Luxurious log cabin with river views, hot tub, firepit, outdoor areas, & W/D

I’ve stayed in a lot of different houses in South Fork and this place is Tops!! Excellent stay and great hospitality!

This is the second time we rented this cabin, my wife and 4 kids, 1st time was decently clean but we really loved the stream behind it, this time it was a nightmare, trash under the beds, rats and rat poop on the beds, no internet, we called multiple times and were told they would call is back to address the situation, no call back nothing, we left and paid for a full stay. Still no call back. We would never stay here again and wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.

Based on some of the older reviews, I was iffy on booking South Fork Sanctuary. However, it was stated that it was under new management and the reviews have been consistently higher so I decided to give it a try. South Fork Sanctuary completely bypassed my expectations, from the fully stocked kitchen, plenty of space, beautiful outdoor area, and comfortable beds. Having access to a private island really made our trip. We enjoyed sitting by the fire pit and looking at the stars next to the river each night. If you stay when the river is flowing, you can hear it through open windows which makes for a great nights sleep. I would highly recommend staying here! It is great for both adults and kids, plus it is far enough away from Pagosa Springs to avoid the more expensive lodging but close enough to enjoy the drive through the mountains which is worth it in itself. You can really tell that the new management cares and puts in the effort to make South Fork Sanctuary a top tier stay.

The cabin had lots of room and looked bigger than the pictures showed. It was equipped with everything we needed. I was amazed at how many towels were available so we didn't have to worry about running out. The kitchen had more pots, pans, utensils, dishes and everything you would need to cook with. We ran out of trash bags and had to go buy some. The reason I gave it a 4 for cleanliness is because the front porch needed cleaning to include the benches with cushions. They were really dirty. Also, the back windows looking out to the river were very dirty and needed a good cleaning to make the view more enjoyable. But, if this does not bother you then all would be good. My one suggestion would be to strip the wood island down and refinish the top. It had a sticky feeling to it like it needed a good cleaning or refinishing. The refrigerator door didn't always close all the way but I made sure everyone knew to really push it shut. If you have children, they may not always check this. Also, we could never find the light switch to turn off the patio light outside the master bedroom. If you stay, you may want to ask about this. None of these would get in the way of us staying again. I just wanted to mention it. Overall, It was a great trip and we will be returning.

We had a larger group and it fit us perfectly. We really enjoyed the living area with the wood stove and the back porch with the hot tub!

Gorgeous view, beautiful home, great location. House needs to be cleaned. And had a few glitches but the staff was quick to fix them.

Southfork Sanctuary is a spectacular log home in the South Fork area. We were a little unsure at first, but we're so glad we decided to go for it. In conversation with the neighbors, we learned that the home is under new ownership, which have created and maintained a gorgeous property. The last three days and nights have easily been the highlight of our trip. We absolutely loved the backyard. The backyard is honestly a dream—it has an island right in the middle of the river, outdoor grills, a fantastic hot tub, and fire pits that made every evening cozy. The kitchen was perfect for cooking together, and it even started snowing while we were there, which made everything look extra magical. There was something for all of us to enjoy during our stay here. This is one of the best private homes we have rented and also in the most peaceful surroundings. We hope to return soon.

I was initially hesitant to book this cabin due to some older reviews, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance! Under new management, this place has completely transformed. The cabin was spotless, cozy, and well-maintained, with all the comforts needed for a relaxing getaway. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and the location was perfect for exploring. would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful, scenic getaway.

We loved our stay. Beautiful cabin. Plenty of room and spacious. The ombiance and location is great. Kids had a great time. Plenty of amenities. Jacuzzi was relaxing. Caught some nice big brown trout. Couldnt have asked for more!

The pictures of the exterior of the property are extremely inaccurate!! When arrived there was an old pick up with a flat tire, old building materials stacked in the yard, the grage dooris broken an cannot be shut. The interior of the property is beautiful and the cleaning lady had done a good job. However the kitchen is in extreme disrepair. The oven door won't shut, and tserveral cabinets are broken. The back yard of the property is beautiful but we had to borrow a lawn mower because it was very over grown where you access the river. This is a beautiful home but it needs some serious attention!!

This property did not disappoint. A few minor issues that were a little inconvient, but overall a great property. Plenty of hot water that had apparently been issues for previous guests and the location was amazing. Plenty of room both inside as well as outside. Thanks so much!

The 6 foot tall pile of trash on the front porch. It was entertaining watching the rats scamper around. I have a lot of good pictures I wish they would let me share.
