Most of this experience was excellent. Katharina is very conscientious, the place is extremely clean and organized, the cottage was a nice 15 minute walk to the other cottage we rented on the beach (big family couldn’t be contained in 1 cottage) and the garden and surrounds are lovely. Just the beds were uncomfortable.
Our group included 5 adults. Plenty of space to gather on the deck and in the living and dining room but enough space to have some privacy. We cooked several meals using the well furnished kitchen and grill. This is a central location south of Leland. We were in the area to visit family members in Suttons Bay and on Lake Leelanau. The host made it easy to check in and was available when we sent a message. Lovely home on a beautiful property. The property does not have a/c but we knew that when booking it. We would stay there again.
If you like seclusion coupled with a convenient location, Waldhaus is a great choice. Convenient to all that the Leelanau Peninsula has to offer. The house itself is comfortable and well-equipped. A huge deck facilitates a lot of outdoor living. House rules are clear and reasonable. A very good option.
Ideal location for wineries, dunes, hikes, beach and biking-restaurants and groceries nearby—location, location, location! Note-no ac in house but we never really needed with temps in 60’s at night—don t worry about that : ) Enjoy!
It was beautiful it was cozy it was romantic it was adventurous it was just plain fun!!! And best of all the weather was perfect every single day. ❤️❤️❤️
This property did not disappoint! Extremely clean and the pictures are accurate. Katharina was very pleasant to work with and we highly recommend! The location was perfect for our needs as it was conveniently located for us to get all around the Leelanau Penninsula. My husband was a little hesitant about the house not having a tv, but we did not miss it at all. Any downtime we had was spent enjoying the beautiful deck and taking in the scenery around us.
Our stay at Wald-Haus was fantastic. The house was in a wonderful location. Only a short drive to everything. It was well stocked and meticulous. Katharina was an excellent host and always available for questions.
We had a wonderful stay at the Wald-Haus! Katharina & Jerry have created a relaxing atmosphere at the cabin, which is stocked with everything needed for a relaxing stay. The house is only a five minute drive from Leland, and is centrally located to many small towns and activities along the Leelanau Peninsula (Sutton's Bay, Glen Arbor, Sleeping Bear Dunes). The cabin is tucked away in the woods and is very secluded. If you want a water view this is not the place to go, but if you want a quiet place to wake up to in the morning and return home in the evenings after a day exploring the peninsula this is it! I personally loved the well curated music collection available for guests enjoyment. There is a well cared for mix of 70's - 90's alternative, along with 60's classics such as the full Beatles collection and lots of others. It was fun exploring the collection and listening to some of my favorites during our stay. Besides standard plateware and cooking equipment, the kitchen was stocked with coffee, olive oil, salt/pepper, paper towels, and other basics which made life easy for us. All we had to do was buy grocery's and we were set for the week. There is also a washer/dryer in the basement with laundry soap provided, which is a great bonus. I would recommend staying a the Wald-Haus to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway up north.
