BEACHFRONT in Casa Del Mar, 5BR/4.5BA, Sleeps 20, Elevator

First some positives:good variety of pots and pansnice front porch w/ open deck good walkway to beach (but last step is steep)NegativesDirty, ants and cockroaches from the first day, boogers on the wall in one of the BR'sInadequate towels 1 small to medium towel and 1 hand towel per sink, towels are cheap and of poor qualityThis place says that it accommodates 20. We were a party of 10 and it was a bit crowded. I can't imagine what it would be like with 20. A little like an anthill, I guess.The elevator is balky and difficult to use.The sliding glass doors are in bad shape. There are 3 in the living room. Two of them are blocked by furniture and appear not to slide at all. The 3rd moves but the lock dors not work.In the MBR the sliding glass door is difficult to open and close.Also in the MBR the door to the bath does not close.The water pressure in the showers is too high to the point of being uncomfortable.The washing machine is the loudest I have ever heard.OverallExperience tolerable but at this price point (2000/day), this place is outrageously overpriced.PS.This did not effect the quality of our stay but I feel I should point it out.There is a large crack in the kitchen countertop. This is almost directly below the MBath door which does not close. MBR floor creaks.MBR sliding door is very hard to move. All of this suggests possible structural instability. Reccommend evaluation by structural engineer or architect.

This was a great family place, and the location is spectacular. I am not sure that the description regarding a pool on the property is clear --there are 2 other pools available off the property.

Exceptional well stocked home. Excellent pans and cutlery. Well stocked cabinets (salt & pepper, coffee filters, etc) Great porches with on all three floors. This house provided everything we needed to have an enjoyable and relaxing vacation.Nice location near Sikes Cut.

The customer service was excellent and they fixed some problems and offered replacements for some others. They were very responsive and easy to work with! We thoroughly enjoyed the beachfront decks and were entertained almost daily with pods of dolphin performing for us and the thrill of the Navy jets flying by! Nature is very present on SGI and the beaches of clean, full of shells and shore birds fishing! This was the perfect house for enjoying nature and the beach during the day and playing cards together in the evenings. Beds are super comfy and we enjoyed using the elevator! I highly recommend this lovely house!

A wonderful place to stay and enjoy family time. The view of the beach is relaxing and beautiful. The dolphins that come by are bonus!

First the good: perfect location! Great beach. Good communication with host. The bad: house smells musty. Entire house needs cleaning and updating. Water bugs in kitchen and bathroom. Too much required at checkout. Cost 175 to use elevator.

The location of Seabiscuit is great, a short walk to the cut. The layout and size of the house is perfect but the house itself is getting a little “tired”. Needs to be updated and the kitchen needs new pots and pans. If you rent it be sure to bring your own! The property management people are great and communicate when you need them.

Seabiscuit is in a great location on the island and has a short boardwalk with access to the beach. The kitchen supplies do not accommodate feeding a large family. The cookware and supplies are outdated. There are plenty of dishes to eat on, but cooking to feed 15 was difficult with what was available at the house. The floors were not very clean, our feet were black if we went without shoes inside the house. The sliding glass door to go out on the main level was so difficult to open. You had to barely open it and then push it the rest of way open with your hip, it wouldn't slide. Overall we have stayed in cleaner, more accommodating houses on the island for our large group. Probably would not rent this house again.

With 3 couples, there was more than enough space for each of us to have our own places to relax - together or apart. Each floor has a great deck for sunrise and dolphin watching! As well, the top floor is huge! A true suite. We appreciated the well-stocked kitchen & loved the icemaker. We would definitely love to stay here again!
