We have named this recently renovated, beautiful vintage mini home Aristokosmos, from the Greek words ariston (excellent) + kosmos (world/jewel), conducive to the superlative quality this atmospheric, fully detached 19th century home will offer. Its architecture meshes harmoniously with one of the most picturesque and historical neighborhoods of Chania, the old Tabakaria (Tannery factory) district, which is gradually turning into one of the greatest attractions for the discerning guest to theisland. The main entrance leads to a cozy ergonomic ground floor with fireplace, fully equipped kitchenette, a sofa which converts into a semi-double bed, dining table and chairs, walk-in shower and toilet, closet, separate laundry-machine area and luggage space under the stone staircase. On the upper floor, the guest is met with the ambience of ceiling beams four meters above a peach pine wooden floor. A Queen-size bed, Smart TV, mini-bar, closet, toilet+shower, a beautifully cozy loft with another semi-double bed and a private sea-view terrace guarantee a most unique experience. No expense has been spared in the decor, quality furnishings, luxury and comfort in this traditional home. However, it should be noted that the sleeping areas are not partitioned with doors. Everything is laid out in open spaces.

Our neighborhood is not only privileged in being in one of the most picturesque seaside historical locations of the city, the tannery district, but also in not having lost the pulse of its initial function, as it hosts the sole surviving traditional tannery, operating under the strictest sanitary conditions in respect of the touristic development of the region. Ιn fact, it is of such significance that schools and agencies organize field trips to visit it. The neighborhood is one of the quietest in town and boasts immediate, walking-distance access to everything a vacationer needs. Beyond this, the city's most famous (not to mention most picturesque) sea tavern, Thalassino Ageri, is located a mere 100 meters from the home, where you can dine literally beside the naturally formed sea pool with the unique view of the city outlined by a horizon that provides one of the most breath-taking sunset views. Apart from the cove right in front of your house, within a short walking distance, you can swim at the famous Kouloura swim spot - a picturesque, natural pool encircled by rocks frequented by locals and guests alike.

The house has so much character and is so convenient, it had all we needed. There were 3 good restaurants in walking distance and an excellent bakery/coffee shop at the top of the street to the right of the house. Panos, our host was very helpful and entertaining, he played his lyre for us and we enjoyed our conversation! The sea was only steps away, we saw it from the deck. It was a short bus ride or you could walk into Old Town Chania. We highly recommend this rental home, it was hard to leave!

We had an amazing stay here! Our host was absolutely fantastic. He greeted us warmly at the door, gave us a full tour of the home, and was incredibly helpful throughout our visit. On our last night, he even sang and shared a beautiful poem he had written himself, which made the experience unforgettable. The property itself was spotless, private, and perfectly located just outside the busy city, close enough to walk in (about 20 minutes), yet peaceful and relaxing. It’s right beside the sea, with a spectacular spot where locals gather to watch and feel the waves crash. It was such a unique and fun experience! We would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. The only small drawback was that the air conditioner on the second floor wasn’t working perfectly, but everything else was wonderful.

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful apartment. The hosts live next door and are very pleasant and provided great dining and sightseeing suggestions. We even had the pleasure of a lyre performance from our rooftop deck. The location was perfect; close to shopping and seaside dining, yet far enough away from the busy city center, which was very congested. There is a small beach (pictured) just a few steps away and a larger, equally beautiful swimming area popular with locals just a few minutes walk away (also pictured).Would definitely stay here again!

Incredible property in the Chalepa neighborhood in Chania. The photos say it all! Close to beaches and a nice walk to the classic city center. The hosts were amazing and went over and beyond to help my sister with an injury she had on our first day. Truly compassionate, kind, and intelligent people who have created a special place to share. Highly recommended!

Rarely so we stay at hotels on our adventures. We find it so important to learn and appreciate the location and most importantly, the beautiful people. This location (and the hosts) did not disappoint. Although it is small, it has everything you need to have an enjoyable stay in Chania. We enjoyed coffee every morning from the roof top deck with a majestic view of the Mediterranean Sea and melodic clapping of the waves. The locals moving about heading to work or fishing was an added bonus. We did not rent a car and enjoyed our walks to and from Old Town. If ever in Chania again, we will stay here!

Sadly we could only stay 3 nights. This property is close enough to the places tourists want to be in Chania but blessedly far from the chaos. The 20-minute walk along the coast to the Vinetian Harbor may seem far, but after spending the afternoon there, you'll be glad for this escape. (Cab ride is 8). The neighborhood is mid-revitalzation with new and refurbished properties near some falling down. You are meters away from a shallow rocky beach and locals jump from lava rocks nearby for a deeper plunge. Further down the shore is a gorgeous local swimming hole protected by natural rock formations. 7 minute walk away from the new state of the art archeology museum. There was an excellent new seafood restaurant down the street. Our host anxiously shared information about the area with us upon arrival. Plus he generously played a few songs on his lyre as he talked about the importance of the instrument and Greek mythology. It was magical and special. The house is immaculately restored with nice details. It is comfortable, but it is small. 4 may feel crowded with luggage. 3 might be best. What a great find and perfect for what we wanted. Highly recommend

This home was a perfect spot for my husband and I to relax. The natural sea pools were a highlight! We walked to the Venetian Port and strolled along for a food tour. Chania is a magical city and our hosts helped make it extra special!

This property was so cozy and tucked into a beautiful corner of Chania away from the hustle of the city. Our host was amazing and took us on a quick walking tour of the neighborhood and gave us a history lesson on the properties which were all old tanneries. The fish tavern down the street provided an amazing dinner and sunset. Highly recommend and will definitely book this property again when we return for a longer visit. Too much to see on this beautiful island!

This property is a gem, tucked away in a nice neighborhood in the old tannery district, not too far from the center of Chania. The house was beautiful, very clean, and fully equipped. It is walking distance from a great seafood tavern, in which you could eat on the water and enjoy a sunset dinner. It is also a 5 minute walk to a beach. Panagiotis and his wife were amazing hosts and he even did us the honor of playing the Cretan lyra which was an extra treat.
