint was the front door- it needs to be fixed. It’s either too big/long or the floor is warped and too high, but you can’t properly open the door without using a ton of force. This has been going on for some time, as we noticed the finish completely stripped from the wood floor when we first walked in. Not sure if the vacuum was left on accident, but when I tried to use it to clean up the sand we inevitably tracked in, there was no power cord. There was also no laundry basket. I reached out to customer service who said they would take care of it, but they never brought us one. It was difficult carrying laundry from the outdoor building, up the stairs, and inside. The location allowed us to overlook these shortcomings, and although we wouldn’t stay here again (we need something slightly bigger), we are grateful for a nice trip! Thank you!

The charming, well furnished cottage with homey photos of several generations of family at the beach, made us feel welcome. There is a beautiful view of the beach from inside and there is a small deck from which you can see both the ocean for sunrises and the marsh side for sunsets. A very comfortable spot on a quiet beach.

I love the inside of the home. The layout and closeness to the beach were superb. Spending so much time outdoors on the sand saves my opinion of this home. My concerns are the intense sway and the obvious age of the lower stilts. The home is older, so I understand that but it often felt as if we were on a boat with how often the home would rock side to side when someone went up the stairs. The wooden rails to the beach gave us all splinters at least once. My ten year old got a huge one in the bottom of her foot. The home had several roaches as well, running through the dishes in the cabinets and scurrying beneath the beds. That part was disgusting, so I had to buy paper products for us to eat and drink out of. There were plenty of towels, plenty of windows, and lots of character. Some of the character of the home I could have done without though! Overall, a very lovely trip but only because of how close the home was to the beach.

This house was incredibly comfortable for our family of four including two kids (9 and 7) and my parents. The house had even more outdoor space than we expected and the pool lives up to my kids’ high expectations and then some! The hardest decision we made all week was which porch we wanted to take a nap on…

We love the location of the house, easy access to the beach. Enjoyed family time until we had unexpected visitors…. There were cockroaches there. My daughter left a day early with her baby. …. The beds were little to hard for my liking. And the last night we were there the power went out around 10 pm and didn’t come back on until after 2 am…. It was the whole east end….

This is our fourth trip to this particular rental. It is a family favorite. It is a little further back but we love the view of the intercoastal waterway. Our family loves the pool as well as the comfortable layout of the home. The basement is a great transition area and the full bath and extra refrigerator are great for a family with kids. (Keep the wet swimsuits outside and downstairs). Definitely a great space for a vacation!
