Property could use a good deep clean and some updates. The pictures didn’t quite depict that. All the bedroom TVs were non functional and apparently it says in the instructions to bring your own entertainment sticks and or dvd players. Never in the history of V and other booking sites do homes do this. One tv was so old it was rusted at the HDMI port. The host did attempt to get us some sticks but then they needed to be set up by the host bc of email restrictions. There were cockroaches in various spots and also ants everywhere in the kitchen. The sheets were so crappy that they scratched when you laid on them.The bikes were broken. 2 of them and the beach wagon I had to repair with wire and bailing twine. There was no hand soap in any of the bathrooms and don’t tell guests that i have given you a starter pack of toilet paper!!! If anyone’s pays close to 3k for less then a week surely we can supply a bit of TP!I have pictures of these items if you are confused as to why I am giving this less than good review!The pros were good house layout. Location to the beach.

This was our first trip to the area. The location was amazing. St George Island Plantation was a beautiful gated community that provided a great amount of security to our family. The beach and island is beautiful. The amenities with the gated community were wonderful. The owners did provide bicycles. 3 out of the 4 were usable. However, the upkeep of the property was not adequate. I was aware it was an older home and that's perfectly fine, but the house was not clean by any means. There was still sand throughout the house when we arrived. Cobwebs blanketed the windows. There were what appeared to be spider eggs on the backs of some of the furniture. We found several cockroaches running around. Dog hair was still on the furniture. One of shower heads was broken off when we arrived, and the owners requested we be at the house to let a plumber in. We had an infant with us and we had to set up a pack and play for her to sleep in. When we scooted a bed some we found a huge build up of dirt and feathers. All the bedrooms were on the bottom level of the home. They all had a strong musty, mildew smell. We've stayed in many different vrbo locations before and this was our first time experiencing this. I will reiterate again that the location was great, just not the property we stayed at.

The location in The Plantation is good, and St George Island is a Florida secret destination. The house is very nice, clean and well decorated. The layout described on-line is inaccurate. The house has three stories: First is storage and stilts for storm protection; second is four bedrooms with two baths which open into the adjoining BR's and the entry hall, third is kitchen, LR & bathroom/laundry with morning deck and afternoon deck and screen backyard porch with fan. Access to 3d floor is via stair from ground and circular stair from entry hall. The layout dictates sharing bathrooms and hauling food to 3d floor. Whew!!! Club house pool is delightful; folks from Tenn have discovered St George and they are very nice.

it was a great place to stay and the description was very accurate. the host was very helpful. if they would have us back i am sure we would like to stay there again

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Palms. We did not have any issues that we needed to reach out to the owners for. As pictured, you see the place isn’t some fancy ritz stay and we loved the laid back vibe. Beds were okay, some more comfortable than others, plenty of bedding, pillows, throw blankets for all. We did have to clean up when we got there, it wasn’t perfect. There are other reviews about roaches we didn’t see any until day three and the last 4 days of our trip we killed several per day, mostly in the downstairs area. I guess it’s just normal for the town. Didn’t bother us too much. The absolute best thing about this place is the proximity to the beach. A very short walk to the beach! We loved having a stocked shed with bicycles and beach chairs. What a great perk the owners offer!! As of Aug 2024 there were 4 beach chairs and 3 tailgate style chairs, 4 bicycles (the orange bikes front tire wouldn’t stay inflated, I’m sure it’s an easy fix). We rode the bikes to the pools and also to the bob Sikes cut boardwalk entrance where we fished off the jetties and caught a few little catfish that we threw back. The beach cart in the shed made our beach walks easy breezy!! Both umbrellas had broken parts, so bring your own! Overall really great stay!! We will be back! SGI is gorgeous and was very private - very few folks on the beach!

The house was mostly very clean (a hair in one shower only) and mostly very comfortable. We loved that bikes were included and the property was walkable to the beach. If you are used to the local realty companies descriptions of “across the street” please note this house is a little further away. However it is still quite close. If you are a cook you might want to consider bringing what utensils you need for meal prep as some of them were needing replacement. There was a good selection of pots, pans and storage containers provided. The owners were very responsive and helpful. There is a metal spiral staircase that connects the downstairs bedroom area up to the kitchen, living room and one bathroom so note if you have folks with mobility issues along. It was not an issue for us. There are no reading lamps in the living room, overhead lighting is your only option. The furniture was comfortable and provided ample seating. Overall we had a great stay.
