THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Poinsettia Heights is a centrally located quiet neighborhood in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. Steps away from vibrant Wilton Manors and the Beach, and a short drive to Miami, the area is a perfect location to explore South Florida from.

The location is perfect for those guests who decide not to rent a car. Sunrise Blvd, Federal Highway (US1) and the adorable outcrop that is dubbed 13th street (NE 13th St) are all within walking distance (under a mile).

LOCAL FLAVOR
Nearby you will find local gems such as Eucalyptus Gardens, Storks, Gulfstream Brewery, Lovelee Bakeshop, Croissan‘time, and Montce Swim. The Galleria Mall is just 1.5 miles away and there are plenty of places to rent Kayaks/ Paddleboards, dozens of mid-century modern vintage shops, and most importantly; the golden sands of Fort Lauderdale Beach.

EVERYDAY CONVENIENCE
Within 1 mile of the home, you’ll find:
• Publix supermarket
• Walgreens pharmacy
• Dunkin’ Donuts
• Middle River Terrace Park
• Liquor store (open until 2 a.m.)
• Gas stations, restaurants, and shops

QUICK DISTANCES
• Beach – 2.1 miles
• Las Olas – 1.8 miles
• Flagler Village – 1.3 miles
• Wilton Manors – 1.5 miles
• Downtown Fort Lauderdale – 3.2 miles
• Fort Lauderdale Airport – 6.5 miles

BRIGHTLINE TRAIN– 2.5 miles
Miami: ~30 min
West Palm Beach: ~30 min
Orlando: ~2.5 hrs

GETTING AROUND
Landlubbers can head due south (to Sunrise Blvd) or east (to US 1 / Federal Hwy) to reach major thoroughfares where public transportation via bus is available, but Uber & Lyft is readily available.

One block West of the home, there are two bus stops, one northbound and one southbound. We do not suggest public transportation in Fort Lauderdale as it's not fully developed as in larger cities.

If you do not plan to rent a vehicle at the airport we suggest using Sixt rent-a-car on Sunrise Blvd. It's within a 5-minute drive from the home and has great vehicles for guests traveling in large groups.

WATER TAXI
If you’d rather swap asphalt for water, the iconic Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi is close at hand—your pass to cruising the Intracoastal like a true mariner, with stops at waterfront restaurants, shops, and cultural spots.

This place was awesome! We went with a group for spring break and it was perfect. Tons of places to sleep - everyone had a bed and we still had extra space. It was great that there was a guest house so the boys and girls could split bathrooms. The outdoor spaces were awesome for all of us to hang out before we went out. Tom and Noelle were great too. So helpful and super nice - you’ll love it.

A nice place to stay. Not perfect, but decide for yourself what’s important to you. Great: - Comfortable king-sized bed - Tom and Noelle were great hosts, very responsive and proactive. - Private - Nice atmosphere Not as good: - No comfortable seating for us. Everything was either too high (day bed couch above trundle, bar height dining chairs without backs) or too low (pillows on floor) - The AC in the bedroom was not up to the task of keeping the bedroom cold enough for me, but I do need a cold bedroom. I mentioned this to the hosts, and they sent a technician out right away, but they couldn’t find a problem. The other AC was up to the task, so we simply left the bedroom door open at night. - The listing didn’t show the entrance, but this is a guesthouse behind another house. There’s a dirt and gravel walkway from the driveway to the front of the house. This could be a problem for rolling suitcases or carrying heavy (for you) things. - Kitchen is minimally well stocked. There is a nice variety of seasonings and good counter space, and at least one of everything you need, but there weren’t many cooking utensils, and only a couple of pots which were an awkward size for some things (I think they were big). We also didn’t find pot lids (though we later realized they might have been hiding in the back corner of the cabinet). A paper towel holder would be nice; we spilled water and the only roll of paper towels got soaked on the side it was standing on. I wavered between giving this place 4 or 5 stars, because it is such a good value and the hosts really went above and beyond, but not having comfortable seating was the deciding factor for not giving it full stars.

First I want to say the communication and kind nature of the hosts Tom and Noelle was exceptional. They quickly responded to messages and even refunded me for one night stay as I had to check out early. While I feel there were good intentions as it was clear this small older guest home was remodeled and decorated the place smelled like mildew and mold. the photos looked like a more newer looking place. In person it looked like it could use some love inside an out. I have had serious health issues with mold and lyme disease and my symptoms instantly were exacerbated in this home which is why I had to check out. Unfortunately there was no HVAC and only window aircons which may of been adding to the dampness in this older home. Outdoors the fence in the back sitting area on deck was broken and fallen, and the back of home where lounging was looked very dirty with old boards. All and all it was a bad experience for me as I did not sleep much for the 2 nights I was there due to what seemed to be dampness and mold. However as soon as I was able to relocate I was given a one night refund which I am very grateful for. I was really looking forward to a relaxing stay however that did not happen. Thank you for the well intentions.

A uniquely updated property with creative nautical themed decor! Enough Room for our two families and the older kids, especially loved their privacy in the detached 1BR apt style house. Safe and quiet neighborhood that was convenient to Publix (1mi) for supplies. It was a reasonable drive to Fort Lauderdale by the Sea and Hollywood beaches, both our kids enjoyed very much with great beachside restaurants and shops nearby. The Everglades airboat ride was an exciting gator experience for our littles. Our highlight of the trip was going to watch Michigan play at the semi-final football championship game at the Hard Rock Stadium, awesome (less than 30 min drive)! Responsive and caring hosts, for instance, we had trouble with the washer and they sent someone out within a 1/2 hour to tend to it, they ordered a part and I trust these caring hosts have already fixed it by now! Thank you for sharing your home with strangers, we had a wonderful time for NY! Cool house!!!!Cheers!

My stay at The Rum Locker was a very pleasant experience and I definitely would stay there again. It was very quiet and private and had an exotic atmosphere. Perfect for pets. The hosts were incredibly accommodating and made you feel comfortable and relaxed.
