Stayed Mar 25, 2026We loved staying in the Algiers neighborhood and using the ferry to cross the river. The house is beautiful and as advertised. There is a great taco place just down the street. The owner is quick to respond to any questions or concerns. I would love to come back!

Stayed Jan 15, 2026We enjoyed the house, location, and the host. We were there for a wedding and the home was easy for us to host a brunch the day after the wedding! Easy to get around the area to shop and to get to the city of New Orleans.

Stayed Dec 7, 2025This was our second time staying at this lovely spacious home with a porch and a friendly neighborhood cat. Beds are comfy, we were very warm on some very cold days. The kitchen had all we needed to feel at home. The TV could be bigger with a sound bar but honestly we did not watch TV very much, so much else to do! The ferry is a fantastic cheap efficient way for getting into the French Quarter. The nieighborhood is quiet with some really beautiful historic homes. We felt safe walking around. Quaint restaurants and a grocer close by. We never used our car the entire time. The owner is responsive when called upon. I’m sure we will book this place again!

Stayed Nov 20, 2025This fit our group perfectly. The house is spacious and comfortable and located in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood. The ferry is minutes away and offers the opportunity to see the city and sunset easily. Bruce, the host, is incredibly responsive and helpful. 10/10! My only regret is that we didn't stay longer. We will be back.

Stayed Oct 26, 2025This property is in a great location! The ferry is about a 7 minute walk from the house. We bought the Le Pass for 15.00 a person for 1 week which allowed unlimited use of the ferry, streetcars, and the RTA buses. The Ferry is only a 2 minute ride to the French Quarter. There are restaurants and coffee shops very close to the house. Very nice and quiet neighborhood. The house is very clean and just a beautiful, comfortable place to stay ! The bedrooms are decorated beautifully. Nice sized bathrooms, updated kitchen. Highly recommended!

Stayed Aug 15, 2025The stay was ok. I didn't appreciate the fact that the owner showed up twice without prior notice. One of the toilet seats was broken and it cut me on the buttocks. The fan blades were removed from the bedroom where I stayed. Also, the owner called me about the door being unlocked, and we were inside the property at the time.

Stayed Jun 23, 2025Conveniently located. Parked our car the1st day we got there & didn’t move until we checked out. Less than 10 minutes, but more than 5 minute walk from the Algiers Ferry. Perfect w/3 day ferry pass to & from the French Quarter. French Quarter experience but none of noise. Neighborhood nice, sidewalks bumpy and a little rough in some spots. House is very nice. It’s old so you have old house noises but very charming. Furnishings are mostly antique, but comfortable. BC furnishings are older I wish there were luggage stands and plastic hangers. I had to place our luggage on the floor. Bruce was out of town on vacation, but still responded with any concerns I had. The beds were firm and comfortable. I always bring my own pillow and blanket, so can’t comment on that. The showers were nice, water hot when needed. Very happy for the washer and dryer, because being summer we sweated with all the daily walking we would do, so it was nice to be able to wash our clothes in the evening. The only rooms that had window coverings were the bedrooms, so I kind of felt like we were on display in the kitchen, dining, and living rooms especially in the evening. No name brand grocery store nearby. Restaurants nearby that we tried and liked-Dry Dock and Nighthawk Napoletana Pizza. It’s hard to get back on the highway and they seemed to block some streets in the evening. Rough sidewalks, blocked streets, and difficulty getting back on the highway is a city problem. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed Apr 18, 2025Great location. Family friendly neighborhood. Will definitely stay here again. If you have kids though, or if you are an adult that likes falling asleep to TV, bring a laptop or tablet as there are only 2 TVs in this rental. The rooster out the back yard doesn’t allow sleeping late either. Other than that, it was awesome!

Stayed Feb 11, 2025We traveled to NOLA, Algiers, for my daughters wedding at Compass Point. I found the listing on VRBO and immediately liked the home. I was not disappointed. The home was old with squeaky original wood floors and the large original windows rattled a bit during storms but that is the charm of a 1929 home. The antiques are lovely, the kitchen was well appointed, and it has 3 bathrooms. The home is within walking distance to several restaurants and pubs as well as the ferry which drops you off right down town near Bourbon street. A 3.00 Le Pass pays for the Ferry, Trolley, and the bus line in NOLA for 24 hours. What a bargain. We met the Host, Bruce, and he is delightful. We will not hesitate to rebook this property.

Stayed Jan 12, 2025This property is in a great location with easy access to the ferry and some neighborhood restaurants. Once inside it is more spacious than the pictures make it look. There are nice antique furnishings and everything was clean when we got there. The layout of the house and the associated furniture make it best for just four adults. Probably not many people coming to New Orleans are going to be cooking much food with all the great restaurants, but you should note that even for preparing a few breakfast meals during our stay we found the cookware to be pretty beat up and minimal.

Stayed Oct 15, 2024Bruce communicated very well throughout the whole experience. It was just enough. We were close to 4 different restaurants, close to the ferry, and there was a general store around the corner. Very ideal location. It was even a little park for the kids at the end of the block. The place was equipped with all the odds and ends. Very accommodating. It was a blessing finding this gem. 10 outta 10 would definitely recommend.

Stayed Sep 1, 2024It was a good stay and a good location, however if you want to go downtown often, this place is remote and five minutes from the ferry which is 5-10 minutes from downtown.(ferry is every half hour) As for beds, they were comfortable, but the pillows needed work, much too flat for my taste. We didn’t spend much time at the property, usually just a place to sleep. There were some places nearby for food, a pizza place, a bar/grill (dry dock), a bar that sometimes has food (crown and anchor), a French bar/grill (forget name), a breakfast/lunch place (toute du suite) all within 5 mins walk.) The wifi was good as well.

We will definitely get back in touch with him when we come back again. You couldn't ask for a better host. Sonja Gamble
