Or stay where you are and soak up some of the local flavors. Many great bars, restaurants, and coffee shops are within walking distance. Get to know what New Orleans is truly about by staying in one of her coolest neighborhoods, Mid-City. Affectionately known as the Heart of the City.

The Neighborhood:
Mid-City is the heart of New Orleans, the area where locals come when they want to remember what makes this city the generous, pleasure-loving, hard-boiled town that it is. Stop by any neighborhood eaterie here for an elegant experience or a meal to remember at the numerous local favorites.

Mid-city showcases the spirit of a true neighborhood as defined by that unique measure of camaraderie found only in this city: It has its own Mardi Gras parading society. The Krewe of Mid-City, founded in 1933 by a group of area businessmen, is the fifth oldest Carnival marching organization in New Orleans.

Getting Around:
This is a very walkable neighborhood and only two blocks from the Canal Street Car which will take you right down to the French Quarter for $1.25 in about 20 minutes. It's our preferred way to get around, easy and convenient!

Other Things to Note:
Per New Orleans City requirements, this contains a decibel monitoring device. The device is located in a common area and not in any bedroom or bathroom.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Thanksgiving week stay at this property. The apartment itself was loaded with New Orleans charm (artwork, high ceilings, lovely antique furniture, ceiling fans, tons of natural light) and was stocked with every possible convenience. In vacation properties, I have often found a lack of basic items, but this was absolutely not the case with this rental, as such things were provided in abundance: plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, cleaning items, etc. Should one be inclined to cook (in New Orleans??), spices, pots and pans, working appliances, etc. were supplied, as were utensils, dishes, and glassware of all sorts, etc. We had one problem with the primary television (and T-Day is a big sports weekend), but it was resolved the next morning with a replacement TV. We were impressed and gratified by the rapid response. The hosts are super and were extremely responsive to our every need. There is an excellent Irish pub located two doors down -- exceptional food, sports viewing galore, great ambiance. Surprisingly, no sounds drifted down to the apartment. The entire neighborhood is comfortable, safe, and tremendously appealing. The streetcar is a couple of blocks away. We will definitely seek to rent this property on our next visit to this magical city.
