Stayed Nov 29, 20255/5 – Perfect Oceanfront EscapeWe had an amazing stay at the Banana Wind beach cottage on Cat Island. The location is truly unbeatable—private, peaceful, and just steps from our very own stretch of pristine beach. Every morning we woke up to turquoise water, and we could snorkel right out front where we spotted parrot fish, grouper, snappers, rays, and so much more along the beautiful reefs. The cottage’s caretaker was incredibly kind and helpful, giving us great tips on other gorgeous, secluded beaches to explore around the island. The owners recently added Starlink internet which was great for reliable internet when we did want to use it. We absolutely loved the laid-back island atmosphere—no crowds, no noise, just pure relaxation. At night, the sky was breathtaking; with no light pollution, we could see millions of stars and even the Milky Way.Banana Wind is truly a hidden gem. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a quiet, authentic island getaway, and we can’t wait to return!

Stayed Jun 21, 2025My wife and I had the most amazing time celebrating my 50th. Great to reconnect without the kids. I over packed yet again and I didn’t pack much as we never saw another person unless we asked them to come. Just give them the heads up if you like to be secluded and they are happy to oblige.

Stayed Apr 30, 2025My mom and I absolutely loved our recent stay at Banana Winds on Cat Island! The location was stunning—right by the ocean—and the home was incredibly comfortable, well-equipped, and relaxing. It was hard to leave the house because it was so peaceful and beautiful. The locals were absolutely lovely, and the caretaker, Harrison, truly went above and beyond. My mom has alpha-gal syndrome, and this was her first time traveling with it. Harrison not only prepared two delicious, completely safe meals for her, but he also used fresh fruits and vegetables straight from his own garden—which made everything even more special. His thoughtfulness took so much stress out of the trip. He also gave us several personal recommendations for amazing beaches and places to explore—we discovered some real hidden gems thanks to him.We were also able to safely eat at a few restaurants, including Hidden Treasures and Greenwood, both of which were incredibly accommodating and caring about her allergies.I usually don’t return to the same place twice—I want to see as much of the world as I can—but this is one place I know I’ll be back to. I can’t wait to bring friends and family here and make it a regular part of my life. We truly can’t recommend it enough for its beauty, comfort, and the incredible kindness we experienced.

Stayed Dec 23, 2024We really enjoyed our stay at Banana Wind. I highly recommend having Mr. Harrison King prepare dinner for your first night. I recommend renting an SUV or something other than a car. The roads are terrible…everywhere

Stayed Nov 7, 2024We enjoyed a splendid vacation at the Banana Wind house. Lovely beach and grounds. The house was perfect for the two of us. The caretaker, Harrison, as very helpful and brought us the biggest lobster tail we had ever seen! We hope to return another time.

Stayed Jul 10, 2024We had the most relaxing vacation on Cat Island at the Banana Wind! The private beachfront location with amazing snorkeling right in front of the house doesn’t get any better. Our favorite part was having the entire beach all to ourselves. We had the caretaker, Harrison, prepare our first night’s meal of grouper and conch fritters. We highly recommend it. He was also helpful with any questions we had and recommended a couple of great restaurants on the island that we loved. The newly installed Starlink internet was great for streaming movies at the end of the day and also for checking in at work on Zoom. We can’t recommend Banana Wind enough and plan to return next spring!

Stayed Jun 5, 2024I’ll start with the great stuff: House location is amazing. when the water is calm snorkeling was awesome. The caretaker that manages the property was awesome and shared some fruit from his own garden which was delicious. As for the problems: The house lost power a couple times even after unplugging the AC in the master bedroom, this is because the house(electric stove, fridge, 3 AC units) was running off 2 30 amp single breaker poles, do with that information what you will. The lack of internet which I assume is from the fact they are running a directional antenna to the other rental properties LAN. It was always in the -97 dB to -115 dB range (for non tech people this equates to about 1-2 bars WiFi) and wouldn’t allow me to airplay to the TV, I didn’t go there for internet but I did want to stream from my phone to the smart TV in the evenings so that was a buzz kill All in all, if you want a remote island get-away just note power and WiFi are not guaranteed with this one.

Stayed Apr 20, 2024Just finished a 9 night stay at this property. We had a wonderful time relaxing and unwinding. We snorkeled the reefs walked the beach and collected sea glass. Cooked a lot of our meals at the house and had everything we needed to do so. Mr. King was very attentive and knowledgeable and an extremely great cook. We had him cook us conch fritters twice (yes they are that good) and ordered dinner from him one night, it was delicious and was enough food for 2 meals. If you are looking for relaxation in a beachfront home this is your place we didn't see another person on our beach for 8 of the 9 days.
