An authentic stone Cretan windmill

Three friends and myself stayed at the Windmill at Anemomili for five nights. We loved the drive up to Sitia that grew more and more wild and beautiful. The windmill is magical. Extremely comfortable and put together with so much care, artistry and love. The hosts were proactive and keen to ensure that we had a good time, giving us a lot of ideas of what to do. We had some beautiful beach days (Vai and Itanos are fabulous), and also visited Toplou monastery and some of the archeological sites. We loved a supper at Retro in Palekastro - great local food at reasonable prices. We also cooked in a lot and the kitchen was easy to use and had everything we needed. There is no shop/mini market in Agria Fotia so you must do your food shopping in Sitia or Palekastro. That side of the coast is quite wild, and swimming in the beaches very close to the windmill is not great unless the day is very calm. But, there are such beautiful beaches not far away that that shouldn't be a concern. Thank you to our hosts - we loved every moment of our time there.

Lovely house, actually an old windmill done up very nicely. The garden is great, with a swing and climbing trees for the kids, and fresh lemons right from the orchard! Very nice people, checkin and checkout with no hassle. They even made us some cakes :)

We had a fantastic stay at this exceptional place. The Mill offers everything You need for some relaxed days, huge terrace with seaview and even a hammock. Very friendly and helpful hosts! Perfect location to explore the eastern part of Crete.

3 months in this beautiful mill were really fantastic ! We enjoyed everything and were spécially happy about the situation, the quality and the originality of the spot. Great period, still fresh and often we were the only strange strangers ! We made a warm fire everyday and had great instructive conversations with Lefteris and Kate. Unforgetable holydays and we recomand absolutely !

Our family recently enjoyed a week at a delightful windmill property near Sitia, and it was an enchanting experience. The windmill seamlessly combined modern comfort with traditional charm, offering a cozy and well-equipped retreat. The host's warm hospitality was a highlight, with fresh garden produce adding an authentic touch to our meals. Surrounded by the beauty of Crete and view to the sea. Our children loved the unique setting, where they could explore and take care of the property's cats. In summary, our week was a magical escape, offering an authentic and memorable family vacation. Highly recommended!

A very unusual and quirky place to stay, it has been converted to a comfortable holiday home on a number of levels ( so you need to have full mobility). Our host was very warm and welcoming and we had some very interesting conversations. the beds were very comfortable , the kitchen was well equipped too. It was a peaceful location set in beautiful gardens off the main road but it was very easy to visit the next village of Palekastro for shopping and eating in the tavernas. Not far into Siteia if you want a busier place. The courtyard is a lovely place to sit to take in the atmosphere. We would recommend for couples and small groups. If you enjoy touring and exploring there are some lovely beaches within 20 to 50 minutes drives depending on your choices. If you like quiet and peaceful beaches try Itanos and Xerocampos. A great holiday, will return.

The Anomemili rental is on a beautiful estate with a view of the ocean. It was comfortable, the hosts were caring and fixed anything that needed fixing right away. I was welcomed by Lefetris and Despina with cookies and they checked in periodically to see I had no problems. The place itself is immaculate with a weekly cleaner. The grounds are a delight. In short, I will probably go back because it was a perfect place.

We had a great week hiking around Kreta with the nice Mill as our Base. The object was exactly as described in a very quiet area some minutes outside Sitia. We really felt at home, as everything we needed was there. We even got home made Olive Oil and Pomegranates from the Garden, which were delicious. So, we had a great time and can only recommend this place.

We love the owners, we love the house, we love the cats , we love the yard, we love Sitia and around beaches... we just loved everything about our stay. Really enjoyed it! If we are lucky will se you again ❤
