Escape to the peaceful shores of North Kohala, at the edge of Upolu Point, where the beauty of the Big Island meets the vast Pacific Ocean. Awhalecrossing Cabin is a hidden gem, offering a private oceanview getaway on a secluded coastline. This cozy, charming cabin promises an unforgettable vacation in a tranquil, rural setting.

Nestled in nature, the fully-furnished, 2-bedroom, 1-bath cabin is perfect for couples, families, or small groups, comfortably sleeping up to 5 guests. The downstairs bedroom features a queen-sized bed, while the upstairs bedroom offers both a king bed and a twin bed, making it ideal for families or close friends. The cabin comes with a fully-equipped kitchen, allowing you to prepare meals and enjoy them with the stunning ocean vista as your backdrop.

Relax in the spacious living room or on the screened-in porch, where you can savor the ever-changing views of the sea—watch the waves roll in, the sun setting over the horizon, and, if you're here during whale season (November - April), witness the awe-inspiring humpback whales breaching and singing right from your private lanai.

The cabin's wrap-around deck offers 360-degree views, making it the perfect spot for breathtaking sunsets, mystical moonbows, and the serene soundscape of nature—ocean waves, tropical birds, and the cool breezes. For those who love stargazing, the property's dark sky location offers unparalleled views of the night sky. With little light pollution, you'll be treated to stunning constellations, shooting stars, and even glimpses of distant planets, creating a perfect opportunity for a memorable evening of stargazing.

In winter, watch the dramatic surf roll in from the ocean, as the North Shore of the Big Island is known for some of the most powerful waves on the island. And if you're a fan of scenic vistas, take in the stunning views of Maui’s Haleakalā volcano across the Alenuihāhā channel. On clear days, the sight of the majestic peak is a reminder of the natural wonders that surround you.

Hiking trails abound, and the property is just a short walk to both the ocean and historical sites, including King Kamehameha's birthplace and the ancient Mo'okini Heiau.

While secluded, Awhalecrossing Cabin is conveniently located just 1 mile off Akoni Pule Highway. The charming towns of Hawi and Kapaau are only minutes away, where you'll find dining, galleries, and unique shopping experiences. The world-renowned beaches and resorts of the Gold Coast, including Hapuna and Mauna Kea—regularly ranked among the top 10 beaches in the world—are just a 20-minute drive away. Kona International Airport is 50 minutes by car.

Our Special Rustic Hawaiian Experience has been a beloved part of our family for nearly 45 years. With the company of our 2 Golden Retrievers and 2 Golden Doodles, we invite you to experience the magic of our island paradise.

Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or simply a place to reconnect with nature, Awhalecrossing Cabin is your perfect retreat.

Come for the views, stay for the experience.

Linda & Marty

Enjoyed the amazing views and eclectic antique furnishings. A quick drive down the hill to tide pools before sunset. Relaxing, quiet and comfortable for 4 adults.

We were welcomed first by our host's friendly golden doodles then our host stopped by to offer assistance with whatever we needed. After we dropped our bags we headed to the end of the road to see an incredible view of the sunset. While watching the sun set, we saw whales breaching. The view and very limited audience in the area felt like we had the whole thing to ourselves.

When we all realized that the Ironman Triathalon was going to make travel harder from the south end of the island, we found this gem at the north end of the island in Hawi. Linda's home was like going back in time. Her furnishings were stellar antiques with an island flair. Beautiful little gem with a lovely host!

Great views, sky & ocean especially, from the huge comfortable screened porch and lovely, airy space, thoughtfully appointed inside and out. Our host Linda patiently responded to all our queries during the days prior to our stay & greeted us on arrival. Everything was in working order, hot water took awhile to reach the tap but it got there. Night sounds were a mellow and soothing mix of crickets and the steady sea breezes, with a very occasional coqui chiming in. Just 5 minutes to Hawi town for groceries, cafes, espresso, cute shops or a tank of gas. Very relaxing and pleasant stay. There was a shy, very reclusive little gecko patrolling about the place during our stay, cute and charming to our way of thinking!
