Welcome to our lovely and very private Lake Superior paradise. Nestled deep in the north woods well back from the highway, enjoy a quiet and extremely private beach of classic Lake Superior sugar sand. This is one of the best beach locations available in the Marquette area, quiet and private, yet only minutes from downtown Marquette by car. The beach is wild and unspoiled. Gather driftwood for a beach bonfire; swim, snorkel, or kayak; or simply enjoy the sun and sand. At night, the view duenorth across Lake Superior yields a blaze of stars, plus the view across the bay to the lights of Marquette.

The lake house offers a spacious 1,800 square feet all on one level. There is ample parking for multiple cars, trucks, trailers, and/or RV’s. It is set behind a sand dune just far enough from the Lake to provide shelter from large storms, yet close enough to afford breathtaking unobstructed lake views from the generous north-facing windows. There are three comfortable bedrooms, each with a queen bed and plenty of comforters for the chilliest of nights. Each bedroom has blackout blinds on the windows for late sleepers. The main bedroom has an ensuite half bath with a walk-in rain shower, water closet, sink, and attached walk-in closet. The two other bedrooms share a full bath with a soaking tub, water closet, and sink/vanity. Each bedroom has a full closet with plenty of shelves and hanging space.

The great room is filled with light from both the north and the south. It has a well-equipped kitchen with full range and oven, microwave, plenty of pots, pans (including plenty of cast iron), and bakeware, double sink, dishwasher, air fryer/toaster oven, and multiple ways of making coffee: Keurig, French press, pour-over, and stove-top Bialetti “moka” espresso maker. Ample plates, bowls, flatware, glasses, cups, and stemware. Full size side-by-side refrigerator/freezer. There is also an outdoor 5-burner propane grill.

Dining is at the spectacular 8 foot oak table that can easily seat 10, plus an island bar that can seat 3. The living portion of the great room is furnished with a couch that opens into a queen sleeper, four comfortable chairs, a powerful Bose sound bar connected to the Wi-Fi (stream any music from your phone), and a large television equipped with a Google Chromecast streaming device that allows you to stream anything from your phone via the Google Home app. The television is also a smart tv connected to the Wi-Fi. The entire house has strong Wi-Fi connection. Guests have access to a stacked washer and dryer on the main level. The home is centrally heated with hot water radiant heat, keeping it warm and cozy no matter how cold it is outside.

The home is exactly 9 miles by car from West Washington Street, the heart of Marquette, and 10 miles from Northern Michigan University. Between Washington Street and NMU, you will find the bulk of Marquette’s restaurants, craft breweries, coffee shops, and other shopping. Marquette hosts multiple fairs and festivals in this area over the warm weather months, and there are some in winter, the most notable being the “UP 200” dog sled race that starts right on Washington Street before heading east to the Lake and then off into the wilderness.

The lake home is a bicyclist’s paradise. It is directly across the highway from the Iron Ore Heritage Trail. This is a converted rail route that, in summer, is restricted to bicycle and non-motorized use. The trail provides a gentle 9-mile bicycle ride to West Washington and the heart of downtown Marquette, fully separated from auto traffic. At that point, riders can continue along the lakeshore to Presque Isle, or turn west and ride all the way to Ishpeming. In addition, there are multiple points to access the legendary Noquemanon Trail Network, including the Dead River Basin area trails, the legendary South Trails system, and the challenging climb up Mt. Marquette. The route from the lake house to and around Presque Isle and back follows the shore of Lake Superior in both directions. It is possibly the most beautiful 25-mile bicycle ride on earth.

The beach offers the quintessential Lake Superior beach experience. Lovely white sand. Private and secluded, you might spend an entire day on the beach without seeing another person. There is usually ample driftwood to collect for a beach bonfire. At night, look to the west for the glow of the city lights of Marquette (and the fireworks on July 4th), or look north for a lovely view of the northern night sky.

A word about the Northern Lights. Northern Lights is a phenomenon that occurs in the high upper atmosphere near the North Pole. It is caused by solar activity. The Northern Lights can occur any time of the year. They are not seasonal. The beach provides an unobstructed north view. If there is solar activity and a cloudless night sky, you will see this breathtaking display easily and clearly.

