This was a great base camp for our winter peaks trip. It was clean and stocked with the essentials. We visited on one of the coldest weekends of the year and the host had the cabin warm for the duration of our stay.

As advertised, it's a base camp. Everything works, good electric stove and fridge/freezer, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster. Wifi worked pretty well, Roku TV came in handy during rainy time. 5 people, 5 towels. No extras, but enough. 2 half rolls of toilet paper not enough for 5 people, 6 nights. Biggest negative- William told me there was a charcoal grill. I searched pretty thoroughly but never found one. I brought food specifically for grilling but couldn't do so. Tried to contact owner but no response. I would stay again though, just maybe bring a little disposable grill.

The location was great for both ice climbing and skiing and the house with its 3 bedrooms was just fine for 3 people (one of us was fine staying in a room with bunkbeds). There could be more pictures of the bedrooms in the listing. Water was hot, the house was warm. There was a dishwasher that worked, and the house had a cabin feel--if maybe a little sparse. We didn't use the washer/drier which are in a dank looking basement. There is very little cell service at the house, so you're dependent on the wifi (the password for which was never sent--we found it on the bottom of the router). For us, the Wifi went out one night overnight and until the next evening we couldn't communicate with the outside world except by leaving the house. However, I don't think it was the host's fault as the router was working fine, but there was no internet coming into it--and the internet DID eventually come back on. As other reviewers have stated, the communication with the host was more 'you ask for something and they may respond' than a 'you will be provided with all the info you need ahead of check in' experience. For anyone who stays, make sure you get any questions asked ahead of time--again, there isn't great cell service at the house.

Owners of this property calls this place : camp , and it is like a camp. If you looking for something elegant and nice , this house is not . Communication with the owner besides first day was not existent.

William's cabin was perfect for a quick ADK getaway! The home was more equipped than expected (we usually camp, so there were more amenities than we are used to having) and the location was perfect- close to hikes, Lake Placid, and easy to find. Would definitely recommend this and will hopefully return in the future!

    • No response from host when contacted. • No msg from host about keys, rules or wifi information. It took us a while to figure out where wifi was. • It was dark & difficult to see but we managed to find the key. • The place itself was very clean but did smell musty. • There was no dish soap & we didn't dirty enough dishes to warrant using the dishwasher. • Kitchen was very well equipped to cook a big meal. • This place has a lot of potential however it felt cold & sparse. There isn't enough seating in the main living area & the sofa needs replacing. No table next to the beds & no decor anywhere. It really could use a woman's touch. • The property is quite large & there is a bit of a trail out in the back of the house. • The place has big windows & plenty of light. Decent enough. I had booked kind of last minute so I didn't have a lot of options. I was satisfied with the place as it was clean & would rent again in a pinch but would probably choose something else if it was available.

We stayed here for a family trip a few years back and then decided to re-book for a solo trip this year with our two pups! We unfortunately could not make the trip last minute but the host was so kind and helpful with this news. From our previous stay I can say that the location of this rental is the BEST if you are coming to hike around the ADK. The house itself was well kept and there was plenty of space for the 5 of us. We will definitely be re-booking a trip here again soon!

Could be great. Nice cabin but very limited with supplies if staying longer than a couple days. Couch in living room needs replacing. Limited seating if there are multiple people in your group. Outside was not maintained, grass was not cut and high which made it tough with the dog. A few corrections and this place would be amazing. I would stay again for my visit to Lake Placid and surrounding area.
