My family and I enjoyed the Stonewall Lodge so much last summer that we booked it again this summer for a longer stay. This property is so unique--it's like living in your own private park. This log lodge looks rustic on the outside but has many luxury touches that make it so comfortable and special. We love it!
We have stayed in many vacation rentals--this one was the most wonderful of all. The lodge and property are splendid--it was like being at a luxurious summer camp for adults. The rustic feel of the log construction was balanced with all the luxuries of home (nice bathrooms, comfortable beds, big kitchen, etc.). I loved that there were interesting things (art, collected treasures, etc.) throughout the house vs. the stripped down sterility of so many rentals. It was heartening to be trusted by the owners that we would care for their home as we would our own. This was the perfect place to reunite with family after 18 months apart due to the pandemic. I would come back for another stay in a heartbeat. Thank you for offering your special lodge to those of us looking for a unique experience. With gratitude, Dana & family
Stonewall Lodge was great place for our family to connect and relax together for a few days. We enjoyed the hot tub, cooking (excellent kitchen!), SONOS, reading and the comfortable beds. We really appreciated being able to bring our dog with us, as he’s a family member, too! The skiers went to Killington one day and we did a couple of hikes. Other than that, there was no reason to leave!
Wonderful lodge with all the amenities! We loved our time at the lodge. The owners were very helpful and responsive to a few minor questions we had. Looking forward to going back! Thank you!
Property was clean inside and overall very nice. Few small things were broken (DVD player and one of the stove knobs but nothing major. Only complaint is that the grass never got cit and was really long by end of week which prevented us from really using the yard. Very peaceful place and we enjoyed sitting on the deck and looking up at stars. If you are looking to get away this is a great property. Location means you need to drive everywhere and surrounding towns are small with not much. Woodstock is about 25 minute away however.
This property was as beautiful as in the pics! The landscape was so pretty. The different outdoor areas to hang out were awesome. We especially loved drinking wine in the hot tub watching the meteor shower at night. It was a perfect vacation. John and John were quickly responsive to address any questions we had. We may have to make this an annual visit! - The Browns :)
Vermont perfection. Sublime elegance awaits you in the green mountains. The views, decor and ambience were stunning and provided a relaxed vacation. I put this in my top five VRBO rentals of all time. thank you for helping our family create wonderful memories while staying in your beautiful home. Stonewall Lodge is the best of the Vermont experience.
This is an unclean and rustic cabin that is poorly set up for guests. The limited dresser and closet space is largely strewn about with owner's personal items and clothing; must live out of a suitcase (difficult for more than a night or two) or pile clothes on a not-so-clean floor. The windows were quite drafty, making it difficult to be comfortable in the cold Vermont weather. The bathrooms were not fully cleaned; used q-tips and toilet tissue to be found; body hair and used soap in the showers; uncleaned toilets. The kitchen's equipped with a large commercial style stove but the owner prohibits cooking of meats on it's grill top; too bad we're not vegan. The gas grill was buried in snow, not a good winter cooking option. The cabinets were old and dirty inside, stocked with limited basics, many of these dishes and cutlery put away unclean, needing soaking and washing before use. The only wine or cocktail glasses in the house were marked family heirlooms - do not touch. The refrigerator was not clean but still contained lots of partially used foods, some left unwrapped, unsanitary and bordering on unsafe. The hot tub not shoveled out and not functioning. Owner's instructions were to take garbage to a dump or transfer station; who knows where that would be but no specifics were given. Previous tenant's garbage was left open in the garage (garbage cans are labeled kindling wood storage) also unsanitary; we left ours there too but at least tied it up tight. Very icy walk and drive (it is Vermont) but no salt or sand to remedy the situation. Instructions prohibit use of tools like a snow shovel. No apology, no refund. Owner's explanation: it may be that you are used to more posh accommodations and amenities offered in other geographical regions.
The Stonewall Lodge is set in a lovely location, on a hill, nestled on the side of a mountain. The views are gorgeous and the space is not only eclectic but comfortable; it was very ideal for a quiet, off the grid getaway. The downside was an issue with cleanliness, which was addressed with owner, who graciously received the feedback and said that they planned to informed the cleaners.
Wonderful memories were made in this exquisite home! The decor was all lovely and was perfect for the cabin and mtn. views. Centrally located to ski and other great activities. Awesome restaurants ! Thank your hospitality would love to visit again. Char