We loved our stay in this home! The location was perfect - it felt secluded but was only 15-20 minutes from the downtown area. The beach was beautiful. Key for us was the sand - our kids love playing in the sand, and this sand was perfect for playing and building sand castles! The home was beautifully decorated and filled with thoughtful details, but still very functional and the owner provided everything we needed. Communication with the owner was easy.

We LOVED our stay in this house. It was equipped with absolutely everything you could want or need. The owners literally thought of everything - including S’mores sticks and outdoor sand toys. Everyone, from my older parents to my kids, adored our time at the beach and the house. I hope to come back to this amazing home soon! Thank you for making our stay beautiful

This is one of the most comfortable houses we have ever stayed at. The beach was awesome. Close enough to town, but far enough away to feel like you were on your own. Everything was just as stated in the listing.

We loved our time at the house. It was very well equipped— plentiful kitchen tools and dishware, many beach towels and chairs, and extra blankets. Super clean upon arrival. It was easy to set up shop here for a few days. The private beach was gorgeous! Thanks so much!

Wow. My parents grew up in the UP and I consider it my second home. Life on the Father of Waters is incredible. Mqt is a dream city full of small town charm. This truly was an outstanding choice and this property is the best. Only steps from the lake, the beach is as wide and as long as you can see. The beach is perfect to sit and relax or watch the grandkids frolic in the water. We will be back. My daughter in law who has never been to the UP was so enchanted that she wants a home in the UP. You will not go wrong with this location or the home. The Bald Eagle flying over head is just a bonus.

This home was the perfect home base for our weekend visit to Marquette. The Lake Superior shoreline was a wonderful place to read and have an evening beach fire and the proximity to town made a trip to dinner or the Farmers Market easy and quick. The home is SUPER well stocked with everything to enjoy our time - and everything is high quality. Hope we can return soon!

Clean, well maintained and spacious. Drive to downtown Marquette was easy and not too far. My family had such a great stay. Thank you Karen for being an amazing host!

The house was extremely clean and had plenty of amenities. There was extras of everything so no need to make extra trips to store to stock up. Beach was beautiful and clean. They provided beach chairs and other outside items. House was well taken care of. Rooms had individual air conditioners, which was nice since it was warmer than usual when we were there. Communication with owner was prompt. Would stay again and highly recommend.

What a lovely house! It was perfect for we three adult siblings with our spouses to reconnect and enjoy the beautiful UP summer. We appreciated the nicely stocked kitchen and very tasteful art throughout. Loved the beach access and front yard's abundant wild blueberries! This place is a winner!

The rental itself is clean, stocked with nice amenities, and right on a beautiful Lake Superior waterfront. This was a special time for our family and great memories were made. The host communicated well prior to arrival. The only reason for four instead of five stars is because of a misunderstanding after we left. Prior to check out we let the host know our second night there we found water on the bottom of an AC unit which also had gotten a rug and bedskirt wet. The AC had been running several hours before bed as it was a very warm day. We were informed by the host that it is a new AC system. We air dried the rug and let the host know it left a water stain on the bedskirt. A few days later she informed us the cleaning crew felt the damage was from something else, which we know could not have been a possibility, at least not from our group. We were also informed the AC was tested and no problem found, but it would not have been tested for the length of time we had it on that day. Our family takes very seriously respecting and being honest about all properties we rent. We reported what happened and exactly what we saw. We did whatever we could after to prevent any further damage from happening, including using that AC unit as little as possible. We did all we could to help the host protect the property then and from what we believed could cause future water damage.

We had a wonderful stay here while visiting from Texas for my brother’s wedding! The house is exactly as described. It had everything we needed. The individual AC units in each room keep the house nice and cold on the warmer days. The beach was very private and I was amazed it was just sand and no rocks! My kids loved swimming in the cold water! The dune was a bit difficult for my mobility impaired father to climb but he made it! The location of the house was perfect, just outside of Marquette but closer to the Pictured Rocks. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!
