You will need to purchase groceries for your stay on the mainland in advance of catching the ferry to the island. There is a convenience store on the island with limited basic supplies (milk, bread, coffee etc.).
The fully equipped kitchen, kitchen bar and dining area open to the huge entertainment deck. On the deck you'll find a hot tub, propane grill, propane fire table and a complete set of patio furniture. Just a few steps to the beach where you'll have 3 kayaks and 2 stand up paddle boards at your service at no additional charge. The calm waters of Oro Bay make for some of the smoothest paddling you'll find anywhere. A short paddle across the bay brings you to Jacobs Point Park Marine Reserve with 82 acres of natural habitat and over a mile of pristine, undisturbed beach. This is the largest natural reserve in the entire Puget Sound. Expect to see our resident seals, heron, deer and eagles. More experienced paddlers can circle the island or head for nearby Ketron Island. If you're lucky you'll see the Orca and Humpback whales that frequently visit southern Puget Sound. If you'd like to bring your own boat we have a buoy right in front of the house.

We planned a trip looking for a comfortable place with a beautiful view, and this did not disappoint! The house was spectacular and the view out onto the sound was amazing. We definitely plan to venture back to the Pacific Northwest!
A small group of friends in their 70's enjoyed the view and relaxing atmosphere of theis VRBO.
We stayed for our annual girls weekend and it was perfect! Lovely house and a gorgeous view. The hosts were very responsive and accommodating!
Pricey stay but had all we were looking for. Communication with owner/manager top notch. Great stay overall...
Had a fabulous week with friends and kids. So close to the water. Having water toys on proberty was a big plus. Great deck for meals, games and hanging out. Kitchen and living spaces good size. Bedroom balconies for morning coffee perfect. We had a blast!
Everything as described if not better. Great stay for the family. Would definitely come again.
The property is beautiful, bring your own food.
The house is incredibly peaceful. It was very very clean and the kitchen is well stocked. The check in process felt somewhat cumbersome, and there were a lot of rules. However, we mixed up our check out date and consequently checked out late, which they were very nice about. It would be nice if they would just buy some towels for the Beach and hot tub rather than requiring that you bring them. But we slept well, watched beautiful sunsets, hiked all over the island and generally had a really lovely time at Donn and Betty's place. There aren't any board games so bring your own!
We had a great visit - the Anderson Island home was perfect for us. The house was very clean, quiet and located on the bay. We enjoyed cooking, hot tubbing, kayaking (spotted a couple of bald eagles), and just relaxing.
We enjoyed our stay. Views were great, deck needs a refresh, peeling paint. If you stay, bring water, tap water is yellow. Plenty of places to sleep. Could upgrade kitchen supplies, drinking wine our of a scratched plastic glass isn't near as fun as a clean glass wine goblet. Put off we had to bring our own towels for hottub.
We had a lovely weekend!
Beautiful house, great view, and comfortable beds. Great getaway spot for a family.
Four of us friends stayed very comfortably. There was plenty of space, in a quiet neighborhood and it had pretty well equipped bathrooms and kitchen. It felt cared for and clean. The driveway is a little rough for folks with mobility issues.
What a peaceful place on Anderson Island! It was quiet and restful and so relaxing. We were impressed with how clean it was too. Glad we came!
Wonderful stay and beautiful views. The island is such a quiet and peaceful getaway and only a short ferry ride away from many many adventures in the Puget sound. Would recommend!
This house is so comfy and welcoming. It had everything we needed. The waters were calm and perfect for kayaking. Amy, the on-island host who met us was so friendly and got us checked in quickly. Betty, the owner had great communication. I would definitely rent this house again!
We had a great stay! Everything was clean and communication was great between the owner and island hostess. We would definitely recommend this as a vacation spot!
This house had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. All the house rules were clearly laid out ahead of time (which we greatly appreciated). The house is right on the water with only a short walk to get down to the beach. It was nice having access to the kayaks and SUPs. The hot tub was nice. The beds were comfortable. The towels and linens provided were good quality. We had some issues with a couple of the showers but the owners were great with communications and handled it appropriately. As others have mentioned, the driveway is quite steep but we were able to drive down to load/unload the car which made it manageable.
Beautiful comfortable home right on the beach. Kitchen has everything you need (even basic spices)! Plenty of space to relax Check in was seamless with their wonderful hostess meeting us right on time and showed us all we needed to know. Even though it rained all weekend we enjoyed the view and the hot tub and just relaxing! We can not wait to come back in the summer so we can walk on the beach and enjoy the deck. Some have complained about the house rules which we did not understand - Respect this house. Take off your shoes (we do at home anyway!) tossing sheets in the wash and towels in the basket is no big deal. One tip - there is NOTHING on the Isand. bring it all with you. other than bare bones basics at the mini market Anderson Island is residential ( OK there is a golf course with a restuarant and the little coffee shop by the mini mart was cue for a latte run) and QUIET and LOVELY.
We had reserved this property in 2020, but cancelled because of COVID. I am so glad we decided to book again. The location (water view) and amenities (hot tub, gas fire pit and bbq, kayaks) made our stay very enjoyable. The wildlife was an added bonus, especially the nest of swallows.
Having seen some prior reviews that raised concerns about too many restrictions we were a little apprehensive. However, our experience was fantastic communication with the owners, the place was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, equipped with everything we could need and more, fantastic views- simply outstanding! There is a brand new hot tub which was wonderful. Prior comments said too many signs and rules in house- we have no idea where that came from. There’s a sign or two reminding users it is a septic tank system, and another asking no shoes in the house, but that is about it. Overall we wished we had stayed longer and absolutely loved the house and the experience. Getting to the island is easy and the on island store is really well stocked for whatever we needed. Mostly we sat on the huge decks and watched the view, walked on the beach, and curled up inside relaxing. Loved it!
