“Welcome back to an era of simplicity. This classic Door County cottage has been reinterpreted for a new beginning. While this “remodeled” home utilizes the same footprint and foundation as its predecessor, it is completely new construction. Proving that what is old really can be new again!
Cedar shingles, copper accents and Door County cobble combine with a columned front porch and classic porch swing for a truly timeless aesthetic. The three bedroom sleeps 8 with an adorable aviation themed bunkroom. Interior features ceilings of painted bead board, oak floors and classic white cabinetry with butcher block countertops. Whether by the outdoor fire pit, relaxing on the bluff’s back deck or indoor enjoying a romantic fire; all invite guests to settle in and enjoy the breathtaking views of Garrett Bay. On the second floor, a spacious master suite surprises. The master bathroom is outfitted with a two person walk-in shower, claw foot bathtub and unique freestanding vanity with amazing views to Gills Rock. Come recharge with this quaint cottage ….

Initial checkin was very difficult because the vrbo system went down, so we were unable to access the property details or even a number for the property manager. To sort it out, we had to make several calls and sit on long holds. When we finally arrived at the property it was very dark and no lights were left on. The property itself is really lovely - just like the pictures - and the views are incomparable. I love the cute kitchen and the deck. There is no beach to speak of but it’s easy to be outside. Our chief issue with the property is that the well from which the property draws its water is highly sulphuric. Showering was a such an unpleasant experience that we simply didn’t - needless to say this was uncomfortable and disappointing. The smell of the water is overwhelmingly bad and actually permeates the entire house if you run it even for a short duration. I recommend the owners shock the well or fit it with a sulphur removing system before renting to anyone else. The property overall is clean but a few dead bugs, a few live ones, and some little things I’d address if it were mine (wipe out the drawers, give the stove knobs a good clean). I’d also replace the master mattress as it is a tad lumpy and run a walk up the grass from the road. The property is pretty far up and remote. Not necessarily a bad thing depending on what someone is looking for. Overall for us beautiful house but would not rent again due to the well water.
My husband and I just stayed at this beautiful home for our mini-moon and absolutely loved it! It has amazing views of the lake from pretty much every room in the house. It was clean, well stocked and cozy as can be! It is a little farther away from most of the shopping and restaurants compared to some other places (Sister Bay is only 10-15 minutes) however it is private and a quick and easy drive to most of the downtowns! We struggled a bit at first to find the T.V. but was able to figure it out through the information binder. If you're looking for a beautiful place to relax for your vacation, look no further!
Been coming to Door Cty for 34 years.. this rates as one of the best homes we’ve rented.
Lovely cottage. Awesome view. Well stocked. When we arrived the key was not in the lock box but a representative came right away to let us in. The house could use a driveway or at least a walkway rather than just a grass front yard. Overall though really cute and comfortable cottage.
We stayed along with another couple in this really unique house. It's old but the reno is so much fun. It's so cute we just walked around looking at everything. It's a contemporary mix with nice features of the old. We had plenty of room for everything. The kitchen is top of the line appliances and lots of room for several cooks. We did have trouble with the TV, but that's the only thing. Also, it would be nice to have a place to hang things in the top bedroom. The outdoor space is wonderful and the views couldn't be better. A place to get away from it all.
This place is magical and spectacular. We are regulars in Door County and loved this quiet spot off the beaten path. Please note that it is about a 20 minute drive into Sister Bay (really the closest town with anything to offer), so if you are looking are for in-town experiences this property is not that. What it is is a quiet, peaceful retreat overlooking Lake Michigan with everything you need to hunker down with family and friends, play a board game or read a good book. Note there is also no lake access here if you are looking for that, but you are very close to the Garrett Bay boat launch if you bring up a kayak or other water gear. We will absolutely stay here again. Just wonderful. Perfect for 4 adults plus kids.
We absolutely loved this home! Great location - secluded but close to Sister Bay and Washington Island Ferry! Bed is comfortable, towels are nice, dish ware is lovely - they thought of everything! We enjoyed the deck for relaxing and made fires in the fire pit almost every night. Home was clean and just wonderfully decorated! We loved waking up to the water views and coming home to such a beautiful location each night. Thank you for sharing your home with us! It was greatly appreciated!
