Breath taking property on the creek. Beautiful setting. Unit was 100% set up for anything you would need. Owners were incredible. I wish we would of known how far away town was so we could of prepared for our stay. We had to drive 30 minutes away with (NO GPS) and (NO WIFI) to get groceries or drink because resort restaurant closes at 5. Other than that, the serenity was amazing.

After initial (2) concerns were quickly remedied, we had an excellent visit and stay. The location, right on the river and nice tasting / light food. Initially the hot tub was scalding hot, and too hot for entry. This was remedied. The bed mattress was excessively worn out and unsupportive. This was remedied by relocating us to another unit with acceptable mattress. All communications were prompt and our concerns addressed promptly. The property location is first rate spectacular. Close to Stone Mountain State Park. Thank you, Chance Smith, Elizabeth City, NC

Lovely stay by a gorgeous stream in the midst of nature. The property was well appointed with thoughtful touches such as frequently used spices in the kitchen and long matches for the firepit, grill and large stone fireplace. A variety of comfortable seating choices for meals and leisurely discussions in the open air. A great place for a couples weekend with friends as each of us had our own cabin. While we stayed in Birch there are others available. The sound of the water from the river through the screened door was magical. The delicious restaurant steps away on an open air porch is also a draw. The restaurant and winery had limited hours which kept everything private and quiet each evening for the guests. Close to Stone Mountain and we also were able to attend a festival in a neighboring mountain town. We plant to come back, for sure!

Great location at the winery next to the lovely creek, on site restaurant and lovely grounds. Convenient to Stone Mountain and the Blue Ridge Parkway, plus other wineries. The inside was nice though the HVAC wall unit was loud and right in the bedroom. Outside seating was a plus though a bit dusty. Very easy check-in and out.

I live in a technology driven environment 24-7-365, and I needed to be at this winery. We stayed at the Birch property and found it to be the perfect getaway from life’s constant distractions and daily annoyances. When you stay at this property, you are relieved of the stresses and pressures of everyday living, and presented with the chance to disconnect from the world and the opportunity to actually breathe. We didn’t do much during our 3-day stay, but that was the point. I wanted a relaxing place to enjoy nature, drink some great wine, eat some excellent food at Chez Josephine, and disconnect from the world. Mission accomplished. We didn’t take advantage of the amenities provided such as the communal fireplace, the provided grill, and the games and activities that you can enjoy in the property. We just took the opportunity to hit the proverbial “pause” button on our life and were so happy to have chosen Roaring River to do it at. Sure, there is capable internet and a Roku enabled TV in the unit, but when you stay here, that’s not the point. This is where you go to disconnect, unwind, relax, ignore the world, and appreciate your loved ones, nature and your place in life. I look forward to the opportunity to decompress here again.

It’s a wonderful venue to enjoy drinking wine and not worry about driving country roads afterwards. Cozy suite with fire pit right outside back door and next to the appropriately named Roaring River. Full kitchen and propane grill makes it easy to eat in.

The accommodations were very comfortable and we enjoyed sitting on the patio listening to the river. We were disappointed with the menu selection in the dining room hoping for more dinner entrees. But for lunch it was fine. We drove into Elkin and purchased some groceries and cooked our own meals during our stay. The cabin was very comfortable and the grounds are lovely.

Overall a nice clean and relaxing place to stay. It is remote, so plan on 30 minutes plus drive to any other activity or restaurants. The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant hours are limited (kitchen is11 to 5, bar is 11 to 6) If you prefer later mealtimes, be sure to pack your own food or be prepared for a 30 minute drive to the next nearest restaurant. The wine flite was good. A few things needed attention. 1) The oven in our unit was not clean and smelled of burned pizza when we used it. 2) The air circulation in the unit was poor. When we were there, it was one of the hottest weekends on record and we has to purchase a small fan ti help circulate the air. 3) The hot tub needed attention. It appeared clean, but the water level was 6 to 8 inches too low. 4) The instructions for check out asked us to clean the grill, but the items that should have been supplied were not available in our unit. Overall, we would still recommend this as a secluded getaway cottage. We would still recommend this property

The place was wonderful except for the extremely musty smell. That being said the management and owner were extremely responsive and offered us the upstairs unit as an option. Very kind. We did not partake since we had unloaded. Would stay again upstairs or if assured the mustiness had been taken care of. Again so pleased w the concern and responsive we received. The property is beautiful.
